Any Hekp Suggestions To Weening Myself Off 80 Mg Oc's 2 Times A Day While On 30 Mg Of Oxcodone?

Yes I have been on oxycontin for 6 yrs to an ^ of 80 mg. 2 times a day but was just increased to 30 mg. Every 6 hrs. My dr. May send me to a pain dr. But I have been through pain management 3 times. This is of my own choice as I may be having liw back surgery and a knee replacement. Any suggestions about any withdrawals? My dr. Is an internalist, she prob. Figures she cant and she has worked with changing my med.s several times..

Suboxone is what many pain doctors use to get patients off of narcotics, they reduce the dosage slowly.

Suboxone is only intended to be used for hard core addiction treatment, not someone that has been just taking medications as prescribed. Once someone starts it, it can actually take several years to taper off of it.

In most cases, the doctor would have you slowly start tapering your current medication, by gradually lowering the dosage and stretching the time between when you take it.

Is there a chance she could refer you to someone else that may be more experienced with this issue?

Thank you I believe that she is referring me to one. I am just
scared bc she is just an internal dr.and thevpain clinics that I have been to...only 2 did nit deal with narcotics so they said.

Thanks for sharing this. I pray so. I see her on the 11th and I am goung to ask her that ? I really need pain medication due to a pkate in my wrist and a rod in my leg which they had to remove due to it being in my knee cap. I also have developed hunch back syndrome and I have gone from using a cane prn to a walker prn. Dds with bone spurs herniated low back discs and neck. ... but I do want to get off of the oxycontin bc of the strong addiction, and I have heard that subox. And methadone cab be almost as bad.
