The correct drug name is actually Amitriptyline, a generic for Elavil. It is a tricyclic antidepressant.
Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and headache.

my boyfriend has been taking this for a couple of weeks now nothing else about diet or anything has been different, hes normal healthy guy, but for no apparent reason got hot his knees hurt then he fainted... could this anatripolene cause this sideaffect?

It can cause muscle stiffness, which may have caused the problem with his knees. He should consult his doctor to rule out other possibilities, though.
