I understand the (somewhat) valid reasons someone might make such a statement, but be advised- the chronically ill patients who've suffered a lifetime due to their disability, and who've seen scores of dr's, had scores of failed procedures/tests/meds etc.- typically know what it is that works & doesnt for their ailments & thats also usually the result of lengthy repeated conversations with the qualified board cert md's they've seen over the years who informs the patient that ____ (fill in blank with med of choice here) is likely the only med to continue working for them since it's the only one which has thus far... So please dont make blanket-statements or judgement eluding to what seems to you as "Med-seeing behavior"-- it's a bit close minded & partly why this country is currently in the medical crisis it's in & what created the ungodly witch hunt we're now experiencing in this country which is stripping legitimate patients of very necessary meds which worked for them successfully without harm for a lifetime!...

However, now-- due to a plethora of md's/do's (post 1979) who were pushed thru med school without the proper education on addictions, narcotics/benzodiazepines, etc. & who were certainly unqualified to dispense such meds, nor explain their proper usage to their patients - it's partly this reason we have this horrid epidemic of legitimately sick ppl dying from these meds, & addicts using dr's to obtain such meds & as a result we now have legitimate patients (with thick files proving their conditions going back decades in some cases ) being lumped-in with the med-seeking addicts & are now preyed upon by the dea along with their doctors in an unimaginable witch-hunt!?.. It's incredible!! Only the un-educated (which is not entirely their fault) & big pharma is to blame here) it sounds ridiculous to imagine any properly educated person on the subject- would be against having properly vetted, properly-educated-physicians-on-the-subject-of-proper-dispensing &/or prescribing anyyyyy medication at all which is working for (a properly vetted), "Properly-qualifying--patient" after any & all other-methods had been tried & failed!??

What the hell makes a government-dea employee qualified to make such medical decisions with zero training? I've heard these same dea monsters say: "I dont care what happens to these patients when we strip them of their meds without proper titration or other gold-standard-of-care--meds-prescribed-to-safely-titrate a patient. Now, they're just as happy to cease all meds post haste with zero medical intervention which is unethical and barbaric & for absolutely no vailid reason whatsoever!!-(other than this bulls*** witch hunt the gov magically thinks will solve an "Illegal-street-drug" problem!?... Its ridiculous!!! Im sick of no one doing anything about the illegal search & seizure of medical records in offices (no regard for hipa) & based on no proof of illegal activity in said patient or dr. Whatsoever! What the hell are you all going to do when the time comes and its your own family members desperately in need of a medication the government/dea/fda has now suddenly decided to deem of no medical value whatsoever?---even after such med has been deemed valid for 40-50+ years!???

I hope every single human being who ignores this ongoing witch hunt or who wholeheartedly supports it, finds themselves in desperate and serious need of such meds one day for themselves or their child or loved ones--& can not under any circumstances access it to save their lives or give them quality if life! --(not access it by legal means or illegal means!)- & find yourselves forced to watch their loved ones (or themselves) dye ma miserable death, or perhaps commit suicide a result of living in unimaginable agony anymore-(like so many of "Us" are now forced to watch our loved ones suffer) ---this awful agony which was previously fixed with meds -that are now suddenly deemed "Class I" - useless to medical science at all.. Id like to know what your thoughts will be then? Furthermore who are "You-all" to judge a single persons agony, or their journey without crawling thru the hell on your knees like they likely have???..

Ignorance never solved a problem or made it vanish- and education (with real-scientific-data) never caused a scourge.... Also, 'drug addicts, seek to feel "High"-- "Pain-patients" or mentally-ill" merely seek relief - the majority preferably without mental impairment,-(aka: feeling "High") and addiction is not the same thing as being physiologically dependent-- the two conditions are completely unrelated and anyone who confuses the two conditions should not be practicing medicine at all!-- I urge you all to please do something now about this "Witch hunt"-- for the sake of your children, loved ones & yourselves!--before it's too late!- or this world will indeed become a living hell you dont want to imagine--& completely out of your hands...

I agree. The same thing happened to me with Dr. Russ and now he had to take all of his patients off of medications they need because some ***** messed it up. I have severe anxiety and now my life changed dramatically cause I am not getting the medication that I need.

Re: jersey girl (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

I suffer severe anxiety almost daily Jersey Girl!!! Can you find a psychiatrist in your area or within a 50 mile radius if that's what it takes then for sure a psychiatrist knows what they are doing more so than a Family Doctor. And Xanax, Lorazepam, Valium, Klonopin were made for ANXIETY damn it just like insulin is made for a diabetic!!! Chronic Anxiety is a very serious disease. Another off label pill for anxiety is BACLOFEN!!! Take 20 mg (3)xs a day if the drs won't give you what benzodiazepines are truly made for.

A very famous heart surgeon wrote a book about Baclofen and how it SAVED HIS LIFE!!! His High Stress Job Made him DRINK EVERYDAY!!!
He was prescribed BACLOFEN in high doses as an "off label" anxiety drug!!!
It worked very successfully for him:)

XO????

Is it possible for you to see a Psychiatrist if you aren't doing so already?

Get them to prescribe you "off label" Baclofen (20mg x 3=Daily)...This works great for chronic anxiety!!!??

Re: Reb (# 121) Expand Referenced Message

Oh, so sorry. Patients have been calling my office telling me that due to his "prescribing practices" he as "lost the ability to prescribe controlled substances - 'one patient spoiled it for everyone'" All of you should know that there is the New Jersey Prescription Monitoring Program so now all providers will be severely limiting benzodiazapine access across the whole state. If you want to find out more about this provider, simply google search his name. Oh, and don't call my office, you would be barking up the very wrong tree.

Re: Sizzle10 (# 141) Expand Referenced Message

What did you do?! You identified a doctor that freely prescribes benzos on the Internet! Aren't you people supposed to keep this secret??? The NJ DEA (I work with them) scan these blogs looking for these doctor guys/gals all the time to shut them down, appropriately so - the benzo - opiate pond is drying up real fast, uh "Sizzle".

Re: Kelly (# 157) Expand Referenced Message

He lost his DEA certificate due to his inappropriate prescribing of Xanax and other controlled substances to known drug addicts. NJ cracking down real hard on these bums

Re: Rich (# 169) Expand Referenced Message

Responsible physicians refer to Subutex as synthetic heroin and you want a benzo on top of that?! And I guess you are buying counterfeit bars on the street (another red flag, physicians know their patients who refer to Xanax 2 mg tablets as "bars" are all addicts). Looks like all you really need is rehab now. You will no longer get the drugs you want now that we have the NJPMP in active use. Check it out.

I used to be on Xanax for almost ten years because I have the same problem as you with severe anxiety disorder and social phobia and panic attacks. I thought the same thing as you that I should be on them for the rest of my life because they helped me so much. I never abused them and have a family history of anxiety so I thought that I was unable to live without them. I had to be taken off of them and put on Klonopin, which I was never a big fan of, because of someone on here put my doctors name saying he would write out Xanax to anyone and he was no longer able to write them out for people who really needed it, so I had no choice but to switch over. In the beginning I thought I was not going to be able to function properly without being on Xanax but I did get used to them and although it is not the same thing it does help a lot and I know I don't have to be on Xanax for the rest of my life and even if I wanted to that would have never happened because it is becoming harder and harder to get a doctor to prescribe them to you, so I assume in the years to come they will not be prescribing them at all. I would suggest you be open to try new things even if you don't think they will work. Good luck to you.
