False Negative Urine Screen For Hydrocodone

Updated

I take Norco 10/325 for pain related to shingles and came up negative for a drug screen at the pain management doctor's office and have been taking them. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I take 2 different antibiotics. They are Azithromycin 500mg daily and Ceftin 500 mg twice daily for 5 months. Could this be a factor?

No, usually they will cause false positives, not false negatives.

Have you been more active than usual recently?

Have you increased your fluid intake or changed anything else?

Nobody has a good answer to this? I take 60mg oxycodone per day and my urine test came back negative. I take my meds every day but my doctor cut me off. Now I'm gunna be f88ked because I have 3 herniated discs and severe deg disc disease. Why would the test come up neg?

The same thing happened to me @ pain management but instead I tested positive for Tramadol, I've never taken Tramadol. The generic Norco is so weak since the formulation changes that I think that Tramadol is Norco now & there is little if any Hydrocodone in them. Would explain why I'm in severe pain after taking my Norco, no, not a tolerence thing, the FDA is making us suffer!!

LAK

That's a ridiculous statement to make. THE FDA HAS NO AGENDA TO MAKE PEOPLE (You) SUFFER. I'm sorry that your pain isn't being relieved as it once was with hydrocodone. I have issues with government regulations and over reaching into the physician/patient relationship but to make statements like tramadol is in generic norco just makes genuine complaints looked upon like we are all delusional making positive change nearly impossible......

FYI. Tolerance does not imply addiction, merely a state that requires increased dosage to sustain the same level of relief. Opioids and opiates cause tolerance at some level in humans, some less then others......

The following excerpt is quoted from the American Academy of Pain Medicine:

"Analysis of opiate metabolites can also reveal information that explains or can predict clinical outcomes. Recently, the metabolites noroxycodone and norhydrocodone were shown to be important in identifying those patients who were rapid metabolizers of oxycodone or hydrocodone. Rapid metabolizers may have shorter duration of action of hydrocodone and oxycodone. UDT focused only on the parent medications, oxycodone or hydrocodone, would fail to identify the patient-specific metabolic variation and potentially yield false-negative results."

I regularly take 2 Norco 10/325. I took labs on Thursday at approximately 2 pm and the medication did not show up on my urine test. I feel this was because I had taken my last pills before bed the night before, therefore there was about 17 hours between the time I took the pills and my test. Why didn't they show up? My doctor is saying I'm not taking them but I am!!

My girlfriend is on a lot of gastrointestinal meds (including some supplements / zinc / antidepressants) and has IBS. So could all of these meds and Norco 5mg cause her to have her have a false negative on her urine screen?

I have been taking hydrocodone, tramadol, klonopin, and zanaflex for 12 years, after 4 back surgeries. Am now testing negative for all, and been kicked out of the pain program.

Same thing happened to me.i just got a letter in the mail today saying they will no longer give me my Vicodin.i only took 2a day at 12 hours in between and I take them on time.my results were negative in my urine.though I won't fight it ,because it would be a waste of time,I will make sure I mention it to my doctor when I see him I need to do this because I'm ksure t going to have anyone look at me cross eyed as if I'm some piece of crap.keep your pills even though I will suffer with the pain in which I will be having surgery for in a few weeks.i can't take nsaids for pain so I'm stuck with tylenol

The Norco I've been taking is not showing up at my pain management urine test. The MD stopped my medication that I have been on for years. Never had this problem before. What's happening? I'm taking my meds and don't understand. The Dr says he doesn't either unless I am not taking them. Help!
