Does Hydrocodone Contain Amphetamines And Acetaminophen?

Looking for information concerning hydrocodone and what the answer to the title of page is?

My husband bought a detox kit. But along with the detox he purchased a test for opiates (in hydrocodone) as well as a test for amphetamine.... he says that hydrocodone also has amphetamine in it and will show positive. I know hydrocodone has acetaminophen in it...But not amphetamine ? Just need to know if it will show as amphetamine or maybe he has taken something other than just hydrocodone?

@Curious cat - Hydrocodone does NOT contain Acetaminophen. Those are two separate drugs on their own. For instance, Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in many over the counter products including Tylenol. However, Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen are often used as active ingredients together in medications such as Vicodin and Lortab.

As to your other question, no - Hydrocodone is not considered an amphetamine. It is an opioid pain reliever, which is a completely different class of drug. I hope this helps!

I beg your pardon but hydrocodone does contain acetaminophen. In the 5-325 pills the 325 is 325 mg. of acetaminophen.

Hi Kat - Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen are actually two different drugs, often combined to be the active ingredients of pain killers such as Vicodin, Lortab, Norco, and the generic forms of this combination.

For the breakdown which you listed in your example of "5-325", you are right that the 325 refers to 325 mg of Acetaminophen. And in that case, the 5 would refer to 5 mg Hydrocodone. So what you are actually listing in your example is a combination pain killer drug which contains BOTH Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen.

But Hydrocodone on its own does NOT contain Acetaminophen. I know this to be true because there are drugs on the market such as Hysingla ER and Zohydro ER which contain Hydrocodone as the only active ingredient. I hope this helps to clear things up.
