Why Am I Withdrawing More Off The Zubsolv Than I Did Off Heroin?

Updated

... My doctor seems to not believe I withdraw without the medicine. I'm several months into my recovery, being an addict of 4 years and finally getting help when I went to the doctor I was using 2-3 grams of heroin a day. I was recently switched from the suboxone strips to a pill called Zubsolv witch works very well. I have notices that my pharmacy will make me wait 18 days to fill my scrip when it is supposed to be filled every 14... the 4 days I have to wait on my prescription I withdraw worse than I ever did on Heroin and never withdrew on the strips. When I mentioned this to my doctor he looked at me like I was lying to him. Does Zubsolv have a huge dependency factor to it. I'm honestly afraid to start tapering off of it.

If you have a long history of opiod use, (including the synthetics) then;

You can have a full blown wd from any almost any amount of any opiod - natural or synthetic.

There are a lot of dr.s that don't know this, heck there are even a lot of users that don't know this.
And, I can't yet prove it to you, or offer a source of information. All I know is that t can and does happen. I had one of these my self recently, I had a wd that was totally out of proportion to the amount of opiods ingested it was triggered by taking 30mg.s of hydrocodone. I had been clean for months and I was amazed that 3 lortabs could give me a full blown wd afterwards. I am not the only one either, I have been hearing accounts like this now for several years. I just hadn't had my own case till recently. I don't think the body is holding something that gets released, I suspect that it is a brainchemistry imbalance (or it is lacking something - seretonin maybe?) And the prescence of new opiods causes some type of breakdown or cascade... But that is just me speculating. I don't know how it happens, I just know that it does.

Hi, I started out taking out suboxone, 8 mg a day for my herion addition. My doctor then switched me to Zubsolv, which I have been on for about 3 months now. When talking to him last week he asked me how I feel if I don't take them at the same time. I told him if there is a couple hour lapse in between that I get anxiety and sometimes feel like I am having like heat flashes. I asked him if this was normal or if it was just in my head. He told me it is completely normal to sometimes feel withdrawing symptoms if you do not take them at the same time everyday.

Please believe that this medicine is a bad thing. Ive been on for about 14 months and I'm still taking them because I'm afraid of the withdrawals. Really scared. I wish they would've kept me on the methadone but I think docs are getting paid a lot of money to turn us into lab rats. I am going to get through the holidays and then start to detox myself. If I can't I'm going back to methadone. I can't do this anymore. I can't remember many things on a daily basis. I'm scared I'll have to check into rehab to DT. Do whatever you can to get off this medicine. I think its destined to go wrong at some point and I don't want to be a casualty of it. I don't trust it anymore. Good luck.

Hi I came across your post and I have to ask. I am taking 2-3 grams of heroin a day, but I have only been addicted for a year, before I was taking 30-40 pills a day. I know it's hard to believe but this went on for almost 5 yrs. I did stop for almost 7 months thanks to Zubsolv but then I relapsed. Now I am SO ready to stop again but I tried taking Zubsolv again to get off the opioids. I waited somewhere around 12 hrs and took one Zubsolv and I went into full blown withdraw immediately. It worked great for coming off pills but for some reason it's NOT working for heroin. I am desperate! Has anyone else had this happen and if so how did it work out or did it. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!!

Hello,

I'm Baltimore, MD, and I feel terrible. I'm on day 5 without the Zubvsolve 12/8 mg., 2-3 daily for 5 years. I've been informed that it has to be replaced by a therapeutic program or a Spiritual program. There's work to become Drug Free. Freedom ain't free. There's a Price for using/putting drugs into our bodies. Currently, I'm contemplating going to the ER. I feel the funny feeling in my legs, diarrhea, sleeping less, no appetite, irritated, angry,. I learned that I'm emotionally exhausted. It's true.

Yes, I've been on them all. They're highly addictive. They weren't meant for an addict to come off, quote Dr. Accurso, John's Hopkins Bayview, May 2016. Nevertheless, I began to taper myself, pray, go to NA Meeting. You have to replace with a something greater than yourself. My teeth are all broken. The new/old doctor did not assist me with coming off nor encouraged it. For the doctors involved it's $$$$$$_. Not your Health.

What do you call the person who graduated at the bottom of his medical school? Doctor!

I am l sorry that you had to experience precipitated withdrawals but it seems like you have. Precipitated withdrawals are much worse than being rescued by Narcan. Have you thanked the people who saved your life with Narcan? I bet you went right back out and relapsed again.

I wonder why people think the myriad preparations of buprenorphine/naloxone are different? By any name, these reagents act the same. Placebo effect comes into play. All contain buprenorphine.

Buprenorphine is one helluva drug. Withdrawals do not come from the naloxone mixed into Suboxone (any way you name it.) The naloxone only comes into play if one administers these drugs intravenously. Don't do it. It's like being rescued by Narcan if you have a habit. Immediate miserable withdrawal symptoms.

Buprenorphine has a very high affinity for the mu receptor sites in the brain. This is where heroin and the rest go to make you feel euphoria. Or stop your breathing and kill you. Buprenorphine has low activity. This means that it WILL replace any drug like heroin, morphine, oxy, etc. and holds on for days, meanwhile doing much less than the stronger opioids. Buprenorphine seizes the receptor sites but kinda sits there and doesn't do as much.

Lastly, if one is on methadone maintenance, or chronically on any strong opiate, he-she should NEVER take Suboxone. Then, you are in for a miserable 72 hours until the buprenorphine begins to wear off. These are not casual drugs. Don't play doctor on yourself or believe your ignorant friends. Learn this stuff if it is your life. Stay alive and safe.
