Drug Seeking
UpdatedRead some of these messages and you'll see they are more about getting some particular drug rather than seeking pain relief. If you go to a pain management doctor thinking you know exactly what drug and quantity you want then you sound like a drug seeker. When was the last time you had an MRI? Is it possible that arthritis is now complicating your condition? The answer for you will not always be more drugs and higher doses. The doctor is the Pro. Go in ready to explain where you are and then LISTEN. There are new meds and procedures and some of the options may be difficult. Maybe it's time to try physical therapy again. Do you really want to spend the rest of your life taking increasingly higher levels of drugs until your organs start shutting down? How about life on dialysis. Be the patient, even if you don't always get it your way. To my fellow chronic pain patients - seek quality of life and accept that you may never again be completely free from pain. Would you really prefer to be a drooling zombie, laying in bed, unable to care for your basic needs and waiting to die. Partner with your Doctor for LIFE, NOT DRUGS.
