Jolina I'm 30 and had c3-4 fused at 26 and a disc replacement at c5-6 7mos after that... I'm not saying not to be scared but it really wasn't that bad. Just talk to your surgeon before the surgery and get the answers to any questions you have so you feel more at ease.

The max FDA recommendation for tylenol is 4,000 mgs a 24 hr period, that includes prescription tylenol containing products.

Frustrated,

Due to the amount of tylenol (500 mgs) you won't find a dr that will rx you anything that will exceed the FDA 4,000 mgs of tylenol in a 24 hr period. The FDA has asked pharmaceutical companies to reduce the amount of tylenol to 325 mgs in prescription tylenol combination products. With the 325 mgs the dosing is 1 or 2 tablets of a prescription product containing 325 mgs of acetaminophen up to 6 times a day (12 dosage units) not to exceed the maximum daily dose of acetaminophen (4000 mgs).

Hi Melvin! That is not true for all cases (I wish it was.) I took Lortab 10/500 1-2 every 3-4 hrs not to exceed 7 in a day for 3 years, prior to that they had me on 6 per day and then 5. I've been on the hydrocodone since my injury in 2005. I was just switched to Norco 10/325 x5 per day to go with Tramadol (ultram 300mg er.) My new pm doctor doesn't believe in using short acting medications as a primary source of pain control (it's not a law here, just the doctor's preference.) I can't take anything stronger than hydrocodone; actually, I won't take anything stronger. My new pm doctor thought I was nuts when I turned down percocet for break-through to go with the fentanyl patch. I turned the patch down as well. He laughed at me when I said no to oxycontin. If I wanted to get high, I would smoke pot. But I don't want to and all of those types of meds make me higher than a kite. But I digress. I tried the ultram 300mg 1x, I couldn't fill the entire rx, it was 250.00, the 1 pill was 9.50. My insurance doesn't cover it. I didn't use the Norco that he gave me, I wanted to see what the ultram was like and give it a fair shot. But because I didn't take the Norco, I started to go through withdrawals 9 hours after my last dose of Norco. So now, I only take the break-through meds and use that as my primary source of pain control. Unfortunately, since I've been on hydrocodone for almost 8 years, it wears off after 3 hours. So my pain isn't controlled for 9 hours every day. I can't tell my pm doctor this because he will force the stronger stuff on me or worse, methadone to go with the norco. Due to the stigma that is associated with methadone, I won't even fill it. Plus, I hear the side effects of Methadone are pretty intense. I'm very sensitive and side effects really hit me hard. I miss my old pm doctor. He didn't force the strong meds on me and was ok with me taking Lortab 10/500 x7 as long as I had my liver checked 2x per year, which I did. My old pm doctor doesn't take my new insurance and doesn't accept cash patients so I had to switch. I've been miserable and suffering since. I don't sleep well anymore, my grades have dropped in school (full-time law student) and I spend a lot of time in bed because of my pain level being so high. I hate it. I wish I could find a pm doctor that will put me back on the Lortab the way I was prescribed it before or one that if he insisted on the Norco, he would at least prescribe it 1-2 every 3 hours not to exceed 9 in a day. I need a double shoulder replacement and my insurance won't cover it until I'm in my 50's. Since the pain can be controlled by medication, I have to wait another 10 years :( (that in itself should be illegal.)

Ok I know everyone wants there meds. I was like that too and still want some. Sneezed to hard and almost died. Owwww. Anyway for withdrawal symptoms try some cold pills, just two....vinager,honey in a 4 oz glass of warm water every day. If u live in the NC area of pine Hurst don't go to Jerry Paterson or Dr Skeen! They suck....

No luck here yet. I have yet to go to pain management. All of them here want procedures. The one my Dr wants to refer me to is posed in front of a fancy, (Say costly) machine used to do guided procedures. There is one clinic 40 miles from me across state line. I want to be refered there. Do any of you know if that is illegal?

HI THERE
I have been following this for a while. All docs will think u are a drug seeker because they don't care what's wrong with you. For some stupid reason after 2 years they want to cut u off. It could be because they think people are selling their meds. Bring Med records with u everywhere and know what's in them. I think I'm gonna report some doctors too. Steroid injections don't cure arthritis or degenerative disc disease. Which is what I have. My husband foot looks like a football and they gave him shots in his back. They are just there to bleed your insurance DRY

I am 45 years of age (young lady) I was diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 13. Since then I have had 4 major spine surguries to help fix me.But sadley I have rods, bolts, screws, hooks. I will always have severe back pain.I finally was able to manage my pain threw some contrlled substances. However I am now in a different state...Waterbury Ct.. Sadly I have seen many docotors but none of them would give me any of my medications. Now I am very sick, never went threw "withdrawls"not pleasant. So I have been discriminated by all of them. Also I would like to let everyone know that Dr.Adhan Sadiq from the Staywell health center in waterbury ct,compared me to no other but Micheal Jakson, for real not a joke. He tried telling me that M.J. was on the same medications I am on and that I should not be taking any of the medications becuase I will die just like M.J.I could not belive what I heard him say.Not to mention I am on cholesterol medication as well (crestor) and he WOULD NOT GIVE ME THAT Medication eather.Sadly this runs in my family,my mother had it and my father has it.So I guess I am going to die of a heart attack and not be able to manage my pain. What does one do when a so call physician will not give me my proper medications.I smell a major law suit brewing. Please someone help me.........

I would also like to say that one of the docotors herers and they will not give me the proper medications that I have been taking for over 10 yrs..They all have assumed I am a pill junky.THIS IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL.So I have been discriminated on the way I look and for using controlled substances that actually work and manage my pain
