White Pill With N And 36

Updated

Hi,

I found two pills in my sons room and would like to know their identity. White pill with 36 and N on opposite side + a grey pill with 27 and N on opposite side. I searched all the databases and found nothing.

Any assistance or suggestions would be grateful. Thanks.

Hi, I found the same pills in my daughters room yesterday (22 jun 11) and did a search but only found this thread. Unfortunately it seems impossible to find anything on the internet with this type of pill (white oblong with n on one side and 36 on the other). I do, however, find it interesting that two sets of parents find this type of pill in their teenagers possession within the same week. This concerns me greatly as this could possibly be a new type of "cool" drug for teenagers... My next step may be to go to a pharmacy and ask the pharmacist but I am concerned that there may be legal consequences depending on this type of drug. If anyone out there knows what this drug is please let us know - perhaps our teens are in great danger.

I have tried searching for these for the past few days, even varying the imprints slightly, but there is nothing coming up in our U.S. prescription drug resources.

This leaves 2 other possibilities, the first is that they are something available over the counter and, if that is the case, it may difficult to discover what they are, because OTC manufacturers do not have to log their imprints with the FDA.

The second is that they could be a foreign medication, which could also make them difficult to identify, because most other countries don't regular their medications as strictly as the U.S. does.

The only thing I found on this was one post where someone said that these the ones with the N 36 marking were Ephedrine, but this has not been confirmed.

And Cyndie, if you did check with a pharmacist, if you just say that you found the tablets, there would be no legal ramifications. People lose pills and others find them, all the time. The only way a problem would arise would be if you were to take in a large quantity of them and they turned out to be a controlled or illegal substance.

Does anyone else recognize these tablets?

Thank you so much for taking the time out to research and communicate, Verwon - I really appreciate your help. I took your advice and went to a pharmacist with one pill and he intentionally came over to me to give me the details as he looked me in the eye (needless to say I became incredibly concerned at this point). This pill is called 'Concerta' which is Ritalin. I have heard on the news about teens using Ritalin to get the same type of high as speed (if they are not actually suffering from ADHD). So the mystery is solved and I am now looking up the details about this pill and what happens when it is mixed with marijuana. Worried Dad>> I hope this helps you and you can now do your research and then hopefully set your son on the right path.
Thank you again for all your help!

Thanks so much for your assistance on this! If it is Concerta why did it not show up in the searches? Which pill did you take to the pharmacist?
I guess now comes the parenting challenge...

hi Worried Dad,
I honestly don't know why these pills did not show up anywhere on the internet... The one that I brought to the pharmacist was the oblong white pill with N on one side and 36 on the other. If you are concerned about the other pill, I would take it to a pharmacist and check it out. The pharmacist looked concerned for me when he was explaining what it was - he knew what was going on without me saying a word. Unfortunately my kid fell in with the wrong crowd and we are almost helpless to help her. But at least we now know part of what we are up against. Good luck, Worried Dad, I hope everything works out for you and your family.

Thanks Cyndie,
I'll take in the pills to see what the pharmacists says. My kid is a good kid and the crowd he hangs with is not so bad. I think these teen years are full of pitfalls and temptations and it's my job to offer guidance and support. Everything will be ok.

btw
The pills do not show up in the directories bc they are generic. Same product, just not brand name.
FYI The pharmacist said that students will use the drug to focus during exams or stay up late to study. Not typically used for recreational purposes. The main danger is not knowing what is really in the drug/dose.

Cyndie - What did the pharmacist say the white pill was with n on one side and 36 on the other?

Its Ritalin. It's meant for people with ADHD. Students usually use it to focus while they are studying. It is actually affective. As usual, relying on it is dangerous.

just to confirm for everyone that this pill is a type of adhd medication.

and yes, your children are using them to either A. study. B. prevent themselves from passing out when they are drunk. or C. just getting stoned.

my source you may ask? heh. i might just be a teenager who has them for the same purpose as your kids.

I hope you find they are innocuous tablets when you do discover their identity. It makes me think of the time I phoned my pharmacist when I found odd looking white pills in my teens room only to be told they were Canderal sweetener pills! Ha ha ha. My face was red but what a relief!

I found an exact link of the images I think you are describing. I was also trying to figure out what these were because my friend gave me one after I complained about my ability to concentrate and focus (I describe it as being lost in the woods of my mind).

concerta and generic pill images

What you are describing sounds like generic concerta. Apparently, it has not-so-great side effects, but is $100 cheaper. The link I posted has a nice rundown of the differences between the pills. I know this is an old post, but I came across it looking for the same answer, and I wanted to be 100% sure it was based on an actual photo. I hope this helps others.

Re: cyndie (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

On the search I did it comes back to be a controlled-2 substance...it's used to treat ADHD and other things. Basically it's prescribed methamphetamine.
