Given as painkiller after operation - after 4 days, began itching, discomfort, I refused to take any more, left off all pain medication in hospital. I need to know what it contains and what warnings of reactions/allergies there are.

Had been given fentanyl after Hysterectomy. Immediate reaction was severe rash and distressing, quite violent itching. Anaesthetist discontinued application. I am llergic to morphine for same reason - previous operation. What warnings and side effects other than mine are there?

Fentanyl is a very powerful narcotic, it should not be used for somene who is not already tolerant to narcotics. It is 80 times stronger than Morphine!

The most common side effects are similar to those of other narcotics, drowsiness, nausea, constipation, dry mouth and respiratory depression.

What you experienced, however, are not side effects, your symptoms resulted from an allergic reaction.
