Help Needing Methadone Doctor In Tampa Fl

My husband and I just moved to Valrico, FL and I'm looking for a doctor that would help with his methadone maintaince. My husband is taking 150mg and has to go all the way to tampa everyday. the problem is he is starting to work early mornings and by the time he gets a ride and comes back he is barley making it to work on time(if traffic is good). He wants the job but he isn't going to be able to maintain the job especially when he has to go out of town for several days at a time soon.he's taking the methadone due to a neck fracture from serveral years ago so he isn't a "junkie" looking for a new fix. Before it was easier to go to the clinics everyday, now its becoming a nuisance for the job and myself. We need this job to support our family . It would help if any one could help us out or give us an idea to avoid going everyday. We just want our life back. Thanks in advance for anything.

Hi, Rashell! Sorry about the problems that this is causing both of you.

However, under the laws that are currently in place for Methadone treatment, he isn't going to be able to get it from a regular doctor.

Even though he was taking it for pain, by going to an addiction clinic, that is what he has gotten himself labeled under in his medical records and regular doctors aren't allowed to prescribe it for that. They can only prescribe it to treat severe pain.

The best suggestion I can make is that he look into treatment with Suboxone, since other than some counseling sessions, it usually is given via a monthly prescription that doesn't require seeing the doctor so frequently. It also contains a potent narcotic, so it can help with pain, just like Methadone.

I was diagnosed with adhd or ptsd and have been on medications that help me. But when I go and tell them what meds I'm on immediately I'm labeled as drug seeking. It sucks big-time, ESPECIALLY if you're on methadone. Years ago they didn't give a s***. Well they do now. Help.

Suboxone does not help pain plus it has narcan in it you would have to detox with subutex 1st, you'll never get that much from pain clinics, I would look at the closets towns for another clinic, I've been on methadone 25yrs came from Ohio w/ script of 120mg a day had to fight for 4 a day in FL, gonna cause me to go out west or back to Ohio! FL sucks all staunch conservatives!

I think you may have forgotten to mention that it is also a nightmare trip trying to get off it evan a small dose ,a lot of drs dont seem to understand how hard it is to get off ,also if you happen to have an accident or are in pain NOTHING will stop the pain until the sub or bupe is out of your system .thanx
