Chantix Question

Updated

I am on day 13 of Chantix and have seen no results. Is this normal or should I consider that it is not working for me and give it up? I can't deal with the nausea if it is not going to work.

It may take 4 to 5 weeks for this medication to reach its full level of efficacy in the body.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as also including dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes.

Has there been any change? What has your doctor advised?

Go read the other forums about chantix here. I took it in 2011 and have permanent brain damage from it- no pleasure from smoking but also no pleasure from ANYTHING ELSE. complete anhedonia followed by suicidal thoughts and no Dr. Or medication has helped. Stop taking this asap! I quit taking it cold turkey after 2 months. Perhaps weaning off would have been better but who knows. I hope it has no effect on you like the many others. It just about ruined my life!

Lori,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I too experienced horrid night terrors and deep depression as a result.even if you weened off it wouldn't have made a difference as I asked my doc the same thing it would have had no relevance. I'm fortunate to have recovered with the assistance of short term ssri drug therapy. Here's the strangest thing I finally managed to quit smoking after the Zoloft side effects of nausea made the repulsive odor of tobacco unbearable. It's been 3 years plus. I wish you the best.

Thank you!! I wish SSRI treatment would have worked for me! I'm trying neurofeedback therapy now and may try hyperbaric oxygen therapy as well. We'll see how it goes! I'm so glad you did not have long term effects!!

I just started taking chantix. On Monday / day 1 - I took the morning pill. Tuesday / day 2 - I missed a morning dose cause I forgot my chantix at home when i went to visit my family. Wednesday / day 3 - I took the morning pill. Thursday / day 4 - I took the morning and evening dose. Friday / day 5 - I forgot to take the morning dose but took the evening dose. And day 6 - I took the morning dose at 8 but I missed 7:30. Can I still take the chantix cause I'm starting to eat?

Re: Nauna (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

I would stop taking it asap! If you happen to get side effects they are irreversible! I have brain damage proven by a brain scan from taking this in 2011. This medication messes with your brains reward center! That means nicotine, food, libido, joy in everything! It changed my personality and my entire life. I wish they would take it off the market.
