Lyrica is absolutely the worst prescribed medicine out there. Please go on the Internet and type in lyrica, worst side effects and deaths. I was prescribed the medicine 5 years ago after a truck ran over me when I was walking. I had nerve damage. I also have fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatique Syndrome. I was put in 150 mg 2 times a day. The first week I was on it, my work sent me home because they thought I was high. My dr sent me back 3 hrs later to tell them that I was normal. I have never done drugs in my life and never liked the feeling of being high. When you are on this medicine your brain gets foggy, and you don't remember things and you start to loose your memory. I had so many side effects that my dr thought it was all in my head so u still took it because as we were always thought , "the dr knows everything so trust them" . I stayed on it for about a year and was very hesitant but had to take it so I could work. These are the flowing symtoms that I had
1. Gained weight
2. Loss of memory
3. Disconnected from the world.
4. Not interested in anything emotionally
5. I couldn't concentrate
6. I couldn' t do simple things like pay my bills or clean the house.
7. Tired all the time

These were my major symptoms. The worst thing about this drug is you don't realize all the symtoms because your brain eventually stops worki g as well as it use to. I decided to go off it and the withdrawals were horrible so I went back on them.
I have been on the medicine for 5 years now and after reading on the Internet about all the lawsuits and all the people being sick and dying, I decided to wean off of it. I have been taking 75 mg once a day for the last couple months and then I went down to 50.
My dr gives me a Vicodin instead which I think everyone shod take before taking Lyrica. Pain medicines are much better for you then Lyrica.
I am on 75 mg every other day and now I am at 35 mg once a day. The withdrawals are bad but they will be worth it. The anxiety and swearing erc and depression is hard. I have been taking half a Xanax and the pain medicine to help relieve the pain. If you can afford it take time off of work and spend all your time on making yourself healthy again. My dog and eating healthy has helped. I am now going two days with only 35 mg Nd I feel like The Last five years of my life were a complete fog. I don't remember everything and I have been looking at all these forums and all the articles about how bad lyrica is and how the company making it had to pay the FDA over 35 million in damages. Please research and keep going on forums. I do get headaches and pains, but actually getting your brain to function again is the most important thing. I will write more tomorrow if you want. I would love to help. Ease read the Internet on all the side effects of lyrica. Try to read places that is not ran by the company itself.
Lyrica is ranked 3rd on the highest amount of money ever made on medicine sales and the numbers are goin up. There are soapy lawsuits and you don't want to lose your life or your family or friends.
The worst side effect of lyrica is feeling like you are in complete isolation and you feel like you are slowly dying. As I am typing this a Lyrica commercial just came on. They did a study and out of 53,400 people 1,100 people died the first time they took this medicine. This medicine is on the market because of profits and there is a major lawsuit against the company because it is ruining people's lives. Please do well and God Bless You!

i was put on lyrica last year as a replacement medication fot my epilepsy. it hasnt stopped the seizures it made me irritable all the time, terrible headaches, my memory was worsened and just couldnt think straight or concentrate properly, i was falling down all the time out in public and on my stairs really felt like i was losing the plot, ive put 4 stone in weight on, restless at night, and the list goes on this medication is just pure evil. i decided 10 days ago to start weaning myself off this crap, i was on 250mg a day so just dropped 50mg every 2 days not taken any for 2 days now my skin feels like its burning off my body and crawling with ants and have terrible hot sweats and slight runs but otherwise i at least feel human again can think straight and my future feels alot brighter. i would never ever recommend anyone take this poison

When I went off of lyrica, my name is kianna, I wrote a post on this site, I took sleeping medicine and Xanax to help with the crazy sweating, the feeling of not wanting to love etc.. The sweating etc.. Is tough. Just don't do any activities that will give u pain. Pace yourself. I pick and chose my activities and I learned how to say no to my friends and family. I think u said u had epilepsy. Just sleep, drink lots of water and get support from others. I am still working on finding support. If u need to talk just post again and I will respond. Lyrica is an evil drug and never have been put on the market. The withdrawals r the worst thing I ever experienced. Another thing that is hard is the drs wanting u to stay on them. If they don't listen to u find a new one. Good luck and I am here if you would like to talk

Addiction is perhaps the wrong word. There is no psycholoogical addiction, but, at least for me, there was extreme physical withdrawal, even though i resorted to goiing slowly. Cutting my dose in half, was way too much - chillls, fevers, aches, pains et. al. You are lucky that lyrica works so well for you, but please, do not discount those that it does not work nearly as well, and is actually a difficult drug to quit. Lyrica is being singled out for this because it is so rare to encounter a drug that perpetuates a myth of no withdrawals when there is a very good chance you will have a difficult time getting off the drug. Morphine, percocets etc are known for their addictive qualities so when prescribed one takes it carefully and with caution - with lyrica I went in blindly - why hasn't the FDA taken cautionary steps with respect to this drug?? Why are doctors not reporting our complaints to the FDA as required by law? It has been 1 1/2 years since I started off lyrica. I am now on 35mg every other day and hope to be off it forever in the next few weeks.

My experience is similar to yours, in that 3 weeks have passed and I am still suffering from a reaction I had after being on it for three months.
I am not suicidal, actually I feel more homicidal towards the makers of this dreadful
medication.

I have been taking Lyrica for the past three years. At first it seemed to be effective for my lower back pain as I had surgery for a collapsed disc now suffering from DDD. I started to notice the "brain fog". It was impossible to concentrate. Swollen ankles at times became more painful than my back pain. Having a slim build I gained about 9 pounds from my usual weight. I partially blame this drug for my firing from my last job as I was unable to meet a project deadline due to the brain fog. I blame this drug on a traffic accident in an unfamiliar area. I also believe my last relationship suffered as a result of feeling emotionally distant. Originally I was only taking 75 mg/day then my doctor suggested I increase to 150 mg/day. In a new relationship I suffered from ED twice and that scared me as result I quit cold turkey. I dropped the weight I gained. I have not noticed my pain getting worse. My sleep is suffering. I don't have problems falling asleep but I have been waking up several times during the night. I am focused on exercise to help with pain.

I was on lyrica for 3 months & it wasn't working for me. (I was taking it for nerve pain 300mg a day) I was weened on it but tried cutting it cold turkey. I don't know if its all in my head but it has given me so much anxiety. I cry every day for no reason. I can't relax. I am always anxious. I am on 25mg now for 4 more days & then I'm done with this drug. Has anyone had this experience? I find it so hard to believe that I can have this much anxiety & nausea after only being on it for 3 months.

Hello everyone, I was prescribed Lyrica by my rheumatologist to help with the pain from a pretty severe fibromyalgia flare up which started in April of this year. I really did not get any relief from it at all. I started on 50mg. and then doubled it to 100mg. which caused me to be in a constant fog as well as completely exhausted all the time. I lowered the dose to 75 mg. for the past month. From the start I could feel that I was gaining weight and at times retaining fluid in certain places like my lower extremeties, and in my right side upper abdomen. As time went on my legs and feet blew up three times the size that they should be, and also causing tingling and some numbness. I spoke to my rheumatologist regarding these symptoms and he said he wasn't aware that Lyrica could cause these symptoms. I also was in more pain than when I originally began taking the medication. At that time recommended that I double the dose because he felt that it wasn't a high enough dose. He also wanted me to add the drug Savella to it to try and ease some of he pain. I was concerned because now the edema in my extremeties was getting worse making it more difficult to even walk. At this time I decided that I had enough with the Lyrica and felt i needed to wean myself off.
Also, my whole torso and lower body from my under my breasts down to my knees became more and more fluid filled. It feels like there is a vice around my ribcage an abdomen and the pressure on my spine is pretty severe. I'm having a hard time getting around and I have now fallen 2 times in the past 2 weeks because my center feels off. I ended up in the ED where they really didnt know what to make of it. The doctors still think its not a side effect of lyrica or withdrawal symptoms, while my physical therapist told me that she has seen this before in some of her patients. I have been doing some reading about lyrica and it seems as though there are some pretty severe side effects as well as withdrawal symptoms. I am now off of this awful drug for 13 days. They swelling in my feet is much better, but still pretty bad in my torso. When I walk I look like a toddler, very awkward and off balance. The pain can be excruciating at times and I don't know where to go from here. I still have numbness in my foot and toes in places. My thighs are edematous and get severe pain in my groin area on both sides. My lower back, upper back, back of my arms, abdomen and pelvis are numb, some areas worse than others.
Can someone please help me and provide me with any information if you have had any or all of these symptoms. Its very scary and I don't know what to do. I'm so angry and upset with these doctors who keep prescribing these meds. and don't know or understand the havoc that they wreak on their patient's bodies. My doctor was very annoyed with me and said that these were not side effects from he drug, but rather the fibromyalgia causing these symptoms. I have suffered with fibromyalgia for 18 yrs. now and haven't experienced anything as severe as this numbness before. Yes, I have had severe pain, but not the edema and numbness to this extent and for this long. I would appreciate if anyone could let me know if they have experienced this while taking, or going off lyrica.

Seems like no one answers the questions here. I really would like to know how long Lyrica could stay in my system.

I have been taking pregabalin for at least two years and at one time 300mg for chronic anxiety along with sertraline 100mg a day and 40mg of propanolol, anyway quite a while ago now I cut the pregabalin down to 150mg a day in 50mg capsules and then suddenly about 4 months ago i was administered 150mg capsules on repeat and I didn't realize so I was taking 3 of them a day so if you can do the maths that equals 450mg a day, so for 4 months I've been taking 450mg a day and as you are probably aware 300mg is the max dose for anxiety so I cut down by 150 mg about 4-5 weeks ago and my head has been blitzed, very bad memory, blurred vision, depression, anxiety, you name it! Can you tell me if this is normal and how much longer it'll go on for?? Many thanks

I experience those terrible headaches/migraines as well due to nerve damage (I have Multiple Sclerosis). My Doctor prescribed a drug called "Nortriptyline 10 MG" (take 3 at night.) The deabilatating migraine-headaches definitely went away! Only problem is that when I don't take the Nortriptyline" for more than a couple of days, the migraine-headaches come back. My pain Doctor prescribed Lyrica 50MG 3 xa day for me last week bc of continuous whole body pain I'm still experiencing [that OxyMorphone (Opana) 10 MG up to 8 x a day wasn't taking care of]. I just started the Lyrica 50MG today and I'm planning on starting it very gradually to prevent any "side effects". I hope you are feeling better! Please let me know how you're doing now with the Lyrica (As I'm reading all these posts in this forum, I'm kinda worried as there are more negative comments than positive ones!)
