Cymgen 30 Side Effects

Updated

Good day. I was put onto Cymgen (30mg) on the 19th of Sep 13' due to possible anxiety / panic attacks. (I'm a 34 years old, female). A few months ago I started breaking out in uncontrollable horrible smelling underarm sweats (the more I sweated, the more it would smell and the more self conscious I would feel and then I would sweat even more), I started having heart cramps and chest pains, limbs went numb, I had breathlessness (feeling of someone sitting on your chest) and irregular heart beats. The symptoms got worse very quickly. I got worried (possible stroke / heart attack) as I have no info on my parents medical history and I have an 8 year old daughter. I then went to see a GP. He did bloods and ECG's and all came out clean. No signs of pre-mature menopause or thyroid problems, etc. nothing. My heart is also healthy. I have a history of depression, but I know the symptoms and I have been taught to deal with it adequately. It does however sometimes become too much and I "break down". Not only am I the main bread winner, I also see to 90% of all household chores and the daughter's homework, activities, etc. I also work full day. After an attack, it takes me a few days to recover, but I continue with all day-to-day activities and chores. The attacks are few and my family normally don't even know when I have them, except if it is a severe one like described above. I have been on anti-depressants previously for the above and for experiencing bad head aches / migraines. (Tripiline 25mg 4 - 10 tablets a day for 2 years). I struggle with headaches / migraines and specialists were unable to find the cause of the problem. I went to a headache clinic (Dr. Shevel) and I also saw a neurologist. I had CT-scans, MRI-scans, physio, dental / jaw checks, brain waive analysis, LP's, you name it, I've had it. The headaches can be really severe and painful and nothing helps. I normally took between 8/10 and 16/24 pain tablets a day to cope with the pain. Through everything, I never stayed away from work or any activities my daughter / family might have. It "ruins" my health, but it doesn't rule my life. I taught myself to cut down on pain meds (no more than 4 per day) and some days I don't take any due to the damage it causes. Sometimes I am lucky enough to go 2-3 days without taking pain meds. Since being on Cymgen I have nothing less than the following side-effects: Blurred vision, sensitive hearing or complete hearing loss, can't sleep at night, tired and exhausted during the day (fall asleep at work or while driving), no energy, sensitive to light, weight gain, excessive thirst, dry mouth, skipped period, body spasms and jerking at night, ringing in my ears, muscle cramps, blue marks on the inside of my upper thighs (like when you bumped yourself) and a very bad vaginal thrush. I barely ever get thrush. I've probably had it 5 times in my entire life and for no longer than 3-4 days. I've now had it for 6 consecutive weeks. They say having your period helps, and last week I had my period (thank heavens) and it seems too have helped a little. I have been taking anti-acid powder (A. Vogel) and probi-flora intense to assist with the thrush for the last month. (Not helping). I am on birth control and I have also stopped taking it to see if my symptoms from Cymgen doesn't get better. The sweats got a little better and the smell got a little better after 3 weeks of taking Cymgen. However, 2 weeks ago, I started having heart palpitation and chest pains again, I have trouble breathing "properly", the dry mouth is back and I have muscle aces again. My left side is also going numb like before. The severe headaches also returned with a bang. The pain gets so bad that I am back on between 6 and 8 pain tablets a day and I have to take them in the middle of the night as well. The sweats also started again, but at first it happened at night when I was home. This went on for 3 days and the sweats started occurring during the day again and now it is back in all severity. Friday, 1 Nov 13' I decided to take Cymgen in the morning instead of at night to see if it would help. On Sunday I forgot to take the tablet. We went out on Saturday, we got back late and I slept in. By the time I remembered to take it, I realized I had no headache and I left it. I was in no mood for a headache. For the past 3 days I have decided not to take it and see what happens. On Monday and yesterday I still had a headache, but it was already better (only 2 pain meds on Monday and 4 yesterday). Because I don't sleep (I have slept 8 hours in total for the past 3 nights), the headaches automatically gets worse and more intense as my body start to "shut-down". I drink 2 - 3 liters of water a day, no questions asked, I don't smoke and I consume alcohol moderately. I cannot exercise when I have pain and if it isn't bad enough, exercising also causes headaches or it makes the ones I already have worse. I have no idea what I should do anymore. The sweats, the pain (head and chest), the thrush, is just to much for me, and it doesn't seem like anything is working. It is starting to get the better of me and nothing I do is making it better. I'm tired of being in pain all the time, I'm tired of not being able to talk to people because I smell bad. I'm tired of feeling depressed and no one seems to be able to help you or even understand what you are talking about. I have spent a fortune on medication and treatments during the past 17 years and I don't have anymore money to spend. I could've paid for a house cash with all the money I have spent. Please help, I'm desperate and I have nowhere else to go.

Hello, Riekie! How are you doing? I am so sorry about everything that you've been through.

Have you tried consulting a gynecologist?

The reason I'm asking is because perimenopause can start right around your age, but usually isn't detectable by a blood test, because there are only certain times of the month that your hormone levels will be shown to be off, so a test done at the wrong time will not detect the changes.

Have you had heavy periods? Do you regularly suffer from PMS?

I know you've had a lot of tests and tried a lot of medications, but if you haven't explored this avenue yet, please talk to a gynecologist to have them check things out. Hormonal imbalances can cause all types of crazy symptoms, as any women going through perimenopause or menopause can tell you…myself included! It's a very hard time of life to get through.

Hi. These was one of the first blood tests that was done and it was negative. I don't suffer from PMS and I don't have heavy periods. However, I am still stuck with the bad smelling sweat which I never ever suffered with. It's really messing up my life. I have still not gotten too any solution to the problem.
