Folitrax 2.5 Mg
UpdatedI have been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica and am on Defcort 6 mg and Folittrax 2.5 mg. I am very concerned about the side effects. My doctor is monitoring the tablets very closely but what are the side effects of the abolve tablets. I am especially worried about my eyes getting affected.

I am located in Mumbai, India.
I had been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 1980 and after treating it with Neomercazole for 15 years, took oral iodine radiation and then went into hypothyroidism. I have been on Eltroxcin since then and at present am on 50 mg. every day and my TSH leves are quite normal.
I have also undergone hysterectomy in 1988 and a radical maestectomy in 1989. No chemo or radiation was given. I had taken a tablet for 2 to three years.
I then got diagnosed with osteoporosis but could not tolerate calcium tablets.
I have since last 35 years suffered from chronic fatigue, excruciating pain in the bones and muscles, stiffness in joints, burning eyes etc.
After a series of tests i have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, ostseomalacia and finally with polymyalgia rheumatica. I also have hiatus hernia and a small patch of vitiligo on my forehead.
My doctor ,and i have taken second opinions, inform me that i will only respond to steroids. Medrol 2 mg was given to me for 8 months and when withdrawn, the pain and all the symptoms recurred.
My current prescription is as follows:
50 mg Eltroxcin first thing in the morning.
Defcort 6 mg after breakfast
Raciper D capsule before lunch
Folvite 5 mg after lunch
Raciper D capsule before dinner
Capsule Calten at bedtime
Valium 2.5 mg at bedtime
On every Sunday i have to take Folitrax 2.5 mg morning and night before meals.
For now, some of the other tablets which i was also taking like Osteophos 70 and Storvaz E 10 mg have been discontinued.
I definitely have had a lot of relief from my pain. I have not put on any weight. My complexion has become a little darker. I have absolutely no appetite but i do eat three small meals a day. My current weight is 45 kgs and i am 64 years old.
I have read on the net the short term and long term effects of steroids.
My question is if i have to take Folitrax 2.5 mg on a long term basis should i take it or just suffer the pain and spare further complications.
My doctor is monitoring medication very closely and making me take 6 weekly reports to check certain levels but i am very anxious.
What would you recommend?
Hoping to hear from you and thank you for your reply.
Regards
