BL, I have been reading your posts and others response to them. I am usually non confrontational, but it does appear you get under a lot of people's skin, and now me included. Let me tell you something, I used to have THE BEST PRIVATE INSURANCE money can buy. I was in the ER 5 days out of 7 a week, getting shot up with all kinds of high powered narcotics. Unfortunately I am on Medicaid now, I rarely go to the ER, as a chronic pain patient ER docs normally will not treat a chronic pain patient, but I have gone for other reasons. None of us asked for our pain situations we are in. I am not gonna list all that is wrong with me and bore you, but....I just want to say sometimes I think you think you know everything and I don't think you know s***. I now understand everyone's frustrations with you. Do you really think any of us want to be on disability, unable to work, have no quality of life?? No I wouldn't wish my miserable life on my worst enemy.

Sunshine, you asked for explanations. The link to the Ameritox Study is below. I did not make it up. Tighter laws and guidelines are to prevent people from OD'ing on heavy medications. Maybe the dr's that your 6 friends used will start going by the new CDC Guidelines now.

Oxycodone is usually used as a fast acting medication where Oxycontin is used many times as a long acting medication. I've been on both at the same time as well for chronic pain due to Crohn's Disease and osteonecrosis.

BL,

First off I went to the hospital for different reasons then my chronic pain. Not only that I had severe complications with the medication THE PRIVATE DOCTOR PUT ME ON!!!

And your comment about if people worked and paid for their insurance is A LOAD OF HORSE S***. No matter what insurance you have private or not, there is addiction within EVERY CLASS OF PEOPLE IN THIS NATION!!! ANY RACE, CLASS ETC. I don't believe any of the bull you put on here because I have already had 6 friends OD On heavy narcotics within THE LAST TWO MONTHS!!! Oh and for your INFO OR LACK OF, THEY ALL HAD PRIVATE INSURANCES.SO IF YOU FEEL THE NEED TO RESPOND TO ANY POSTS ON HERE, DONT RESPOND TO MINE!!! ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND DRS LIKE YOU THAT ARE CAUSING SUCH AN EPIDEMIC !!!!

Last but not least I think you should look up the dr in New Jersey who took all ins, however almost killed a few people due to lack of empathy for patients, YET HE WAS BUSTED FOR RUNNING A DRUG MILL IN CAMDEN NJ!!!!

GO KICK ROCKS!!!

Sunshine, the ER is not a place for chronic pain pateints. If someone has chronic pain they need to see their dr during regular hours. One of the things that Medicaid is suppose to do is cut down on the number of ER visits for things that the patient should be seeing their regular drs for. Reducing ER visits that Medicaid has to pay for also saves taxpayer money.

The thoughts that many have with Medicaid verses Private Insurance is if Medicaid patients had to pay for their insurance or have a job in order to have it that they would use it more responsibly. Another influence may be a study done by Ameritox that showed those on Medicaid came up positive for illegal substances more frequently than those with other health insurance and self pay patients.

Lost in LA,

I am blessed that you shared ur story and that yes we need to weed out the pill seekers. We are all here to help each other not hurt each other.

I'm a military brat of two navy veterans who both did double digit time along with my brother who is army. So I'm so blessed and thank u for your post.

P.s. Beware of BL.....

I realize this is a response to an old post but it has been one of the only responses i have seen that seems true to point. So many other questions I am reading and many responses seem like pill seekers. Those of us who have REAL PAIN issues are the ones in trouble. Your response was on point. I am not a veteran but my best friend was Navy & just passed away from cancer. He was 43. I go to a pain management Dr who is a neurologist. I am having issues only BC I am out of state caring for my dad who had an emergency trip to the ER & almost died. My Dr whom I have been seeing since 2008 is extremely helpful and understanding. Furthermore, since I have never been a problem patient or asked for an increase in 8 years he trusts me and helps me. I am not posting to whine about MY PROBLEM I just read your post and wanted to say thank you not only for your service (then and now) but thanks for posting such an educated and caring response. I worked on Camp Lejeune for 8 years and have much respect for all branches of our military.

skipto---NO not you--didn't see I addressed BL?? Whoever BL is no one knows however he or she never lets up with the "know-it-all" attitude with the sadistic overtones.
I am just nauseated by the constant put-downs by him (her) as we all need help not more hurt.

Teresa, did you show pain management your social card with your social security number on it ? When someone with Medicare is receiving benefits off of a spouse or parents work record, that persons social security number is on their Medicare card. This is somethng that anyone that deals with insurance in a drs office should know. Have you called Medicare and asked them for their advice? I have worked with Medicare patients and I have never heard of anyone not taking a patient because of the social security number on their Medicare, under the circumstances that you state. Is this just one drs office or several ? If it is just one drs office, maybe the person that you dealth with was new and wasn't aware of how Medicare works in situations like yours.

BL-I cannot believe you are still here?!?!
Why have you not been banned from posting?? You are simply a broken record of doom for us all. Even if your comments contain truth, ( which by the way not always do) you make statements as if we all deserve all bad futures. You are infuriatingly judgemental with a"holier than thou" attitude.
Go screw yourself!!

I absolutely completely agree. The explanation I have received from friends who work at the ER is, the ER is just to patch up life or death situations. They do not consider chronic pain a life or death situation. They believe we should be managed by pain management physicians.... Medicaid not only has a lower reimbursement rate but also requires more paperwork for preauthorizations....

I just have something I want to put out there and see what others say.....

1) why do I feel like new Drs in the er are afraid of pain patients ??

2) why is it at the er Medicaid patients get treated like crap but if you have private ins they kiss your butts ??

I'm sure I know the answer to 2)
But has anyone else felt this aggrivation

Hello To ALL, I am in need of pain med. I have been on Oxycodone 5 mg 3 x a day and Oxycontin 20 mg 3 x a day for over 17 years, my husband has retired from the military. When telling me that I have to go to pain management. The earliest they have an appointment is Sept.14 2016. I need a doctor now not 2 more months. I cannot believe they went as fare as to tell me that since my husband is retired that this service is for active duty. I am need of of help!!! Does anyone know of a doctor that treat severe chronic pain patient here in Newport News, Hampton, Va that prescribes narcotic that I have listed.
