Doctors Who Will Prescribe Pain Medication Montana

I live in Missoula, MT. I was at a pain clinic but got tired of the constant numbness I got from the MS contin I was prescribed, so I withdrew on my own. It was hell, I had been on them for 4 years. I somehow thought the pain would go away. It didn't. I have low back pain from two torn discs, stenosis, and a facet joint problem. My regular doc will give me meds from time to time when I wrench my back. But he is on sabattical and his partner will NOT even discuss my pain....I am so frustrated! Any suggestions on who I can see who may help me for the short term?

Generally, Morphine is a bad idea for that type of pain, it can actually cause some inflammation of the joints, which can make back pain worse, while taking it.

As to the doctor not prescribing anything, they are very strictly regulated now regarding what they can and cannot prescribe, how much they can prescribe and how long they can prescribe it. Thus, you'll need to see another pain management specialist. Is there another one nearby that you could ask them to refer you to?

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Wow you don't think they already know morphine is a narcotic and it is controlled and thus the question of what doctor might be sympathetic
while youre giving them that lecture did you hear how much pain this person is in and that the drug is legal and is used to help people just like this person with serious injuries.

I am moving from Washington state to montana. Missoula being the closest place for doctors. I am taking fentynal, oxycodone 15 mg for breakthrough. I heard the doctors are strict there. Is there any doctors that will continue what I am taking? I have been on this for years because of my back and neck. Thanks.

I realise this is an old thread and question but it may still be informative for whoever finds it. that said, I'm seeing the current trend most everywhere is NO new narcotic patients and no New narcotic scripts. a doc may still prescribe but only in the context of a surgery one might have had and only for short time.
maybe a week. what I've seen is with all the New policy is a lot of people just getting dropped from pain programs. there are some that travel from montana to a pill doctor in california. it seems reasonable to travel from missoula go Washington state for narcotics as there just aren't any options in this state anymore. montana has had a scandalous past with long term high dose narcotic prrscribers and patients.
