I would like to know why the price of Elmiron is outrageously high. This is NOT a new drug, I have been taking it since it came on the market, approximately 25 years ago. We are being gouged!!!

The owner/administrator of this website does not manufacture, prescribe, nor sell any medications. Thus they do not have anything to do with medication pricing, unfortunately. There are many that have increased crazily in price over the past few years, so I can assure you that you are not the only one dealing with such an issue. I recently had a medication that went from around $40 suddenly go to over $150, and that is with good insurance. One local pharmacist told me he used to be able to buy 1,000 tablets of the antibiotic Cephalexlin for a little over $30 a month, now the same amount is about $1,500.

However, the manufacturer of Elmiron does have a program that might help you, eligible people can get prescriptions for as low as $5 a month. You can call them for more details and to see if you qualify at 866-917-9748.

This program, however, is not available for anyone using a state, or federal government insurance program.

My personal opinion on why the price keeps going up is that is just due to greed, but like I said, that is just my opinion, so I doubt it's really worth anything.

Can you post back and let me know if you have any luck finding assistance?

They can raise prices because they CAN. We have no consumer protection. I just stocked up on it while in Italy, it is 1/4 the price. But why no generic? I have been taking Elmiron since it came on the market, around 20 years ago. Once I us up my supply, I will not take anymore. I will just take Aloe Vera by Desert Harvest.
