Concerta Drug Testing

My 11 year old son is taking Concerta. He started that one in '06. They started testing him and it is not showing up in his urine. He takes it each day. I am so worried about him. We have had a Social Worker with a State Cop. He has been tested 6 times, I have ask them to do blood work and they will not, I had to change DR.'s. He is to the point of crying and he tells them what he takes and how often it has gotten way out of hand I do not know what to do. Just a mom.

Concerta contains the active ingredient Methylphenidate, it is a stimulant, commonly used to treat ADHD and Narcolepsy.

Have you actually seen him take the medication?

Do you know what kind of test they are doing?

There are some types of tests it would not show up on, they would need to be specifically looking for this drug, it will not show up on standard screenings, such as those that may just test for narcotics.

Is he showing any of the side effects of the medication?

Such as nausea, irritability or insomnia?

I really wish I had more advice to give you, but the only thing I can think of, is perhaps, having your own test performed at an independent doctor?

Hi there , took him to the DR. he said they would order a test for the concerta. The other DR.'s were testing him for ever drug on the maket. Trust me he takes it each day if he misses a does wow! I do not even haft to tell him to take it. Now where there has been no trust with the DR.s he comes to me with it in his mouth. The damage they have done is unreal. Honestly if I had a good lawyer that would not be bought out I would lay it on them. This all started with the school ! HE IS ADHD! Iwill let you know when the test comes back. Many thanks.

I was in an accident 10 months ago, when I was discharge from the hospital they said I still have blood spots on my brain, but it will disapear with time. And so it has. Last year in December I was very depressed and I would always through things or hit my boyfriend he said that I was crazy. I would end up not trusting anyone and I would accuse people of doing things. I went for an MRI and a EEG scan two weeks ago and the scans showed that everything was normal in my brain, but where is this crazy behaviour coming from then.

I am having the same problem with my sons DR. He was taking it every morning and when they done a urine test they said it did not come up and they showed it to me and it was negative. Now they have kicked him out and I have to look for a new DR for him. I do not understand how it doesnt show up cause I give it to him every morning. HELP

I may have to do a urine dip test tomorrow. the drugs that the test is looking for is thc, cocaine, benzodiazepine's, opiates, oxycontin, and the last one just says amphetamine. yes the test specifically tests for oxycontin and the other just says opiate. anyway my question is will concerta show up on this test as a regular amphetamine? I ask because I take suboxone and buprinorphine does not show up as a opiate on this test because it has to be a test that tests specifically for suboxone so is it the same way for drugs like concerta and vyvanse or does concerta show positive on ANY kind of amphetamine test? any ideas would be greatly appreciated thank you!

My son is 14yrs old and has been on Concerts 36mg for a year! The Dr office we go to had change Dr etc and now this new lady his saying there is not enough of the concerts in his system. I personally give him the meds so I know he takes it! Before this new lady started there was two weeks before I seen her. He had enough to last for one week so he didn't have his meds for the other week. How long does the meds stay in a child's system he's 14and now 102 lbs. Help!!!
