I agree, I think ur daughter is either using H or oxy or any other harder drug and using the Subutex as a way to comedwn. I have many friends that do the same thing including myself a while back! At low doeses it will keep her from getting DOPE SICK which every addict dreads! everything is horrible while tryin to kick any class A narcotic but the S-tex helps a lot! Confront her and have a heart to heart, dont just take her gear since this could cause her to lash out and even become angry, violent, or even suicidal! Trust me, there was a time in my life where my dad took and tossed my oxys dwn the toilet and I ended up knocking him out! be carfull and confront w/ love not anger since she has prob. been using for quite some time weather it be pot or H, or OXY? it doesn't matter, sit dwn and talk about it b4 we all make assumtions! Good luck and God bless, Sincerely, CAB-

Hey Bill, I recently started treatment with Subutex, the 54 411 pills. You can take these cloe to opiates with no worry of withdrawal kicking in, since these pills have no Naloxone in them. I had used H the morning of my first appointment and later on in the day took my first pill, with no problems at all.

lynn, the answer to your 2nd question, being, "why do people take it that dont need it", is very simple, yet you'll notice that none of the posters so far have taken pains to address the most important of your two questions. Your 1st question, being, "can you shoot this up", is important too, but not as important as your 2nd question. As I've already said, the answer to your 2nd question is so simple that it's a veritable no-brainer, and here it is in 1:

"We buy things we don't need, with money we don't have, to impre$$ those we don't even like!"

You've not said what you did with the suboxone and needle that you found in your daughter's room. One consolation is that if you found some suboxone plus a needle then it hadn't actually been consumed and maybe, just maybe, your daughter has decided not to actually take it.

Sorry for replying to an old post but I hate false info online. Branch is wrong bupe it self is an opiate blocker in the right dose. The naloxone in Suboxone is inactive because its such a small amount, it is only there to stop people from shooting it because when IVed the naloxone will make you sick if your an addict it will give you precipitated WD, sometimes when snorted it will also make you sick. The only active opiate blocker in suboxone is bupe which is the active drug in both suboxone and subutex.

Also Naloxone isn't normally used to bring people back from an OD, Naloxone used in a high enough amount to block opiates will make someone dependant on opiates extremely sick

I had a really bad opiate problem for about 5 years & started taking suboxone. I have done pretty much every type of opiate & then suboxone later that day or early the next. As long as you wait until after you've slept, you're all good. I have done tabs then subs that way, h then subs, oxy then subs & it's all the same. I have really bad withdrawal symptoms when I don't have anything, but not ever after getting back on subs after a bender.

Dee, stop trolling. There's a back button on your web browser for a reason. If you don't like what's being talked about then just use the ole back button up there in the corner. And to address your statement, many of us started out with our addiction by taking prescribed pills for our own pain, but after months or even years of being on those meds an addiction takes hold. They're not going to stop making or prescribing these pills, but they've already started making them not as easy to obtain. Some of these meds, like oxycontin, are even being made differently now so that they can't be crushed and snorted/injected. There are fillers added to some pills that almost act like a wax so they can't be crushed into a powder and they thicken up like jelly when you add water to them. But seriously, don't post a comment unless you have something constructive to add. I don't think you're a jerk or anything, I just think you're judging people on a subject that you really don't know anything about.

Phil, are you sure that you were taking the prescribed pills for your own pain as you've stated and not someone else's pain? It's just that your candour leaves me thinking that some folk might think that altruism extends to helping someone else out who says that they're in pain but doesn't want to address it by actually taking any drugs from the start, in case they get hooked, so they then search for a surrogate who's already on the stuff and knows how to take them like an expert. There's a lot of wisdom in that old saying that goes: "Why have a dog and bark yourself?" Another good one goes like this: "A slice off a cut loaf is never missed!"

Before Rudolph Diesel started using diesel oil to run his high compression engines he used to crush coal into a very fine powder and let his engines snort that but it was too abrasive and soon caused much damage to the insides of his machines. Much the same happens to a human's insides when they snort or inject j_ab'rasive powders. Foils ain't oils Sol!

Since you're such a fan of throwing out quotes, how about "Thou shalt not judge." That was my only point. If people don't like what they read in this thread then they can leave. The Internet is a very big place! I don't see any reason why anyone needs to come here and spout off about things of which they have no real knowledge. I'm not condoning drug use and so far I haven't noticed anyone else glorifying it either, but I've been there myself in the past and all I try to do is offer some sort of level-headed, honest advice to people who seek it. There are people who really do want to get clean and they have real, honest questions. It's not my place, or anyone else's, to judge them. I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone else: If you haven't been there then you have no clue. My mother has dealt with chronic pain for just about 20 years now. If she goes off her meds right now she'd go into horrible withdrawals, not to mention the pain she would be in just from her condition. Does that make her a junkie? Does that make her a bad person? That's what I was trying to get at when I brought up the part about how a lot of people get into illicit drug use after being on their own LEGAL meds for an extended period of time. This thread started out with a simple question from a concerned parent (you probably haven't even read it); it has since evolved into a wider discussion. But when people come here and go off topic just to offer their own unsolicited opinions, I find it childish and asinine. That's all I was saying. You were obviously looking up something related to this subject if you ended up here. You obviously clicked on a link that brought you to this thread, so that fact alone suggests that people who leave such comments came here simply to stir something up. Once again, childish. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I just don't understand navigating to a well-marked link just to stir up an argument about a subject in which one has no real vested interest. That's what aggravated me about that previous comment to which I replied.

I've been reading this entire thread after searching online for things that are relevant to what I'm currently going through. I'm a 29 year old single mother and a opiate addict. I couldn't find my drug of choice this evening which is blues, so my boyfriend had acquired, (from his best friend), some subutex. I decided to shoot it because Im also addicted the actual act of shooting. Well needless to say it was fine because like the true addict I am, I know how to shoot myself correctly. {edited for public safety reasons}. It actually hit me pretty fast. I didn't feel much so I did another half and that was my mistake. I didn't get withdrawals but rather it felt like I did way too much but I didn't receive the full effect until about 20 minutes later. I should have just did 1/4 to begin with because it made me extremely dizzy and I threw up. I lasted down and fell right to sleep. I felt so much better even though I took too much. It's better than felling like my legs won't stop aching and getting hot and cold swears and running to the bathroom every ten minutes. I know that what I go through is my battle everyday and one that I will battle for the rest of my life and I'm not trying to glam it up and make it cool because it sucks. All I know is that if this addict can help by giving even the slightest information that may make it so that someone will have a better understanding of something I will. What I do is dangerous and I own that but ill admit that I come and read this forums for info myself and it has saved me many nights from thinking that I'm all alone and scared. Please don't start shooting if you never have it's a crappy road to start on and if you choose to please be safe and somewhat responsible by not sharing needles. That's one thing I've NEVER done.

P.s. thank you to all those who have shared some insight on your struggles. Remember, you're never alone. One day you can be free from this hell you just have to make the first step and I think today's mine.

BS... the naloxone is inactive for two reasons and neither is that "its a small smount" because in fact its a dose four to five times the adult dose which IS routinely used in OD cases either IM or more preferrably IV... Now the real reason it's ineffective in suboxone is that its not readily absorbed sublingually as buprenorphine is... and any ingested through your stomach affects receptors in your colon but the halflife is so very short thst by the time it gets through first pass it is almost processed out of you system and doesn't have the chance to do anything to the receptors in your brain.

From my own experience i have taken suboxone the very same night as i have oxycodone, havent tried with with opiates such as lortab but taking a suboxone about 8hrs after taking percs or 30's, i did NOT get sick at all.. I can only assume the same goes for subutex, which is almost the same as suboxone except it doesnt contain naloxone which is a blocker to help prevent abusing it such as shooting it up. (note* suboxone has the blocker.,, subutex does NOT) One thing i do know, you do NOT want to take suboxone after or any time near taking methadone.. Talk about a scary time

I took a subutex the generic ones my friend told me to snort it...it was the worst 4 hours of my life. I never went through a withdrawl like that I was freezing, sweating, pukein and had the worst cramps. Is it because I snorted it instead of putting under my tounge?

As an opiate user for ten years I have learned to deal withdrawal many different ways, the best so far has been suboxone. I have shot subs with naloxe, and never been shot into automatic withdrawal. But as my doctor noticed that after 8 years of oxy pain management I started to have track marks as I had gotten addicted to heroin too. An old college budddy saw my downward spiral he handed me a bag of 24 subutex. Thank god he did. even know I am addicted to the needle.I have learned to be able to take the subutex and not to shoot it. Thanks to subutex I am now a week clean and a week and a half off the needle. Thank the good lord father I am finally clean now.
