No, the new Oxycontin OP have been specially designed to help prevent such abuse of the medication.

Even if you try to crush, chew or dissolve them, they retain their time released properties.

They work the same as the originals and may still cause the same side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation.

Verwon, not trying to be rude but I am a daily oc 80 abuser and I have Ben buying the new ops and taking them. It smokes really crappy and taste like a generic but it still affects you. I guess they were aiming the abuse at the snorters and or crushers cheered extra.

I agree with Carson. I just got them today for the first time. Which is why I'm looking on the internet about it. I tried it today and it still got me right. It was terrible and I could barely take a big inhale like I normally do.

No No No do not smoke the new op's this is a very bad idea. The reason it burns so bad is because it has plastic in it. this plastic can and will cause lung cancer. I wish I was wrong, I really do but this is so true. Trust me guys just swallow them. The days of smoking and snorting oxy is over my friends. What a f---ed up world we live in :(

I smoked an OP 80, first time I've ever bought one. I hear they are going to start making all opiates tamper proof? Whats the point, the right pill head will and is going to find a way around it... What about the people that are prescribed these, and can't swallow a whole pill and needs to crush them up.. straight bull {edited for safety}

Honestly when purdue developed this pill they spent 24 million on it don't think they forgot that you can smoke it they are not idiots the plastic thing is true but sort of with direct flame several compounds will combine and create a near plastic/fiberglass compound which weans out through the smoke its a VERY BAD IDEA TO SMOKE OPS if you do you may feel said burn which is the reaction taking place in your lungs guys and gals honestly just get roxies opanas or old recipe ocs another company is coming out with the original recipe sometime in the next year they will have damn near the exact old recipe pills and cheaper too the formula has been sold to a small pharm company which produces mainly narcotic opiods they know their sh** and know that the only effective way to make money is to make the old recipe Be patient its gonna be fine i am in the same spot as yall cept im an amputee i know my sh** too so enjoy when the old comes back

Hello, my husband has a horrible disease called CIDP and he takes 160mg of oxy twice daily. He said the new ones take much longer to work and they cause him some severe stomach pains and constipation, which the OCs never did any of that. How did you hear about another company coming out with the old formula and do you know where they would be? We have no insurance We live in Vermont so our pharmacy options are very limited. So I hope you can direct me to the web site or article you heard about this. Greatly appreciated.

If your husband takes the lower dose roxies and take the 30 mg instant release several times a day it would deplete the stomach pains or if he gets a cannibus card since its Vermont. He will get rid of the pain for the constipation he should take senna laxatives

What amount of IR medication would come close to the ER 180/twice daily? He already takes 10mg IR oxy/4 times daily & 2mg dilauded/3 times daily so what we suggest to his doctor has to be realistic. Is roxy an extended release or instant? And is there any extended release med that would come close to what he takes now? He has tried fentanly patches, methadone, nerve blocks & facete injections, but the combo of the 160/2day extended release oxy & 10mg/4daily instant release oxy & 2mg/3day dilauded & 5mg/3daily Valium & 300mg/2daily lyrica & 50mg/1day amitryptalene seem to be the 1st combo that actually worked. Now Perdue had to mess with the first time he was feeling well enough to think about going back to work after 2 years. If it wasn't for the widespread and awful abuse of this drug, this wouldn't have been an issue in the first place! Unfortunatley VT laws are not as simple as they sound & a cannibus card is not available yet. Most patients have to sign a contract agreeing that they will not under any circumstance use any "street drug", or else they will be discharged as a patient and his doctor does not believe in cannabis as an alternative therapy, and even if he were able to get a card, that does not guarantee protection under VT law. So just wondering if roxicodone is IR or ER?

The roxies are IR and very effective but they can cause some stomach discomfort. if he switches the 160mgs over to roxies he will be much more comfortable overall though. Its something you should try because they're IR and still existant until the original recipe comes back

Insuffalating the time release is really bad for you honestly don't waste your time snorting ops just take 2 after carefully removing outer coating its still not IR but it will hit you hard other options that are better to snort; dilaudid , roxies, opanas ( be cautious opanas are stringers snortable pharmacy existant extreme amount of od potential I've lost many friends to it ), morphine IR, oxymorphone, etc etc there are many options which are more desirable and safer for you while taking you to nod land you also save yourself from pulling some nasty gel clumps out of your nose when it clogs up because you snorted time release like crazy if anyone has any questions about ops or any pill for that matter just reply

I am a chronic pain sufferer. My spine is falling apart over time as an indirect (or maybe direct) result of crunching it like an accordian in a car accident 18 years ago. I put myself through college and have worked full time for the past 7 years while on opiate pain mgmt. My doc suddenly left the clinic I am at, and I tried to kick. The pain was unbelievable and my mind went south. I took a month off work to kick. I ended up in a crazy situation and did cocaine ONE NIGHT. I got a UA from clinic. The new doc cut me off for breaking pain contract. No one will take me. I dont know what to do. I have some pills left, but when they run out I am afraid I am going to lose everything. I cant function without my meds. My career is at an all time high. I live in a rural area and have a GREAT (and high-profile) job in the community. If I lose it, I lose everything. I feel so hopeless, shamed and in dispair. Do you have any suggestions?
I also have MS Contin 30 mg ER. They just dont seem to do the trick. I have almost no energy and can barely stay well on them no matter how many I take. And at this point I am nursing them to last me as long as I can before I just curl up and die. Is there anything I can do with them to make them more effective?

My husband just filled his 80s & our pharmacy had more of the old OPs!! They just got some in, & put them aside for my boy as we have no INS & they r cheaper. So he got half OP & half OC. Thank GOD! They think they can get more again for his next script. They r using a new distributor that carries them, I thought they were history, hadn't seen them in 2 months, but they're back!! For now. Ppl might want to try Rite Aid if u have one near u, that's where we go. Hope this helps

The blues are oc 160mg, instead of green coating they are blue. 60s are red, 40s are light yellow and 20s are white because they don't have a coating.

Just ask a doctor? First of all that's a fallacy, second doctors are very highly educated people with little to no street smarts and they have very skewed ideas about the dangers of drug abuse, because of their lack of first hand experience and the perspective that they would habitually acquire over 8 years of being fed centuries old ivy league ideals. Anything you do to get high is going to have negative health effects. The truth is, as it is with anything new, the real consequences just won't show up for the first few decades. If you want to get high get high 20 or 30 years from now when your dying of cancer I'm sure you wont feel any remorse.

this is for all the bean heads. that smoke, shoot, snort or what ever you want to try. if it doesnt say oc 80 then its not worth your time. or in that case your money. the only way you will get oc 80s is if you find a stash or get in to police evidence lockers. so good luck with that my fellow friends.

Ppl call them Roxie's the most expensive one the (BLUE) 30 mg is the most expensive. Prices vary from anywhere from $10-$30 depending. Best to get it in bulk

How do you afford his medication with no insurance? And if you don't mind me asking, how much does that much OC cost. I have insurance and my little bottle of 20mgx2/dayx30days (after insurance pays out) costs $193 after a $70 credit from the manufacturer rebate card given to me by the doctor.

I miss the old formula.. I have a spinal cord injury that causes constant pain and just makes life suck sometimes. My doctor is absolutely unwilling to prescribe anything but methadone, morphine er or oxycontin. It used to be that when the pain was really bad I could at least smoke a pill but can't do that anymore. And you'd think that living in Seattle would make it easy to get s*** on the side for the bad days, but not so when u have to get around in a wheelchair, it doesn't make u very approachable or anyone else very accessable. Hard to network that way. Wish it was easier to find a new doctor that'd be open to trying different meds with me so I wouldn't feel like I have to look for s*** elsewhere when I'm having a bad day. And to those with the hateful comments, pls just keep them to yourself. You don't know what it's like to be in ur twenties and feel like u have the body of an eighty year old

Has your husbands doctors ever suggested infusion? I tried all the same things you listed and was concerned about tolerating (therefore going up and up on mg dosages of oral meds & crazy cocktails of meds). Then I tried lidocaine and ketamine infusions. I now do them every two months, have gone down on my oral meds by 80%, and have none of the annoying side effects that come with opiates. If you've never been offered infusions, please ask your docs. They saved me. GL!

Im sorry but I believe u r wrong bout a new company making the old type of ocs. Oxycontin(name brand co) filed a lawsuit claiming the generics werent made to standards. They lost & in the process Purdue was granted exclusive production of oxy. This means they r the only comp allowed to manufacture oxy. This is the only time 1 pharm comp has been given exclusive rights to a med. My pharmacist gave me this info & dateline covered it also. So I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a new brand of ocs. I wish it werent true but it is. Giving Purdue exclusive rights has let them corner the market, prices r higher than ever & patients r left without options! As with all meds, everyone is different & their bodies react differently to the varying brands. Now we r stuck with 1 option, regardless if it works right or not. I hope I'm wrong & u r right,,there should always b options!

They say there is plastic in that med. Im not sure if thats true,, but possibly may explain the stomache pain. And constipation is associated with most all pain meds. Yep sounds like the doc should try something new,,, possibly Dilaudid.
