Cymbalta Or Prozac?

Going back to Prozac after 10 mos. of cymbalta. Reason? Shortly after starting cymbalta I experienced increasing lack of energy and edema in my legs with weeping, sores and ulcerations. I continue to treat the edema under care. I take one dose of lasix each morning. This reduces some edema, not all. Weeping, sores, elastic compression hose are all a big part of my life. Scheduling activities to live a normal life is nearly impossible. The quality of my life is depressing. Is Prozac going to help or should I look to something else?

What condition is being treated?

Many people do successfully take Prozac to treat depression and anxiety. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight loss.

However, there is also a risk that it could cause edema and skin ulcers, as well.

Your answer very helpful. Incomplete info on my part is to emphasize this will be returning to Prozac as a med to which I had no such reaction in the past. Not to say it couldn't happen but I'm doubtful that it will. As I have eased of the Cymbalta I am more certain of it causing additional reactions like, brain zaps, extreme lethargy and tiredness, lack of appetite, sadness. Fluid retention was the biggie though!
