Oxygen based vs. hydrogen based? That's absurd. That has nothing to do with how your body metabolizes meds. Different meds are broken down differently by enzymes in your liver and metabolites are created. It's the metabolites that urine screens test for. For example, codeine's metabolites are morphine, hydrocodone and norcodeine; oxycodone's metabolites are oxymorphone and noroxycodone. Also, not all opiates are eliminated from your system at equal times. Each med has a different half-life and elimination time.

don't you need to have opiates show up in your urine to start a med like suboxone? You do in DE....Side note: Some of you people are funny.

Opana does not show up as morphine it shows up as oxy and dilata shows as an opiate. Hydromorphone and oxymorohone are in the same category just show as complete opposites

Hi I thought it shows up as oxymorphone and oxycodone, that's how they know the difference, if you are prescribed oxycodone and oxymorphone, you would have more oxycodone than oxymorphone in your ua for it to show you took both and not just one of them? But if it shows no oxymorophone or not enough oxycodone then they know you haven't been taking one or the other bc your levels would be off? Oxymorphone surely metabolizes in oxycodone. Please go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong but I did a lot of research on this bc I wanted to kow if I could get away with just having one out of the two of them in my system, and that's what I found out...you need both. There's a seperate test on the panel for oxycodone and oxymorphone. All depending on if you get tested with the highest individualized testing panel. The less detailed ones wouldn't show the difference though so that's why there's so many different answers. Depends on test that the Dr uses. Whether it tests for independent oxymorphone or not. If your prescribed that then good chances that's the test they would use. But those are more expensive tests so like I said really depends on the Drs choice of how many panels.

i am going thru the same situation got out of my sub dr today and they suprisingly didnt even drug test me and i stayed clean the past 3 weeks. i was wanted to do some pandas but not sure exactly how long my dr said for my urine test that gets sent to a lab 3 weeks wouldnt show up but im gonna give it atleast two weeks to be sure

Most of these answers are all wrong. You have your oxycodone/oxycontin (percs, oxys, roxys) and hydrocodone(vikes, lortab, norco) and oxymorphone(opana). All are narcotics. If you're prescribed hydros, any brand name (see above) you take will be ok. If you're prescribed oxycodone stick with an oxy based drug & you're ok. Opana is kind of unique so if that's what you're prescribed that's what you need to take. All opiates stay in your system roughly 48 hours. Always save enough to take a day or two before your doctor appointment so your drug screen is good. Or don't take for about a week if you're using recreationally and have a screen for probation, etc. To be on the safe side... Everyone metabolizes differently so err on the side if caution if you really need to pass.

Well I hate to say this, but I took a drug test and the doctor asked why I had oxymorphone (however its spelled) in my system and that was a week AFTER I took the opana 40mg. So, it does show as oxymorphone on a test
