I've used Paregoric for 15 years and can't find it. Is there anywhere in the U.S. or other countries where this can be purchased?

I need this for my daughter. She can't keep anything down and the doctors do nothing but prescribe crap. She'll die soon if she doesn't get help!!!

What pharmacy carries this? I'm desperate. I have extreme IBSD. (Explosive). This was the only drug that worked. I need help. I can't eat if I have to go out. I'm down to 97.5 lbs.

My pharmacist suggested liquid codeine. I've called Hi-Tech Pharmacal but they didn't really give me an answer. I've been waiting on a refill since October of last year and every month they just push back the "expected date" to the next month.This is the ONLY thing that stops the diarrhea and pain from sevire cramping for me. I sure wish I would of stocked up before this last dry spell. I pray they bring it back soon!
I've also had it compounded in the past when it was unavailable some years ago. However I'm not able to get it compounded recently. :(

Ive used this drug since 1970 and its one of the few that works. Im at a total loss how to deal with this new problem. Maybe a compounding pharmacy. This is now a big issue for me. Any suggestions?

I have used Paragoriv/Opium Tincture for 3 years. I have no colon & 13" of small intestine left. My illeostomey is almost in my stomach. So all I eat /drink,especially if it contains sugar leaves my body anywhere from immediately to appx. 3 hours. This, of course depends on what I have consumed. Crohns disease is my issue. I live in eastern NC & haven't had much of a problem getting my medicine until about a year ago. Today I found out Hi-Tech has it on back order due to supply & demand. When I asked the spvsr when they would begin mfg again she didn't know. However, she did say she hopes to know something by Wed. I get mine from Walmart & Express Scripts/Medco. I don't believe the powers that be understand the severity of the need for this drug. I need it to stay alive. By taking it, my nutrients is able to feed the other organs in my body, I don't pass out & I don't have sprained ankles, bruised knees or knots on my head. I have been on TPN, HAD NUMEROUS PICC LINE INFECTIONS & I WOULD JUST LIKE MY MEDICINE SO I CAN LIVE A SOMEWHAT NORMAL LIFE!!! I guess we will all have to put our big panties on & go to Washington. That or move to the Bahamas.

I fought diarreha for 30 years, thru many doctors I had a doctor help me by using a cholesterol medicine called Welchol. It helped but was not a cure I was diagnosed with cancer and started Chemo at the very beginning. I had severe diarrhea and chills. I called my doctor and told him what was going on and he had me stop Chemo treatment immediately and said they were just treating the symptoms not the problem and sent me to an infectious disease doctor. I ended up having C diff in the blood stream. With this doctor it seemed to improve my problem immensely. I had previously been checked for C diff in the stool. I would think if they can have recreational marijuana and medical marijuana they should be able to have paregoric early on. I used paregoric until they took it off the market. It was the only thing that would help me.

Funny how so many people are dying or experiencing debilitating effects of the FDA's "approved" medications, such as blood thinners, nsaids, etc. The only people who died from taking paregoric? Drug abusers. Look at the IBS drugs out today. Their side effects are worse than the pain from those with irritable bowel symptoms. So I say the FDA and DEA are full of s***. Big Pharma didn't like that such a simple, low-cost drug was the perfect solution to people's pain. It makes me sick. The FDA and DEA are a joke.

I have a drug store in Harpersville AL who compounds paregoric for me but it is very expensive. $80 a bottle

Get your doctor to write a prescription for it. He or she will probably have to spell it out as last year it wasn't on the list of drugs that doctors can pull up. CVS Drugstore in Palatka, Florida filled it for me. CVS had Paregoric in their warehouse. Get your druggist to check and see if their warehouse has it, then get your doctor to write a prescription.

Am also recovering in AA 28 years. I have only 10% use of my pancreas and have gotten relief from a mixture of lomotil and paregoric. Now I can't find the paregoric anywhere. Could you share any info on obtaining it? I would really appreciate it.

I understand 100%, I found the same kind of relief with Paregoric, from the same kinds of symptoms. I don't understand how writing a prescription would help, though, at least not where I live, because my dr. did give me a handwritten prescription and I was told by several pharmacies (I live in Maryland) that it is not made anymore. So, I wonder if CVS in my state would have it....... Have you found anything else that works for you the same? Because I have not. Thank you.
