Xanax Do You Get The Same Feeling From The Mylan A1 Pill?

The brand name Xanax provides a good amount of relief, the Mylan doesn't - whats different about them?

Mylan A1 is noted to be Alprazolam (1mg). Was your Xanax the same or stronger dosage?

Alprazolam is the generic brand, so I'm thinking that the difference would be found in the inactive ingredients of each of these pills. The inactive ingredients in Mylan A1 are:

- silicon dioxide
- croscarmellose sodium
- docusate sodium
- lactose monohydrate
- magnesium stearate
- microcrystalline cellulose
- sodium benzoate
- sodium lauryl sulfate
- FD&C Blue No. 2

Variations in inactive ingredients can determine how the drug is metabolized, how much is absorbed, how your body reacts to it, and so forth. Given that information, it's best to just stick to what you think works best for you. Unfortunately, the only way to find this out is to try it as you did.

Hopefully you're able to keep getting the other brand of Xanax again from your doctor...just be cautious as this drug can be pretty addicting if the dose isn't controlled.

Hi, thanks for the info, the xanax are the blue footballs, I know they cost more, but I feel they are more effective. are the dose's the same, from the football to the A1 ?

Hi Rick,

I just checked and found that the blue football shaped Xanax tablet is the same dosage as Mylan A1. Both are 1mg. There is however a difference of inactive ingredients in the blue football shaped pill, which you can see listed below:

- cellulose powdered
- corn starch
- docusate sodium
- lactose
- magnesium stearate
- silicon dioxide
- sodium benzoate
- FD&C Blue No. 2

Comparing this to Mylan A1 in my last post, there are less inactive ingredients as well as some different ones that could effect the absorption or bioavailability of the pill itself.

MYLAN A1 IS SUPPOSED TO BE 1MG EQUIVALENT TO 1MG XANAX, BUT ITS NOT. THE FILLERS THEY USE CUT DOWN ON EFFECTIVENESS AND IF YOU TRY TO ABUSE THEM I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU AS THESE PILLS HAVE SILICON DIOXIDE="GLASS" AND MICROCRYSTALINE CELLULOSE (MORE GLASS). JUST FYI

Any type of controlled substance can get you "high" as well as xanax a1. They can be used and abused that's why you can't just go to your local drug store and purchace them right off the shelf.

No. You will test positive for benzos from these for 2-15 days, depending on how long you've taken them and your personal body chemistry. I was prescribed three 0.5 Xanax per day for three months and tested positive for 11 days. They were generics.

xanax and it's generics are benzo's and unless they test for benzo's...no....but obviously you are on probation for a reason. I use this medication for the reason they make it....I don't abuse it and it's probably a good telltale sign that you may need some help....it's people that take it to get high that make it tough for the people that need it....to get it.

Yeah so no your limit people and don't play around, you will take one to many one day..... Take a nap and not wake up. I've had three people I went to school with and died much to young because they liked the feeling it gave and there body got a tolerance to it and like any or most drugs they had to take more and more to feel the same effect. There to reduce your anxiety or help sleep ect ect... Not for recreational use!!! You get one chance at life in this world....the only path in life is the right path, choose yours wisely.

Thank u for that comment EZ and same goes for ppl like me who's hips are uneven, i have a protruged disk lumbar 5 disk pushing on sciatic nerve with arthritis that's set in it. And its hard to get pain meds as well due to abusers. Makes me furious.

Silicone dioxide is not glass, I repeat not glass. I'm a chemist and silicone dioxide is mainly used as an absorbant to prevent moisture from getting to products such as leather, dry goods, ect. It's even in food product that are EPA AND USDA approved. When I see stuff like this it reminds me of a jailhouse lawyer that's knows all the answers but can't make a $500 bond. Get a life!!!?

Your statement is a fallacy of logic. You said (about a1 alprazlam) "they can be used and abused just like any other controlled substance that's why you can't just walk into the pharmacy and get them." ok there are so many things wrong with that statement I do not even know where to begin addressing them. Wow it seems that most controlled substances "make you feel high" that is not the reason they are controlled that is false information and I'm not even going to go into the different reasons why pharmaceutical companies and the government work together. As to you saying that it can be used and abused and that's why it's controlled... Well the deadliest intoxicant known to man, which is ALCOHOL, has killed more people, THAN EVERY CONTROLLED PHARMACEUTICAL, COCAINE, AND HEROIN COMBINED.

I've been on 1mg klonopin for years for my anxiety disorder and I just got changed to 1mg mylan xanax due to my son getting diagnosed with cancer so I nervous about a new pill...opinions on how different from klonopin. .

Every body bodies are different and react differently, me personal colonipin (sp?) Didn't make a change in my anxiety at all, my valium used to just make me go to sleep, but xanax helps my anxiety and keeps me concentrated, helps me eat, calms me down, but if I do sit down to long I crash, but other ppl I know get no help from xanax and prefer kolonopin(sp?) So it really depends on your body type and how it reacts to you, best thing you can do its try a little at a time cut them in half and build your way up cuz you don't know if your body if gonna mgo either way to where they'd be stronger on you or weaker

I've noticed that clonazepam is one of the stronger benzodiazepines along with xanax. It makes me a little sleepier than xanax, but helps my anxiety all the same.

"Blue footballs" are alprazolam, same as mylan A1. Which are all generic for Xanax and all work the exact same. And they don't prescribe blue football's as blue footballs... FYI the only true Xanax prescriptions they have anymore are the 2mg Xanax "bars" that say Xanax. Everything else is generic alprazolam which IS XANAX!

I have a blue round pill with mylan A1 on one side and a straight line across the other side. I thought they were going to be effective until they dissolved quickly when I put them in my mouth. Does that mean they aren't a good brand?

Rite-Aid will fill your Alprazolam prescription with Mylan A1. I had to wonder if it wasn't a placebo....Very little relief relative to Xanax.

I have known 3 people personally that overdosed. Please be careful, all 3 were taking Xanax (or a generic form of it.) However all had opiates involved as well. Xanax can be great when not abused but please think before mixing them with any other meds.

Abuse potential is exactly why controls are controlled. Prescription drug deaths are a national epidemic. Every statement you made is dumbfounding. There most certainly is a reason you can't just walk into a drug store and purchase xanax whereas you can just walk in a purchase aspirin.
