Solco Healthcare is a U.S. based company that is FDA approved.

Have you had some problem with this product?

There are more Metformin details available here.

Solco metformin is made in India like so many other generics of this drug. This is according to the label facsimile shown on the NIH Dailymed site (search on metformin and then locate Soclo in the results), Solco metformin is made in India.

I obtain my Metformin meds at Publix. Since Publix changed to this manufacturer I noticed this med has a bad rotten odor to them . . . disgusting. I also noticed that since taking them, my body is reacting more -- with nausea, loose bowels and stomach cramping. How is this medication different from the one Publix was previously dispensing? Why the odor?

I too get Metformin, Solco from Publix, since they switch to this manufacturer my A1C is no longer under control and has continued to rise to near 8 (it was under 7). When I questioned Publix about it they told me that changing manufacturers would not have anything to do with my blood sugar steadily rising. Not sure about that so I will be transferring my prescription to another pharmacy that carries a different maf.

My experience with Solco Metformin was really terrible. I was taking 500mg twice a day for a year and a half, Mfr: Interpharm inc. (Japan I think) and lowered A1c from 6.2 without anything to 5.7 with Interpharm. After Costco switched to Solco my A1c jumped to 6.3 on the same 500mg twice daily. So does Metformin from India work? No! Caremark just sent another sub for Glucophage also from India but I called and told them I would not use it. Read Richard Bernstein's books on controlling Diabetes. He only prescribes the brand name Glucophage manufactured in the US to his patients. Why worn folks not to fill prescriptions from Canada to save $$ because they might be tainted having been made abroad and then sell those same suspicious drugs in US pharmacies? This makes no sense.
