How Long Can Oxycodone Stay In Your Urine

Updated

I took a drug test and I failed for opiates, I had taken one Oxycodone 15 mg. They sent it off and it had a faint trace. If I have it retested will it still be there?

Because it takes 72 hours to completely leave your urine, there is a good chance that it will still be in your system.

Why are you taking them and worried about a test? If you're not suppose to you're the reason people like me have to live everyday in misery. The dea is out there for people like you. Thanks for making my existence so miserable and everyone that is in true pain, addicts...

I am an RN inactive for the past six and a half years. I worked myself so hard I broke my back and had two back surgeries, the last bing a three-level fusion which was unnecessary. It left me in relentless pain so excruciating that I never thought pain like that was possible. And believe me, I can take a lot of pain. The orthopedic surgeon also cut my obturator nerve in my right leg so it is weak. I am 100% disabled. My orthopod immediately sent me to a pain doctor. I had never taken any drugs accept levothyroxine for low thyroid and a daily Prozac 60 mg for PMS. Eventually I was put on Fentanyl 50 mcg patches every 72 hours and two 10 mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough pain. I started having severe sweating attacks from the fentanyl and then I read fentanyl is stronger than heroin. I never felt a high from Fentanyl, which was fine, but it always addressed my pain and I was able to function be it in a wheelchair or walking only short distances with the use of a Cane or Walker. I decided to ask my PAs who were my providers at My Pain Clinic to wean me off fentanyl so for one month I began to wean off and was doing well. However both PAs quit the same month and I had to see the doctor and owner of three to four Clinics. He put me on three 10 milligram oxycodones per day, which I thought was strange being my breakthrough pain was two 10 milligram oxycodone per day, along with the fentanyl patches. I still had not completely weaned off the fentanyl and as a nurse I thought it was strange to put me on 3 oxycodones a day but, unlike me, I didn't question him thinking he's the doctor and knows best. Within 3 days I was writhing in horrific pain, and called his office over and over again to get another appointment; however, because of his provider shortage he wouldn't see me and brushed me off. I have a daughter and a husband and was in bed for 20 days suffering the unthinkable. Finally my husband demanded an appointment and he also told me to take an extra oxycodone even though it violated our contract. I didn't want to do it but listened to my husband. When we saw the doctor we told him what we did and how difficult it was for our family. He was slightly upset but just Let It Go and I know it was because he did not read my chart being so rushed and short-handed. A while later I called to ask for an RX for the five oxycodone pills I took so as to catch up; however, he wanted to see me again in five days too long (another $35 copayment). I was thoroughly disgusted with him and short on cash because believe me I do not get much being 100 percent disabled. Thus I decided to see another pain doctor not on my plan and $250 who was recommended by a dear friend. He gave me all the same prescriptions for 20 mg Oxycontin twice a day and 10 mg oxycodone three times a day. That was an excellent pain plan and was working well--the same as my former doctor. I had my same Pharmacy rip up all my old doctor's Rxs and fill the new doctor's prescriptions at the appropriate times. Next thing I know I get a letter of dismissal from my old doctor for breaking my contract 2 months earlier, which he was okay with, and for seeing another pain doctor while I still under contract with him. I thought a new legal contract nullifies the old!? He couldn't see me because he wouldn't hire anyone. My PCP referred me to yet another pain doctor who took my insurance; however, after waiting in my wheelchair for 3 hours and an hour and a half of questioning, he only offered me suboxone or methadone, which I heard was very dangerous. I declined him as my pain doctor. Then I ran out of my oxycodone and was only on Oxycontin 20 mg twice a day and I could feel the pain becoming excruciating. I felt betrayed and useless. I felt no one cared and, though I had recent MRIs done that confirmed I had a disc completely out under the fusion and on three nerves in L5-S1, because it is a Workers Comp case, which I won, it was taking forever to see a top-notch neurosurgeon, which I finally scheduled, but his nurse said I probably would not get approved for surgery. The expensive pain doctor told me I was a perfect candidate for a pain pump that would change my life and I want one more than anything and don't ever want to be on narcotics again. But being distraught, feeling like a total loser, not having family support and only having Oxycontin, I took all my remaining Oxycontin, some of my Gabapentin and my clonazepam because I couldn't take the pain anymore and did not know where to turn. I was at the unjust hands of the system and everything was against me. I told my priest right after I took the pills who called the paramedics and I wound up in a behavioral Institution for 7 days. A place that treats substance abusers, mental illnesses but does not have a clue about treating a true pain patient. I suffered Beyond any words could explain. I swear hardened killers and criminals have more Freedoms and luxuries than in this place. Eg, they had me in a 1950s wheelchair with no brakes or foot rests and the seat sagged and bowed down about four inches. So much for their constant concern for my safety. No clocks in the rooms or call buttons for those who are truly sick like me with lupus, intermittent pericarditis and demyelatnating disease on top of the back pain and severe Lt leg sciatica down to my foot. The psychiatrist put me on Lodine twice a day and Motrin 3 to 4 times a day. I was also able to get Toradol shots for five of the seven days I was there. They let me go home after 7 days as long as I go to intensive rehab classes three times a week for 3 hours a day. I am a 100 percent disabled and am so weak from ODing, severe pain and not being able to eat that I don't know how I am going to do it. They did not help me there--they hurt me! I am getting an MR myelogram test soon to see if surgery is an option if Worker's Comp approves it, but I definitely want a pain pump. Until I get the pain pump I feel I should maybe take up the methadone option. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. I didn't want to die or I wouldn't have told anyone I took the pills, but I wanted to send a message about the Injustice in the treatment of true pain pts. People abuse narcotics and doctors capitalize on them. It seems there is no recourse to the true sufferers who simply want to live normal lives in service to their families, churches and communities as I did before the surgeries 6 years ago. What should I do? I am so weak and sick. I am open to every suggestion. Sorry for the length of this message but I feel it had to be known. Does anyone think a doctor's note would get me out of those rehab classes until I have surgery or get a pain pump?

Hey Kass

How did that ever work out for yah?? Find a doctor to exempt you from out patient drug treatment sessions ?? Did they ever prescribe a stronger opiate/opioid for your pain control?? Just curious bc you never posted back.
Regards,
Kenie.

Dear Monica,

You will be shocked and offended by this, as you strike me as the sort of person who is never wrong, and always a victim. You are a miserable, entitled ******* who is undoubtedly in a shiny variety of discomfort due to the special brand of karmic justice reserved just for self-righteous, unempathetic d***weeds like yourself. There's no "I" in "team", and this is a place where ALL people ask for and offer help. Put your big girl pants on, and use some will power to keep from s***ting in the communal Wheaties the next time you feel like projecting your misery on people who ALSO know what pain is.

Re: Kas123 (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

Did you ever have your surgery or get the pain pump? Just curious if it was working... I'm kinda in the same situation as you were..Or are... I feel that there is a big difference in being an addict and being dependant on pain pills!!! I had a very bad motorcycle wreck. I don't feel like I'm a drug addict. I know I'm addicted to pain pills, but not to feel high, just to be able to live a normal life, but the system is so messed up now with pain management... And these kids are taking these meds... I now go to the methadone clinic because I can't get into pain management because of money and no insurance; so they are my pain clinic.
