I agree Dane, however there are a lot of people that get injured and docs prescribe opiates, and these people, not really knowing much about them, take it. Then they get hooked before their script runs out. Theres fault on both sides...

Jay I agree with you 100%, The DEA is to blame and i will do anything i can to help. I live in TN. and have the same problem and the only pharmacy that had my meds wanted $540.00 for 180 oxycodone 30mg. I am in real pain and need them now. they tell me maybe 3/4/13 if i get there in time. they will not hold my prescription until they have it in stock. All the others just say it is on back order.If you want to start a class law suit i would like to get in and help. Just let me know what i can do to help. Hi. I realize your post is from 2 years ago, but I am wondering if you ever pursued legal action against anyone? I am having the same problem....a legitimate injury from a bad car accident, and cannot get my prescription filled.....I was given a detailed reason from the pharmacist, with a truthful explanation for who is responsible. It is very frustrating for me. They should have to take a different tact when trying to address the drug trafficking situation, so that honest people with true needs can receive treatment. Please let me know if you have any information. Thank you.

It is Crazy!! I can't believe I've spent all day trying to find a place to accept my Presc. That crappy thing is Heroin is on the rise ! Cause of this! Gov. Basically sponsoring ALCIDA! As soon as Oxcontin was taking off shelves! Street heroin sales went thru roof! Which is pathetic that people have to use that to manage there pain! And people abusing them dnt help! If u run out dnt go to rehab or hospital and bring more attention to this! Go simply get Suboxin and u can quit in 30 days and no one will know!! It's The family interventions etc! Alcohol is worst Drug and most Violent drug on Planet!! Hands down! Liquor store near every School!!

My insurance wouldn't cover OxyContin so I went with a fyentnol patch and for the first time in many years feel much better. I still take oxycodone for morning and evening pain and it is next to impossible. I hap a pharmist tell me straight about what's going on cause I live south is Tampa. In a nutshell some places don't get any shipments at all if that have dispensed too many in the past. The places that still dispense the pain meds get only a number of pills they are alowed within a months time. Check you local pharmacy and see when they get their shipments in. It's only once a month in most cases that a place gets their supply in and I'm sure it is gone in the first 48 hours. This sucks and you might have to go a week without (due to other health conditions that is a serious problem) but I hang in there and always try to be prepared and put a few aside when I can so when I do have to wait a week to fill it I can make it without ending up in the hospital. It sucks that folks with good doctors, long term pain clients are getting turned away. I'd HATE to be a pharmacist right now. If you don't live in Florida your best bet is to do mail order through Right Source and ask your doctor to help you get a 90 day supply through right source. ATTN: Right Source WILL NOT SHIP TO FLORIDA! The only state in the nation they won't send pain meds to. Yet another way to screw the people who really need the meds. South Florida started this problem and now all is down here suffer more than anyplace in the United States. Thanks for adding pain and stress to the sick and hurt. I'm glad the DEA have their s*** totgeher and are doing this right IM KIDDING OF COURSE. Someone needs to fix this problem right away.

The entire situation in FL is out of control. I have not been able to get my Prescription's filled for over 3 months!Walgreens was filling it but stopped they keep saying they don't have them etc.. Which is a lie because a person that goes to my doctor has been getting theirs filled every month. I had to find a hole in the wall pharmacy that doesn't accept insurance and they are charging $10 per pill they have become legalized drug dealers. The DEA is telling the pharmacies all kinds of excuses which are all lies they want people to become dependent on them and you are forced to buy them at these pharmacies that they probablly run. I have had it with all of it, it's such a shame people who really need their meds can't get them. I have severe nerve damage I didn't walk for 2 yrs and finally found a pill that actually works and now I can't get them because you are labeled as a drug user. I don't know if any of you have gone through the withdraws from oxycodone but believe me its horrible It lasted 3 weeks and I could not function. When the doctors say withdraws last up to 48hrs they are lying it is unbearable and last for weeks. If the doctor writs a legitimate prescription I don't know why the pharmacist won't fill them everyone is different and respond to meds differently. Florida needs to come up with a solution to the problem but by the time they do most people taking these meds will prob have already passed away. It's a mess and needs to stop I went to every pharmacy in Tampa FL and the ones that would fill them were charging $9-11 each which is insane I've called the DEA and Congress they don't care about people like us and it will just make you angry so don't waste your time. I feel for ya I truly do. I called everyone from the DEA to Florida Department of Health and filed complaints. FDOH was the nicest and seem to be trying to help the ones who are truly in need. First off NEVER EVER USE WALGREENS. My doctors office said they call them and make them fill out an additional form and it takes at least 24 hours to get your prescription filled. I did all the , after being a 35+ year client of only Walgreens. My prescription costs alone is enough to pay 3 of their employees salaries for the entire year. They begged me to keep using their stores and said it up to the pharmacist to decide if they get dispensed. Like I said my own doctor told me to stop using them. Publix and Walmart seem to be the kindest at understanding the pain your in and seem to do their very best to accommodate you. A few pharmacists are forthcoming on when they get their shipments and give you the best chance of getting them filled. Have you tried a fyntenol patch? I think it is the best thing going. It gives you steady pain meds for 72 hours. My first time on them and I slept a full nights sleep, the first one in 8 years! Tell your story to a pharmist who cares and you will treated better quickly. These places mostly get one shipment a month so it's important to keep trying every day, even by phone, and see if the shipment is in yet. Now please ONLY FOLKS WHO REALLY NEED THEM FOR LIDGET PAIN DO THIS. I don't need fakers and dealers messing up my chances to get my meds. Stay tenatious and find a pharmist who cares and will listen to your entire story. Call you insurance company and maybe they can help, who knows they are the ones paying all the money I'd think they can pull a little weight. The smaller mom and pop type places are nice but now adays you have to have been a client for some time before they can take care of you. I can understand that they need to take care of their regulars first. If you use my formula you should have luck. I even brought in my medical file to show the pharmist once and he was shocked and sorry cause a lot if pain can't be seen from the outside. Try the patch, they are cheap and they work the best. You are 100% right! I live in Las Vegas and myself and my boyfriend both have legitimate scripts for medication but like you said they are as worthless as the paper they are written on. I went to 11 pharmacies yesterday to get mine filled and we still can't find a pharmacy today that has any to fill his. But the dealers on the street are FLUSH with the exact same medication right now!

I am with you 100% I have an intramedullary astrocytoma tumor in my thoracic spine and I was just told today that my pain prescriptions will no longer be filled at my local pharmacy!! What are my options now? I've been EVERYWHERE and done everything that I can physically manage to do! I have a few weeks to deal with this. Wow, hard to believe this is America at times.

My mother has chrons disease and ulcerative colitis she also has a bad back shes had 6 surgerys within the last year she had a colostomy and then was hiven a j-pouch its a bag in her stomach because she doesn't have a colon anymore right now she's having a flare she uses the restroom 20 or more times a day shes bleeding vomiting and is in chronic pain every day she gets bad headaches now they tell her she has more fluid in her brain then she suppose to she has a tumor in her stomach that cant be removed because she'll bleed to death she also has 3a hernias in her stomach that the doctor wont even bother touching because of the bleeding and they also told her two weeks ago she might have lupus she already has a auto immune disease she in pain every single day the only way shes able to function sometimes is when she has her pain meds we live in Tucson nobody has them we drove to phoenix and nothing my mom is in pain and i dont know what to do to help her if something happens to my mom im gonna sue who ever is doing this DEA or pharmacys i dont care they shouldnt take it out on the sick just because spoiled kids with money go out and do what they want and over dosed on them thats not to blame on the sick blame there parents.

I have had MS with chronic pain that is hard to control. For the past two years these idiots at the pharmacies are soo scared of the government they are wlling to let us suffer. The government need to get the economy and crap like that taken care of. Not stick their stupid noses in our business. Doctors go through years of schooling but yet these politicians think they know better. Realllyyy!!! These pharmacies need to grow some you know what so they can take care of their patients. And my hope is that everyone in the Dea has someone in sooo much pain but get treated like the rest of us. Then lets see how they like it. I am sorry to all that are like me suffering due to the government sticking their noses where they dont belong.

I know and a lot of these are old post and it 2013 now and no changes. we as patients need to do something. the government shouldnt telll us whatis wrong with us that why we pay doctors . We all need to get together and do whatever we can. Whether it be start with petitions . Helll without meds i cant get out bed in morns and have 2 kids and a grandbaby. I just don't know why i cant get my medicine!
