Drug Side Affects?!

I have been on gabapentin 900 mgs a day,tapered down to half that dose,then doc gave me 20mg twice a day,went through horrific withdrawal and doc didnt tell me,have problems with my teeth and mouth since taking gabapentin,i suck constantly on my teeth,teeth like plastic rubber and roof of mouth,burning gums,6th day off gaba and i still have same side affects,lots more,whats happening with my mouth?get no answers from my doc,the pains back worse than ever,help please!

That doesn't sound normal for coming off of Gabapentin. Have you consulted a dentist? I really think you should to get a handle on what's going on here.

Have you ever had dental problems, before?

Neurontin/gabapentin can have your typical withdrawal symptoms upon reducing dosage or stopping the med all together..I would never recommend just stopping this medication..let alone if you're taking a high dose (600-800mg 3x per day). One time I had stopped taking the med for 3-5 days..this was when I had been taking 2400-3000 mg a day (roughly 800mg 3x per day) for about 1 year. Those days were hell...I had the typical withdraws..restless legs/insomnia, sore & stiff all over, no appetite, and the sweats. I've been an opiate addict for a little over 10 years now & this was definitely similar; not worse (duhh), but similar.. I know this medication is used for many things..I take it for anxiety and for its pain relieving properties. I think that besides overall long term use, the fact that it's used in pain management with its nerve aiding properties, is why I had such a bad withdrawal upon stopping gabapentin. I would always talk to the Dr who's providing you the medication AND NEVER JUST STOP. You can become very sick and there are documented cases of severe seizures upon just stopping gabapentin.
