Shaw, you need to contact your state Medicaid and find out which Pain Managment Drs in your area accept Medicaid. It is doubtful that you will be able to find another dr that will prescribe you Soma along with an opiate. There is no way anyone can tell you what a new dr will and won't prescribe. You wil also need a copy of your medical records from your previous dr. It is best to get an appointment with a new dr and go in and see them because you can't always depend on the info you get from over the phone.

SHAW:
Did you ask your previous pain clinic/doctor for a referral or recommendation to a new pain clinic? Most doctors will do just that upon request.

Shaw, Contrary to popular belief drs don't know who accepts Medicaid and who doesn't. even if they are Medicaid drs. That is why I said to call your state Medicaid program and ask for Pain Management Drs in your area that take Medicaid. Or you can just call all of the Pan Management Drs in your area and ask each of them if they accept Medicaid. There may or may not be another dr in your area that accepts Medicaid. Or if they do, they maybe accepting new patients a this time.

Forget the pain pills, pot will set you free of that pain and the need of meds.

farmer, you will need a copy of your medical records to show that pain management dr that there is a medical reason for you to be prescribed pain meds. If you don't have any diagnostic test results, they will want you to get the tests done. Depending on what the tests say, the pain dr will determine how bad the pain may be and then prescribe for you.

Shawn, I would think that medicaid would know or be able to direct you to the clinics or pain mgmnt. that accept medicaid! That's what they are for-to be helpful even tho they are a bunch of lazy asses! Also, ask for the Pharmacy Manager or someone you LIKE at the pharmacy you go to (check many pharmacies) and ask them what clinics take medicaid--I have gotten ALOT more INFO. from my pharmacy than anywhere because they want to make the $$$-pain pills or not! They make tons on all meds-check with them 1st!

Kay, if someone is on Medicaid they can call their Medicaid Health Plan to find out what pain managements drs accept Medicaid And their Medicaid Health Plan. The Health plans and state Medicaids also have a list of providers on their websites. But, the lists may also include those that take Medicaid/Medicare Only and not just Medicaid. So you have to call and ask if they accept Medicaid Only. Someone can also run into the same problem with asking pharmacists.

mike, are you seeing pain management dr or regular drs? Even though regular drs can write pain meds for chronic pain, most don't. especially for new patients. You need to see a pain management dr, although it is highly doubtful that you will find a pain management dr that will start you out on what you have been taking. It is also doubtful that you will find a pain management dr that will prescribe you 120 mg Oxycodone. The FDA has guidelines that say a patient shouldn't be prescribed more than 120 mg Morphine/120 mg Morphine Equivalent Daily and almost all drs are going by this now. You will have to work with a new dr and stick with them. You will also have to sign a pain contract and agree to random drug panels.
