Hi Lorin,

Based on my research, Prolase is a digestive enzyme, intended to help the body digest proteins in the small intestine. I believe it is derived from the Papaya fruit. It is a dietary supplement and shouldn't cause any adverse reactions unless you are allergic to Papaya.. if you have an allergic reaction you may experience stomach discomfort or nausea, but those symptoms are rare. It shouldn't take more than an hour to digest and start to take effect, but there are a number of factors that can determine it's effectiveness. If you eat a lot before or after you take the tablet, it may take longer to digest. I've personally used enzymes of this sort and I didn't have any problems- that's just my experience though..

Do you have any more questions?

I fractured my toe bone and have been wearing a back slab for the 4th week. My toes were swollen and the doctor gave me prolase to reduce the swelling in my toes. How come I can't see any recommendations on use of prolase for this purpose?
