I am also prescribed Suboxone (24mg/day) and Clonopin, and I have found it to work very well for my anxiety, although it is not as effective as Xanax or Valium. I am only taking it a short while, however, until a new long term medication kicks in, but I think that as long as your dr. is prescribing it and you are taking it as prescribed, you should be safe. If you are still worried, talk to your dr. about it. They wouldn't want to do anything to hurt you. Good luck! Jessie

I completed a 28 day rehab for alchol, opiates, and benzodiazepines a few months ago. The Suboxen works great for the opiate withdrawal, but you do NOT want to take it together with Klonopin (clonazepam). I did this and became violently ill, vomiting non-stop until the Klonapin wore off. I have been taking 2 mg of Klonapin 3 times a day for many years, and have also been on a steady diet of opiates for a number of years. Since I can't take the Lonapin, which has been prescribed for me, and the Suboxen, which has also been prescribed for me at the same time, I choose to take the Suboxen only. It seems to work better overall for all of my symptoms.

If it is clonidine then it is O.K. This is used with suboxone sometimes as an adjunctive therapy in opiate withdrawal. If it is klonopin or clonazepam then I would question the prescription because this drug should be used very cautiously, if at all, when taking suboxone. This is a case of two drugs that sound very alike, but are very different in their usage. Hope this helps. - Anthony

I am currently on 12mg of suboxone, 2mg of klonopin during the day, and 3/25mg of symbyax (combination of prozac and zyprexa) at bedtime. This trio is awesome. I used to be depressed and down all the time that's why I abused opiates. Now, I have graduated from college, and have a good paying job. My anxiety is at bay with the klonopin, and the suboxone seems to help manage the anxiety too. Remember, the last thing you want to take are stimulents (caffiene, amphetamines, etc..) if you prone to panic attacks. The symbyax helps me get a great night of sleep without feeling drowsy in the morning. I recommend klonopin and symbyax to anyone with bad anxiety, and I recommend suboxone for opiate w/d's. It's a life saver!!!

It is absolutely a safe combination to take. My addictionologist has me on 16/mg/Suboxone a day + 0.5/mg/Klonopin 3 x daily. It's a conjunctive therapy, and works WONDERS for my anxiety. I have also not wanted to use opiates in 2 years... it's amazing.

I had an x-ray three years ago which showed clear lungs. I was on Kolonipine at the time. Two years later I started taking suboxone instead of percs for back pain (least of all evils) Mu physician gave me another x-ray for my upper back - something showed up. I now have lymphnodes in my chest. i've seen 3 specialist who all know that I have been taking a low dose suboxone. They admit that they nothing of the drug (because it is a detox drug). An expert on suboxone immediately took me off benzos when she prescribed me suboxone four years ago and stressed how the two mixed causes respiratory problems. Now they found lymphnodes in my chest and are still not sure where they suddenly came from. I'm pretty sure I know. I'm off suboxone now and am hoping that the lymphnodes will dissipate. For all those of you who say you are fine get an x-ray. They are cheap and then you will know the real truth. If you feel good now it's because the suboxone masks any pain. If you have come this far, go a little further and find out for sure. Good Luck!

I see an Addictionologist/Psychiatrist every month and have been on 16mg Suboxone a day along with 4mg Klonopin a day. Both are spread out over the course of the day. I spent 3months at a place trying to get diagnosed and finally did and that is when I was put on 4mg of Klonopin and prior to leaving I was put on the Suboxone. So listen to your Doctor people. If you do as they say then you don't have to worry. Now on the other hand yes you can die from this combination but that is only from abuse aka not taking as directed! So if you want to get better than listen to your Doctor. Oh and I highly suggest having a PHD Therapist and a very good support system. That is if you are out of denial :) If you're like me you use a Doctor with many years in the field and also an addictionologist. I highly suggest that. Oh and most importantly I highly suggest PATIENCE!

I am also written suboxone and clonazepam (k-pins), 8mg sub and .5 k-pin. They don't seem to interract with eachother in small doses. I've read that if you do alot of both. (being opioids and benzos) your heart-rate can get too low and be serious. But I think you would have to take alot of each in the same day to have a problem. Other than that, you're good. If you're in suboxone treatment though, just make sure that only what you're prescribed shows up in your urine. Or you'll get kicked from your program and go into opiate withdrawal hell, or spend a fortune on the street. Good luck

Hey, this post is in response to the one made by WORRY. I don't know who your doctor is and i don't want to put them down when you feel they have been helping you, but what they are perscribing you CAN EASILY KILL YOU man! THE ONLY drugs you are not supposed to take with Suboxone are benzodiazepams (your Klonopin) and anti-depressants! And they have you taking a death cocktail, mixing all three at once! Dude I know people who take Suboxone and Klonopin but thats as far as I would take it, throwing in that anti-depressant might be the extra touch that will lead you to respiratory failure while you're asleep and die. I am happy for you that you are clean now and that is most important, but with the cocktail you're taking you might as well just get on Methadone or go back to taking Oxy or whatver your poison was, at least then you will only be on ONE drug. Its just VERY dangerous man, be careful. And if you dont believe me read the manual AND their official website - And believe it or not sometimes doctors really dont care about your health, only that they get their money and that you are happy with your perscriptions so you will come back. I had a doctor give me a methadone perscription just because I told him I needed it, no monitoring or anything. He asked me how much i wanted and i told him start me at 70mg, and he wrote it no problem no questions asked. Next month, how is the dose? Ah, doc it's not working i need a stronger dose, within four months I got up to 120mg a day, almost 400 pills a month and I was abusing the s*** out of them! He was a crooked doctor whowas awesome if you are just doctor shopping, but he had complete disregard for my actual wellbeing, he just gave me what I wanted instead and it took my family intervening in order for me to realize how far gone I was. Just be careful I would hate for something to happen to you because of a doctors irresponsibilty. Good luck with everything and may God be with you.
