Can I Take More Than 40mg Of Lisinopril

I take 40mg of lisinopril a day. My blood pressure spikes at night. Can I take another 20mg?

It really depends on when and why you are experiencing a spike, according to NIH prescribing standards.

What levels have the spikes reached? Has this been before or after dinner? Before, or after activity? There are many other factors at play, which may cause higher levels than usual.

For example, as a HBP patient myself, I can tell you that I learned via my cardiologist that it can be normal to experience spikes when I first wake up in the morning, or after a nap, it is nothing to worry about. You may also experience spikes after activity, such as a brisk walk, working out, or engaging in intercourse. Such instances are also normal.

It would be best not to increase your dosage, unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
