This medicine did about nothing to ease the pain I have from falling from a ladder. The doctor wanted to talk about the FDA and his restrictions?? Whatever --

Well, first you need to know that this is NOT a pain medication, so it will not work like a narcotic or other pain reliever does. This is a muscle relaxant, so it only helps with pain that is directly caused from muscles, such as strains, sprains, spasms, swelling and etc.

If your pain is caused by other factors, which I assume it is, since you fell of a ladder, then this will not help much. It only works on pain that is directly muscular related.

As to the FDA restrictions, well yes, it is possible that he may have some. They may have previously investigated and found him to be prescribing narcotics or other addictive drugs excessively or unnecessarily.

Then again, it is also possible that due to the FDA laws and regulations, he is just paranoid about prescribing these types of things and tries to avoid it at all costs. Naroctics prescriptions must all be recorded and accounted for, the FDA keeps a very close eye on them, so a doctor who is found to be remiss in prescribing them can pay large fines, get hit with prescribing restrictions, or even lost his license and/or face jail time.

Thus, many doctors just refuse to prescribed them, no matter how badly a patient may need them. Rather than taking the time to make sure they are only giving them to people who genuinely need them and monitor these patients to make sure abuse does not occur, they would rather just avoid the issue altogether.

I am very sorry that your doctor would not provide the help you needed and I would suggest that you consider switching doctors. If he will not provde the help you need now for the pain from this accident, I am sure you can imaging what you may face in the future if you have an even worse injury and are still seeing him.
