Don't flush. Dispose of properly to the appropriate authority. Flushing puts it in the sewer system either ending in the earth or purification system.

I have been abusing opiates for about 5 years now and I have to take 3 10 mgs to feel just a little of the effects of them. My best advice is don't start because it isn't easy to quit. I'm 20 years old with a 5 year old son. I've tried quoting and when I start doing good I just fall right back in.

Hun, these pills (hydrocodone). Are extremely addicting. ONE pill here and there CAN turn into 4, 5 even 10 or more pills a day. Depending on the person and personality, addicton is very easy. If your teenager is taking these, they are not going to want you to find out and wont be leaving pills around for you find. I hope this helps..*

And please don't flush medications down the toilet. It just adds more nastiness to the water environment. The safest thing to do is turn found or unused pills to a pharmacy to be disposed of properly. Second, if a teen is telling you they found a pill, investigate. It most likely theirs and they may be developing a serious problem.

I went through a prob with my teenager using something she said was "k". That's the scary stuff. And crack, opioids, molly, methamphetamine. Etc. I was hit by a car once, and was given these 7.5 pills n one day I took my full dose an somehow got confused thinking I hadn't. I took another full dose which was 2 pills. After I swallowed them I remembered I already took 2. Panic ensued and I called poison control and explained my situation. The officer said wait are we talking about a half a bottle or just 4 pills. and I said not I have a bottle I just took 2 pills too many. He said I was overreacting. I asked my dr and he said FDA requires any at home postscript strength to be WELL BELOW the OD amount to prevent accidental ODs. Alcohol is more dangerous than hydrocodone. To get addicted to it they've got to have such a consistent uninterrupted supply to build a chemical dependency. It sounds like you are finding a couple of pills means they are helping someone sell OR they are just dabbling in recreational use possibly mixing with alcohol (which is something to worry about since alcohol alone is addictive and potentially dangerous all by itself).

And if you yourself have never experienced this dreadful illness and gone through the unthinkable that comes with it, you probably shouldn't judge anyone.

Do not flush any medications! This is the old method of disposal. Try to grind them up with old coffee grounds or something similar and discard in the trash. Too much of the medication is staying in our streams & lakes with almost no way to treat the water in a filtration plant. Only approximately 10% of all medications can successfully be removed.

As a mother myself find out what it is, prove to the child you have found them out ,then flush, if she found in kids room she doesn't have the addiction problem and is being a good responsible mother for identifying the drug found in her child's possession.

please know the difference between narcotic dependent and addicted. The end result is a physical withdrawal without them but some of us are chronic pain patients due to cancer and other issues. Being physically dependent on them for legitimate unbearable pain vs taking them for the high are TWO DIFFERANT things ! Some people act like they are the same & treat you like a druggie.
