Updated

Just had Testopel pellets inserted in my backside. Forgot to ask doctor how long until they take effect. He's out of town.

Leo, George and........ I guess a lot of guys! I've never seen this discussion here before, but perhaps it's a good time for it. I am a retired teacher, 71 years old now and have taught students "officially" from 2nd grade thru college. (Just for the record, my favorite age groups were 4th graders and college; my least favorite were those middle-school years, as they are searching so desperately to be happy and independent,........ but just don't know how.) Most of those middle-schoolers find their way with the expected ups and downs occurring. All of us guys know that those ups and downs continue throughout our life, no matter how old we may be.

I hear the discussion here from guys and the mention of "growers" and "showers", how big, how small.......... and I think every man has moments of each and every one of those emotions/desires/thoughts. Been there; done that. Am there; do that. Know what I mean?

'Though retired from teaching after 35 years, I'm busy with hobbies, interests and........ not surprisingly, I continue to teach. I facilitate a group of fifteen (15) people who are all dealing with some very important health issues, including recent strokes, brain damage, arthritis, memory problems and/or fibromyalgia. I bring this up because when I'm with these people and they bring up an 'issue' of theirs that is bothering them, it always -- without fail -- helps me to both realize and remember that problem(s) that I might be dealing with -- most often -- are paled in comparison to theirs. This might help: AIN'T BIG WORRIES AND LITTLE WORRIES. ALL WORRIES ARE THE SAME SIZE; JUST DEPENDS ON WHO'S GOT' EM.

We talk; we discuss; we share; we encourage and most importantly, we listen. It's a very important tool that we have to help others: listening. I'm "up on my soapbox", I think, because we do the same thing on this site: we listen to guys who are dealing with some very important, personal issues. Most/all of us can relate because we are either taking the TESTOPEL, wanting to, have taken it, or are a part of the site so that we can do just as I have been saying -- because we want to give the same kind of support to others that others have given to us in the past.

I'm NOT -- I repeat, I'm NOT suggesting that any of the points brought up are not important. Every thing said on this site is important. If I were to say what the point of my diatribe tonight is, it would be: Each of us must do those things that make us feel the best we can for ourselves and those that we care about. In doing this, we must not forget that those that we are most intimate with are so because of the complete person we are. It's not just limited to the "physical manly things". It is because of the kind of 'spirit and soul' that we are as men. Gentleness, understanding and caring are some of the most powerful "turn-ons" for women. Be proud of who you are in every way and some of the things that we deal with here on this site, will take care of themselves.

Okay........... this is Bob......... officially stepping down from the pulpit! ***grin*** (Only said all of this because I look forward to this site and am grateful for the help I have received from other men in the past.)

Happy Thanksgiving guys!

Yes,
They returned to their pre treatment size and are very solid. I take a low dose every day in the morning. Took about two weeks to see the change, than by two months they were normal.

Bob, Nice post. You have me by 7 years on age, and you are smart enough to have retired. I wanted to answer your post earlier, but I still work, and this has been a busy month. Retirement is on out a bit, which is OK with me. I can get into too much trouble if I have too much free time LOL. The site has been helpful to me, and you especially helpful. Starting the Testopel was a big step. I had tried gels, and shots but due to my travel time with work was always running low. My GP recommended the pellets, and sent me to a urologist. He explained the process told me my dosage, and set up the procedure date. That was a year ago. I ran low on the first cycle, and the four-month cycle was changed to three months. The Clomid was started after the first implant. I already had some atrophy from the shots, and hoped to just stop the shrinkage. Taking half of a pill each morning became routine. I noticed a change in about three weeks. After a few months, they were back to their normal size. It was a week four when I recognized the buffering effect it was having on my low testosterone. I started Testopel with a T level between 50 and 60, at the end of four weeks it was now down to 297, the next trip with a three-month cycle I was in the 390’s. I can tell it is low there, but so much better than 50. Vanity aside it is worth trying.
I have also found with the Urologist the questions he asks opens questions we need to ask. Atrophy being one discussion, ED another. Things I never talked about with my GP. I still don’t discuss depression which I think I had prior to the pellets, but now seem to be over it. Kind of hard to not discuss things when the doctor is shoving pellets in a slot of your butt.
All in all it has been nothing but good for me. The added benefit of feeling free to ask odd questions helps too. Thanks for all the advice. You have answered a lot of questions. Happy Holiday, hope it is a good one for you.

Leo: Funny (coincidental) that you asked that post at this time. I've written a letter and actually copied a few things from this website from you guys to give to my urologist later today. I'm definitely one of those guys who "fade" (and fade FAST) as time for TESTOPEL passes and I'm getting closer to needing the procedure again. My personal BIGGEST thing I deal with is DEPRESSION. My mood changes are very difficult to deal with. I become more emotional, less tolerant, upset more easily.... not such a very good guy to be around. (I don't even like being around MYSELF during this time.)

I'm delivering my letter/quotes from this page etc. today to my urologist's office later today. Unfortunately, he -- himself -- is in very bad shape right now. He has done something to/with his back and is both "out of commission" and "out of the office" until some time after the first of the year. Because of this, no more TESTOPEL pellet procedures for me or any of the other guys getting from him for the next several weeks, at least. In our metropolitan area, he is the only urologist who does this procedure. I repeat -- he is the ONLY Doc who does the TESTOPEL. Other urologists will do the injections, gels, patches, etc., but no implants.

I will be getting a testosterone injection today and will need to do this every two (2) weeks until Doc is "up and ready to go" so he can make me (and others) "up and ready to go", so to speak.

Should I get any information further on this Clomid discussion, I will keep you and all of the guys posted.

Have a great day, guys!

Leo,

Thanksgiving was OK. My wife had a bug so we were home this year, and did not over eat. We are still cutting back in prep for the holidays fat fest. Will try to cut back till about May so I can enjoy my time of the year. My next testopel checkup is the first week of January. I have blood work followed a few days later with the pellets. All I can update is at just over 2 months I feel full of energy, maybe too much energy for this 60 plus body. Cooler weather has me hiking again, adding to the miles I do in the summer. Five miles every night after work, and 8 to 10 on local trails on weekends. It is good for stress reduction, and calms my dog down as well. I also just found my insurance policy pays for a gym membership so I will start some yoga classes this month. Flexibility seems hard to hold onto at this age, yoga may kill me, but if so I will be limber enough to fit in a smaller coffin. Something good about being over 65 is the “Silver sneakers” program for seniors. I did not know it existed and bet a lot of others don’t know also. Check your insurance and see if it covers the membership fees.

I know - The grass may not be greener on the other side...

Leo:

First of all..... I "kinda" remember 42, but not really. ***grin*** It was an awfully busy time of my life with my career and building relationships, continuing my learning and polishing skills etc. Do what you can, including taking inventory of your health issues. Remember not to make an issue out of something that really isn't. Each year that goes by has a bit more to address. We owe it to ourselves to do that, too. Men -- far too often -- are not ones to go and see 'Doc' w/ things. As with all things in Life, it depends. Take notice and evaluate what is going on. If it either IS or has the POTENTIAL to be something that is not probably going to improve without your help, then you owe it to yourself and your family to seek help. We talk about hormone issues a great deal on this site and I (at 71 years old) am very grateful we have this platform to do so. Simply, when you hear of other men -- at various ages -- having health issues that you may also be experiencing, it is comforting and helpful to hear/see the comments from these men. I've followed you closely, Leo, as I have George and others, too. To me, I secretly smile when I have followed guys going thru "things" and have some resolution and/or improvement with them. Take care and keep the sharing coming our way.

This is Bob -- once again -- leaving his 'pulpit'. ***sigh***

Hey Bob! You nailed it with this one.. Thanks.. what life could have been if I sought self help sooner!! It is really cool we have this site.. Some things "R" self inflicted.. Being able to help one another is a blessing... Looking forward to our continuous chats with Our Common Factors...

Agreed, Leo. Hang in there and continue offering to other men YOUR feelings, thoughts, suggestions. Others do the same. Doctors have an important place in the formula to getting us guys "regulated". WE, too, have the opportunity to supplement, with our anecdotal offerings. Have a good night and weekend. We, here, in SE Iowa are expecting our first 'snow on the ground' on Sunday. Time to get crockpot out and make some chili!

Hey Mike, the swelling took about a month for me.. Is this Your first time on Testopels? As far as all else past morning wood, I share the same question... I am on a Daily there.. 43... Now wondering what else in that Arena will I experience. Energy wise - Much improved... Anyone else can share?

Mike, I have very little swelling, get doctor t put pellets above your belt line next time. It takes the pressure off the implant point. I think you will like the pellets. I have been on it for a year now, get 12 pellets every three months. I am in my mid 60s and feel 18.

Yep, this is my first time. I like it so far. I can't wait till blood work next week.

Mike : Swelling life varies from man to man and also the "where" and "how" inserted w/trochar by Doc. Depth of implants can add to swelling, or should I say 'lack of depth'. Discussed here previously, helps when doc implants a bit 'higher' .......just above the beltline. Glad you are enjoying benefits.

I've got to the conversation really late. I only has the pellet therapy once. The doctor didn't file it right to Medicare. So he stopped the therapy. I could really tell that the pellets were helping me alot. Could one of you guys please give me a rundown on the benefits from that second medicine that starts with a "c". Thank you, Scott.

Hey Scott, Welcome aboard. "Clomid" helps with getting the Testicles back to size size. I as You am looking forward to knowing more and chatting with whomever has had the experience. How long have you been on Testosterone treatments? The longer on them, the Testicles work less and start to shrink... (Just Not too comforting). Have You noticed this happen to You?

Well I hope all are having a Good Christmas so far. Well, as an update - I no longer feel these inplants. I worry as This is the first time on this. I also called Dr. about chlomid. No response yet.. So far - Dependable Morning Woods.... If I were to say anything of change.. Anyone else with updates?

My only update is an insurance question: Anyone in Illinois -- on Medicare -- and now having coverage for TESTOPEL pellets/procedure? My urologist no longer to do this procedure AT ALL, because he is losing $23.00 PER PELLET because of recent Illinois MEDICARE guidelines. It is a mess! I am now writing letters to representatives and speaker of House, trying to voice how this is affecting me and my quality of life, along w/ many other men, too. I am able to get inj's. every two (2) weeks, but as all of you guys know, that is not the same.

Should I not have opportunity in the next ten (10) days, I'm wishing you all the happiest of Holidays and wonderful, healthy 2017!
