why is diluadid on backorder and when will it be available in columbus, ohio?

I'm sorry, the only thing I can guess as to why it is on backorder has to do with some recent changes made by the FDA. Some companies have been marketing unnapproved versions of these medications and they have made them remove them from the market until they undergo product quality and safety tests. This has affected many drugs on the market in the past few months.

There have been several posts about this one our site, as well as many others, even nurses in hospitals have mentioned getting notifications from their pharmacies regarding a shortage.

That said, I am sorry, I have no information for you on when it will be available again in ANY area.

Dilaudid is a very potent pain medication containing the active ingredient Hydromorphone.

Have you tried talking to your doctor about something you can use in the meantime, until this is available again?

My Mom is on 8 mg. Dilaudid 3 x a day. They want to now give her OxyContin 10 mg.(time-release) instead, with the Dilaudid for break through pain. Wouldn't she have to take a higher dose of OxyContin? Does anyone know how to compare the two different medications? My Mom has cancer.

Afetr having my stroke on May 10,2010 ..I'm still having excrutating headaches and the discharge physician did not send me home with any meds. whatsoever. In the hospital ithey try every dose of Lortab and to no-evail they tried morphine 1 mg doses first that didn't work so they up it to 2Mg..then I had an allergic reaction to the Morphine ..then they used Dilaudid that finally helped with the pain. Have to ever heard of a physician prescribing this medication for stroke victims b/c of headaches. When the headaches hit they come with no warning at all and last for 3-8 hrs. at a time and is soo very excrutiating..nist night my husband almost took me back to the emergency room!!!! Please help!!!!! The Neurologist i saw at the hospital said i could have these headaches for between 2-weeks and like a 1 yr sometimes maybe longer!!!!! after the stroke and that is here and still headaches are still as painful as they were in the hospital!!!

I need help. I have a condition(chronic) called RSD. I have not taken any medication for pain since the initial onset in 2000. I worked thru excruciating pain and bright red lobster claw like hands. I am a professional musician (legitimately known songwriter,pianist , guitarist and producer) I worked thru days that seemed like I would rather die than stay in pain.
I needed a cholecystectomy during which a bile duct was not tied off. I became septic and suffered Abscesses on my liver. Again, after IV meds in the hospital, I tolerated pain with accupunture and herbal remedies.
My liver enzymes were so out of whack that every time I had blood tests the drs. were convinced I had hepatitis or cirrossus. I do not drink at all. EVER.
In 2009 a very good friend passed away from a doctor kowtowing to his every whim just because of who he was.
My problem, however is I've been having the worst pain in my life which started with polycytic kineys, stones and thickening of my bladder. Hematuria and pain fom my back stabbing me as it travels along my side to my groin.
The Dr. told me I needed to take this pill called vidicon. I took the script, spoke to the pharmacist had it filled though he told me it was lots of acetominiphin and took it for about 3 days. The pain worsened but now it was under my
Ribs. When I touched it I a most fainted.
I went back to the Dr. Asking for different pillsc(the remainder in my hand) he said Tylenol couldn't cause my liver to be that swollen and asked if I was seeking more potent drugs.
I stormed out. Called the pharmacy, he told me to ask a dr for either fentanol patch or dilauded. He said it would stop the pain. I'm to afraid to ask for a specific drug. I'm in so much pain but can't take the original pills he gave because my enzymes got worse in the few times I took them.

8 mg of Dilaudid is the highest pill they make. The only way you will feel it is to {edited for safety} If you don't do it that way, you won't feel it at all. The best generic is Lannett!
