When I started my Suboxone, my dr. gave me 1 8mg in office and I was instructed to take another 8mg 2 hours later. Hope this helps.

Sorry, I just saw your reply back. Yes, it literally took about 15 - 20 minutes and I felt SOOOO much better after I took the 2nd 8mg. How are you feeling? Any better?

You should just get on methadone it's way better with taking away withdrawals

Hi, i just happen to read your post. Ive been on Suboxene ten days. I take 8 mg three times a day. Its been four hours and im ready for a fourth dose. I have an extra one from the other day. I was hoping someone could tell me if this is ok. Anyway, your not alone with your questions. I usually take one at 6 or 8 am, second dose at one pm and one around nine pm, but im having a hard time because my cravings are high. Its so hard when your coping mechanism isnt there anymore and you have chronic pain. Can anyone please tell me what methadone maintenance is like???? Please someone give me some facts. I have chronic pain and I need something to keep me from withdraws. Thank you all.

Hi. I believe Suboxone has a 'ceiling effect' at 24mg. I've been told that if you take anymore than that, it won't do anything to help your withdrawl like symtoms.Hang in there though. I've been taking Suboxone for years now, and it has literally saved my life. I started at 3 -8mg a day and now I'm finally down to 1 -8mg a day. Good luck!

I too find it that you have to take another suboxone strip a couple hours after the first one just to get the withdrawal symptoms to relax. I too have been told that suboxone has a max out at 24mg which is 3 8mg strips, that doesn't mean it's not going to work & your doctor could have prescribed you more for certain reasons, either way being dope sick sucks. Marlena, if you have severe pain and are wondering about methadone, why are you on suboxone? I'm just curious. I will tell you methadone works GREAT for pain especially bc it's long lasting. I was on it for 3 years w my chronic back pain but detoxing off that is another story. Methadone builds up in your body collecting to your bones and just makes the worst detox ever. Even after 9 days my bones were still hurting! Best of luck to y'all!

Dear methadone madness, my Dr told me I could either take my subs 3 times a day or all at the same time. I'm on 24mg a day 2 and on klonopin. So, I take my subs at the same time. They work great 4 me and last until the next day.

My experience and research is that if you didn't wait until you are in full blown withdrawal, your initial experience will not be pleasant as it seems to hijack your receptors and kick any remaining opiate off....All at the same time so you feel awful..... can last hours...and hours....but if this happens the subs will begin to work eventually. But when you see that it's started working...but it's not really easing the WD....then you may need a higher dose to start. It's always best to taper your opiate of choice as much as possible and if u do this....The subs will seem like a miracle and will work wonderfully. And a short term detox with subs is very very doable.....despite what big pharma or paid advocates tell you. Keep it up! Don't give up! Chasing opiates everyday is no way to live this one time opportunity to live!

I've been on it 4 years. I started in a detox facility. They gave me 2mg in the morning and then another 2 in the afternoon for the first few days. After that once per day. It made me sick that first day. My dosage was raised 2mg per week, the highest dose being 32mg, once per day. I'm now down to 8mg per day. Decreasing 2mg per month. Having no withdrawals which is unusual, I'm told.
I can feel it a little after about 20 mins, but after an hour is when I can really feel it.

I have had several surgeries over the past 2 1/2 yrs starting out having both hips replaced and my rt hip has been revised for a total of 6x along with two back to back staph infections. Then in July 2014 I broke L2 - S1 from an ATV accident to back to the OR again to fuse my whole lumbar spine with bone grafts, screws, rods n cages. The whole time I have been on some real heavy guns pain meds almost too much to even list. It was in Nov 2014 that I made my mind up I needed help to get off of the opiates, I was up to taking 350mg Soma 4x a day, 10-325 Norco 7 tabs 3x - 4x a day, MS Contin 60 mg 3x day chewing them up every time so I deff can feel for you. Once I was accepted into thee Suboxone program it has been a God send, I now do three strips under my tongue once a day or sometimes ill do two in the AM and one in the eve. Just keep a positive mindset and know what u are doing may have actually saved your life, but as far as your question goes it only takes 20 - 30 mins to feel relief from the withdrawals. Good luck and stay the course.....

I've been on percocet/vicodin for 5 years daily. Tapered off and then went cold turkey. Withdrawal is in full force so I was given 8mg suboxone strips. How long after taking this will I feel the effects? How long does it take to get into your system? Thank you.
