Withdrawal From Vyvanse Experience (Page 7)

Updated

I have been on Vyvanse for 4 weeks and I am now tapering off. I was going to quit cold turkey , but I wke up this morning and felt like I'd been hit by a truck. It's been a few hours and I still feel like I have a mild case of the flu. Anyway, I started 4 weeks ago and the first 3 days I never felt better in my life. I 'd never been so productive, focused, and organized! By day 7 , I was back to my normal under- acheiving, scrammbled , self. Then my Dr. raised my dose from 30 mg to 50. Well this threw me into severe anxiety. I have been chewing my nails till they bleed. I can't seem to stop. I have a feeling of being completely overwhelmed, my house is trashed and it's driving me nuts, but I have no energy or drive to get up and clean it.....Can anyone else out there relate to this?

You are seriously being over-medicated. 70mg and 105 lbs?

Hi! I just switched TO Vyvanse approx 9 months ago it's done GREAT for me however if it isn't working for u, u can always ask ur doctor if they would switch u to time released dextromethphetamine that is all Vyvanse is except Vyvanse is coated in an amino acid making it hard to abuse (ONLY way to abuse it is eating too many. u cannot IV, or insufflate it and feel hi because it ONLY works when digested And the amino acid is stripped away from the dextromethphetamine in your system otherwise it will NOT cross the blood brain barrier. Also because of this, it Is MUCH longer acting than regular time released dextromethphetamine (the most common generic ones come in capsules with the waxy beads inside), those usually are recommended between 2-4 times daily depending on ur dosage while vyvanse is usually 1 time daily, sometimes 2 depending on the person because of the above explained digestive reasons makin it longer acting. Hope that helps maybe your doctor would switch u? Not sure. Good luck! :)

Hey guys. Vyvanse has definitely been a game changer for me. I have been taking thisfor seveseveral years now. The effects have been nothing but positive. When I'm on it. I'm on point. Now right now I just have taken my first dose. After being out of it for a couple months maybe 3. And it's cause of money problems. I experienced a decline in production at work more. Which has not been good. I have a disorder and it's ADD. I hate it. It has some screwed me out of so many chances and opportunities to enhance my life. A lot of people from colleagues friends and family said I was lazy which hurts. I am slow sure. And I also have CP. Anyway I'm not lazy. Just with this wonderful drug and my continued support(cheer leading section)my wonderful family & my doctor Deb Stultz who has become my friend. This drug has been a blessing from God. I know you are thinking here is another superspiritualist who lost his mind. No I'm just keeping it real. But getting back to the point. I have been out for 3 months. Other than getting less productive at work nothing has changed for me except the fact my wife and I have become more intimate. So hope this helps someone or sheds light somewhere thank you & God bless you.

I ran out of vynase and was off for seven days. Dizziness from vertical to upright was awful and at other times. Also more depressed. Refill and day 2 the brain tumor that was causing the dizziness I think was just withdrawal! THANK you GOD! Love the clear thinking this drug gives even at 58!

I didn't take my vyvanse for 2 days, yesterday, and the day before. I had one of the worst days yesterday.. Extreme exaugsten, body aches, terrible crying episode, no motivation. I was so useless and felt so sick yesterday, that I decided to take another vyvanse today.( threw up when I woke up) My advice is definitely not to quit cold turkey. Still don't feel close to good.

everyone reacts differently. it is not a fair statement to say they are overeacting. it is a class II narcotic. it is METH. educate yourself before you say horrible things about others

Believe me it is not the same for all...I have a daughter that hears voices and sees things that are not there. This is the horrible drug.

It sounds like you're going through amphetamine withdrawal, I went through that also, its going to really suck going off Vyvanse, you'll be paying the price for your use for a good amount of time depending on how long and at what dosage you were using. I was taking for about a year daily 40mg, and I created a real dependancy, withdrawal symptoms the worst being depression, and anxiety that comes with it. Things got better at around the 4-5 month mark for me. Tough through the withdrawal and things will get better for you! Good luck losing the dependancy. Cheers

I have fought this battle for 10 years. On and off meds for ADD . After finally realizing it's a never ending cycle I decided to get off and get my life back. The first two weeks is a struggle I am taking a multi vitamin from advocare called coreplex and also drinking two of the vitamin energy supplement drink called spark by advocare. It's helped me . I refuse to be medicated, I had tried Wellbutrin adderall adderall xr, vyvanse, Effexor, they put me on antidepressants and mood stabilizers for bi polar which was ridiculous. I finally had enough of it that cycle of being on it and off it trying this one and that one maybe it was this maybe it was that ..... Never ending !!! I choose to end that cycle . I hope anyone who is starting out on this to really consider why why are you on it ??? Don't let it fool you it's like a magic cure AT FIRST that won't last long I promise you. I hope everyone the best !

What dose do you take? I am up to 50 mg and I feel like it doesn't help at all.

It's because you were upped from 30mg to 50, not 40 & then each week upped to your therapeutic dose. It was to quick so I don't advise taping off, I advise looking into getting a psychiatric if it's a prescriber but for the time being with this doctor have then put you on 40 mgs. hopefully that's what they dis, not put you from 50 to 30 after putting you quickly up,then to quickly down. If that's the case I suggest taking Artic cod liver oil from Nordic Naturals; ALWAYS take non heated omega threes or its a waisted of time and money. Also, I will have to add all the other things to protect your brain from the damage and fix the damage when I can think better. I really have to go to bed to help myself, but I had to try to help because my heart went out to you 4 what your going through. The best Advise I can give you to do now is try your best to stay hydrated, eat as much fish as possible, get AT LEAST 8 hrs sleep, make yourself exercise vigorously as much as possible and Look up D.B.T skills and learn distress tolerance skills and self soothing things. try not to STRESS. be positive and try really hard to not watch tv, walk back wards safely. sorry it's not organized direction s and explained in prospective of how I wanted to say it. But that's what I'm trying to do and I'm thankfully to God that I found Smoke Deter and received it a day before I couldn't get my 70 mg script refilled. because of my doctors mistake and maybe because I lost the one they said he printed out, but I don't think he did. I explain later, I just didn't want anyone to make assumptions. Anyways its a natural herbal spray I purchased on the internet and it helps with withdrawal symptoms and the herbal 2 ingredients, Black spruce and Tabacum helps with withdrawal symptoms and anxiety. I highly recommend it if your still having withdrawal symptoms. I will pray for you to get all the help and wisdom you need.

Seriously you guys are overreacting and building it up making it way way worse in your head. I've been on vyvanse 70mg for 4 years and feel basically no withdrawal effects whatsoever just like I'm not on vyvanse. I am blown away that you guys act so childish just cause you can't get vyvanse for a couple days

Hey, fellow Joey. Back in the day, we did not believe there was a physical addiction associated with amphetamine use or abuse. We were wrong, I don't think there are any laws prohibiting a prescriber for tapering the dose,. But there are a helluva lot of ignorant doctors who haven't done anything but write and sell scripts since 1969! If you can tough it out, I can assure you there is no risk of seizure (unless you're an epileptic). One of my adult patients said, "I just feel like s***, doc, but I think I can tough it out." I usually prescribe a small dose 1-2mg QD of Klonopin for the anxiety that accompanies amphetamine withdrawal.

And NO doc in the hospitals discontinued this extra-amphetamine in disguise? I can't believe any Psych Resident (let alone an attending) could be so damn stupid!

As a psychiatrist with a PhD in Pharmacology, I agree. That post — #90, way back, but if I have that advice I could close my license to practice — it's incredibly irresponsible and it was posted by a CHILD. Where did she get her MD?

Adderall, I know what you mean by withdrawal from other medications sucking. I am tapering off of my pain medication currently. I was just switched from adderall to vyvanse today only because of its supposed efficiency. I was fine on the adderall aside from crashing when it was time for my next dose. I never had any side effects (insomnia if I take too much) or withdrawal symptoms. It's worth looking into. I however, am now extremely afraid of taking this medication.

Electro-Convulsive Therapy. Should be easy enough to find. It's helpful and horrifying, like a living oxymoron!

Get, that what "they" said about Doriden, Placidyl, Demerol, Dilaudid, Methedrine and other deadly drugs.
