Mild stomach cramping is normal, however severe pain is listed as an important problem and you should call her doctor immediately.

GET YOUR DAUGHTER OFF THIS DRUG ASAP! I WILL NEVER TAKE THIS AGAIN. I felt like I was POISONED. I started taking flagyl on Saturday and I stopped on Sunday and am still having digestive problems from it. Ask for an alternative if you have an option. I had Nausea, lethargy, inability to concentrate, depression, tiredness, joint pain, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting and bad taste. Loss of appetite, and sore throat. I had numbness and tingling in my hands and legs. My legs are still numb. I still feel basically rotten. I can fully understand it when other reviewers say they would rather commit suicide than take this drug again. I feel as if it is a poison rather than a medication. I will look at other options before I take this drug again. It is a very scary drug. I can believe it when people say they have lingering side effects.

My son took flagyl Feb 20, 2008 for 5 days. He cannot concentrate, he is in a fog, dizzy, tired, memory loss. Everyday I wish I could take his pain I wish I would have known about this drug I would have NEVER let him take it. My son is a senior in high school he was an all A's student ...not anymore, he can;t concentrate. Now he is depressed either by the Flagyl or the fact that now he is wondering if he can go to college...he was accepted into U of M in December that seems so long ago. I love him to pieces and I can't believe this is happening...it feels like a really bad dream.

I wouldn't freak out about it. This is prescribed a lot for virginal infections. I am taking it right now twice a day for 7 days. I have not had any side effects from it - however I have taken it before. I guess it would all depend on why you are taking the med, and how sensitive your stomach is.

I took it for a week for an intestinal issue and had *no* side effects whatsoever. However, later it was determined - after test results came back - that I should have been on something else, so now I'll be on another pill for a week - although this drug still helped a bit.

My grandson (age 9-1/2) was put on this and it made a mess of him, but his doc and a 2nd opinion said that if he could tolerate it to stay on it. Sort of an 'ideology of in for a dime, in for a dollar'. I don't agree, even tho' after 8 days he is STARTING to get better.

the veterinarian prescribed this to my mid-size dog to treat diarrhea that wouldn't stop. he was prescribed 2 pills a day for seven days. after four pills, he became so lethargic i thought i was losing him. i didn't give him more pills. the diarrhea stopped. he recovered, but i'll make sure he never takes it again. it was very scary.

This Drug Is Evil. Almost Killed Me Too. Group Health Prescribed Flagyl to me several years ago for something minor. (can't remember what right this second..maybe a bladder infection, sinus infection? Sorry I can't recall) and during treatment I started getting severe, doubling over stomach pains. Even water would cause me to have to have diarrhea immediately. I lost 15-20 pounds since I couldn't eat without having crippling pain in my stomach and bloody diarrhea. ( before I was at a normal weight at 5'5 somewhere near 120lbs. Then went down to about 100lbs. I looked absolutely emaciated by the end. Group Health kept sending me home with no answers or cures. Gave me ulcer medication which didn't work. Told me to stick to an all white food diet. Still the pain and blood. Had to quit my job.Was in so much pain (and frequent bathroom visits) I had to stay with my mother to be taken care of. This ordeal must have lasted for at least a few months. I'd have to see my medical records to know for sure)
So at the end I (Thank God) saw a Dr who wasn't my normal Dr. He became so concerned that he immediately got me an appointment with a specialist who did a colonoscopy and found me to have:
PANCREATITUS, ULCERATIVE COLITIS AND A GALL STONE.

They said this normally only happens to long time heavy drinkers. I was 22 and drank moderately maybe three times a year.

They wanted me to have my Gallbladder removed, they said it would keep coming back if I didn't. but I'm a promotional model and need to wear a bikini sometimes for work and I would have had a scar that may keep me from getting jobs so I declined, I'd have it removed if it came back. It Hasn't Come Back Because I Haven't Taken Flagyl Ever Since!

SERIOUSLY, THIS DRUG IS DANGEROUS.

I took flagyl for a supposed C. Difficile infection, that 4 different tests proved I didn't have. I had Ulcerative Colitis, which I'd had for 16 yrs, and was doing quite well controlling. But, within 4 days of taking just two doses of this medication I was nearly dead. I ended up with a perforated colon and had become septic and required emergency surgery. I was on life support for a week after, and no one knew if I'd survive. I was in hospital for 3 months and spent over 6 months total recovering. I would advise anyone to NEVER take this medication. The side effects more often than not, outweigh the benefits. If I had time back I would have stuck with my gut instincts and would have continued to refuse the drug. I learned the hard way to always trust my gut instincts. This drug is dangerous!

I have been taking Flagyl for 5 days now, and I also feel like I have been POISONED. I just got home from the clinic because I feel so sick. The doctor said I contracted some flu-like illness. However, I started feeling sick just a few hours after taking the first dose. Symptoms: body aches, sore throat, feel inflamed (curiously, no fever, however), dizzy, shortness of breath and sad. I will never take this drug again!!

My son takes Flagyl. He has chronic Lyme disease. This an old fashioned antibotic. I can't imagine why a doctor would prescribe it for some ya'lls conditions. My son is 25 yrs old today. A real shame to be so sick for so long. The flagyl hasn't cured him. It also hasn't made him any sicker. I guess it effects everybody differently.

I had dark severe depression from taking 1 tablet. For 2-3 weeks I wanted to kill myself. Begged people to not leave me alone with anything. Completely out of character. Feeling beside myself. Oral thrush so bad looked like I was from Star Wars (long white hairs all over tongue-2/3weeks, very embarrassing) Never take this it is toxic poison.

I got my gallbladder removed two weeks ago. For a few days I had yellow diarrhea. But after that I was recovering well and feeling better. 4 days ago on my follow up visit the surgeon gave me Flagyl 500 mg 3 times a day for 7 days. As soon as I started taking this it made me so sick, by the third day I was going to the bathroom over 10 times a day. I was Extremely nauseous, had a constant headache, chills, my heart was going very fast. I had to drive to the airport to pick up my husband and I was about to stop and call an ambulance I thought I was going to die!! It is the most horrible feeling, severe dizziness, confusion, anxiety, cramps. I called the doctor office this morning after 3 days taking it and the nurse said "all that was NORMAL" while taking the medication! And she added "but if you feel like you can't tolerate it then stop taking it, the doctor just gave it to you as prevention". He didn't ask for stool samples or anything and I'm still very weak from my surgery. I read online that this medication gave cancer to rats and mices on lab test. I stopped this morning and I'm concerned if its bad to just stop like this. Please any support would be appreciated. Thank you!!!
