Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 32)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

Hi, saw your post. Did Kroger tell you what generic they are carrying now because I don't think we can find Watson anymore since the company is sold. It makes me sick because it was the only pain reliever that actually worked with no side effects. I have also just recently spoke to a good friend and he was taking Qualitest and said it was garbage too. What he meant by that was it DOES NOT work and for him it made him very aggiated which he couldn't stand so he quit that too. I get my RX re- filled in 3 days. What will i do I don't know yet but I am leaning towards brand name percocet. I have heard roxicet works good but then a few people on other sites said it is WAY too strong and these were men using it. The only good thing is I believe they are pills like the Watson and can be halved. I sure don't want something exceedingly strong that will prevent me from leaving the house. This is HORRIBLE!

Sorry for the typos...*when my post says "email", I meant to say "them"..darn auto correct....I actually found this pharmacist that worked at my Walgreens but transfered to a different location...he s so cool n easy to talk to u would never think he was a pharmacist...I told him what's goin on n what could I do n he told me to call 800-walgreens n complain. He also told me he has received a few complaints. He also told me to try Kroger supermarket and see if they carry Watson ....I called one in another town that was open 24 hrs since it was at night n they told me they did use Watson but have whatever brand now....she said she didn't know if all kroger pharmacies have this other brand as well so im gonna call around when it gets closer to my refill day. I read on another blog that this qualitest is no comparison to watson. Someone has to be able to get this medication...its crazy how they just disappeared ....If I find something, u all will b the first to know!

Hello all,

Wow, much going on. Don't know where to start. I will say I go to Walgreens also and they didnt tell me. As far as complaing to pharmacies, dont think they really care. Whoever says there not getting compaints, they are lying. If people dont notice a difference, then maybe their not in that bad of pain. Saturday night I slept 18 hours on this crap. Last nite I slept two. Now I'm at work after two hours sleep. Grrrrr. None of the paharcies carry Watson anymore.
Jan-I do wonder if they are trying to make this drug weaker so people will go off it or give up. Right now it keeps me my job and insurance and able to work. My Rx is due on 3-18 and see the doc that day. I guess I'll try for Roxicet or Brand Perc. Walgreens is the only pharmacy in my area that carrys any of these products. Rite Aid doesnt carry it at all.

Just an update. I have heard a few more positive reviews about the Qualitest brand. I guess I'll give it a try. I will let everyone know how it goes. I will refill on the 17th of this month.

Hi Jennifer,

Yes, that happened to me before as well. Once you take the medication from the pharmacy, you're stuck! It happened to me with Endocet, and I ended up having to pay for another prescription, and my insurance had paid for the first one. I was really irritated. I hate that they don't tell you about the changes. I plan on getting the Qualitest brand next time. I do plan to see what Costco has, but the problem with that is our membership has expired. We do plan on renewing, but not until April. I'm trying to keep busy, but that's really hard when you;re in pain, as I'm sure everyone knows. These really do make you tired and sluggish, as you said. There's a link to the FDA, that someone on this thread posted. So far I have not heard from Actavis. I tried calling and emailing. They will care when no one wants these pills that don't work!

Hi guys...im so glad I came across this thread...I too would use w algreens just because they used watson for their percocet 10/325 and they were the only ones that would work for me..I've used the same pharmacy/location like clockwork...they knew exactly who I was when I pick up my meds every month...a week ago I go pick email up and pull out of the drive thru n check my bag only to notice they were a different generic...ACTAVIS! I went back around to the window n asked what happened n told them I can't use anything other than watson n they told me thats what theyre using now n they can't take email back...what nerve not to tell their patients before taking possession of them. I told the pharmacist they dont work n he replied,"they should...no reason not to, theyre still percocet". How does he not know there are differences? I am soooo mad! These are not working n making me so tired n sluggish I can't stand it! If someone tries another pharmacy generic and find it works, please send me a reply letting me know...PRERELEASE! Thank you guys!

Hi Cole,

I just spoke to Walgreen's here in Sacramento. They still say, that there hasn't been any complaints. The pharmacist, said that people will probably get used to it, like they did when the yellow Norco, was changed to white. She also said it would be fine, because they have no other choices. I let her know, that Rite aid has the "Qualitest" brand, and that I will not be getting that Actavis next time. She sounded really surprised. I could tell be the tone of her voice, that this is really being taken lightly. I am going to check a few more pharmacies today, to see if there is any "Watson" brand left out there.

Well what walreens is saying and what is happening is two different things I know several people upset about the change the line of work I'm in people complain a lot. What about FDA forum?? People are probably afraid to complain to pharmacies because they may seem like drug seekers that's what people automatically think it's a cruel crazy world.

Hi Cole,

I think we should complain to the pharmacies. Complaining to Actavis isn't doing much good at this point. Walgreen's said, they aren't getting complaints so they think all is well. I'm going to call them tomorrow to complain again.

Hello I was reading all the comments and my fiance is in the same boat Watson is no longer available and he has chronic kidney stones has for 13 years the Watsons worked wonders for him. Now walgreens has some crap pill. They don't work they make him extremely tired and he has almost had to go to the hospital twice but they just give him dilaudid and that makes him sleep for like 2 days. What happened with the Watsons??? Even before they were taken off the shelves. I people complained how different generics had different effects on them, it's crazy considering it's the same strength?? Why is this happening like you all his pain was under control now they want him seeing a pain specialist but the roxicet is too strong for him makes him sick and if Watsons are gone seems he will get no relief. I knew the 5/325mg and 7.5/325mg was different I didn't know the 10/325 was gone as well. I hope you have found some relief I want to help.

Martin,

My heart really goes out to you. I hope since it's Friday, you will be able to get some rest this weekend. I'm glad that we can all be a listening ear for one another. Sometimes your loved ones, get tired of hearing about your aches and pains. I've kind of gotten used to trying to hold it inside. I'm glad I found this forum. Thanks everyone for your support.

Hi Lola,

Thank you for thinking about me. Everything you said about Gabapentin is true. I was kind of caught up, in what the doctor was saying. It really sounded like something that would help. It is finally wearing off so I feel better. i do feel like another day has been wasted. Wednesday, I drummed up the strength to cook a nice dinner for a change. I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. I even made a pecan pie. It must be the stress of these pills, because I am eating way too much sugar. I'm actually losing weight since I got this brand of opiate. I tend to lose my appetite, when I'm in a lot of pain. Well. I guess I will try to work on my new project, a sweater coat. Thanks for reminding me about the link.

Jan, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad and that you are in bed. I must not have read your post correctly sorry about that but i too was given gabapentin years ago. I guess it is used off label for nerve pain but is a seizure medication if I am correct. Anyway, I just like you could not tolerate this med. It made me sick as well and doesn't touch nerve pain. The opiod meds in my opinion are better for nerve pain. It still is so unbelievable that we cannot get Watson anymore. It was the only generic that took away all the pain with no side effects. This is just awful for so many of us. I will also be contacting the link to the FDA.

Hi Martin, and everyone,

Like you said Martin, they always try to push you onto some other drug. I feel so terrible. It's bad enough, that this Actavis has slowed me down to almost a crawl, now they had to add something else. I'm about to e-mail the sports medicine doctor, to let her know I will not be taking Gabapentin! I have not gotten anything done today. I've been in my bedroom for 2 days, this is not living!

Hello, yes please email Actavis and another post by Naomi posted a link to the FDA I have already emailed them with a long list of what is going on. We have to do something and the only was is to complain and let them know we all have a voice. I will also be using that link to the FDA.

Hi Martin,

Yes, I still have nausea. It got a little better after I ate lunch. Sometimes seven-up or sierra mist helps. I'm sorry if this message is weird, It's this Gabapentin. I am going to try to sleep it off. I will get back to you all this evening. I have not heard from Actavis pharma yet!

Hi Naomi,

I will certainly use the form to complain. I will have to do it later, because the Gabapentin that I took has me feeling terrible. I am dizzy and very tired and drowsy. I will not be taking this medication for nerve pain. I would rather stick with the opiates.

Hi Jan, so sorry you are having the stomach issue I had the same thing along with cramping which I NEVER had with Watson. I totally agree with you we must all call the company that is the ONLY way this situation can be turned around. I have emailed the company with a very long rant so I know they got it. If you can't get through calling please email them. The more complaints is going to be the only way to get this fixed - the only way. Have a good day all.

I had the unfortunate experience of taking a Actavis 5/325 oxycodone/apap generic last night. I have never had such horrible heart palpatations or anxiety!! And it barely touched the severe headache I took it for and left me with a worse headache 2 hours after my second pill (6 hours apart.) I have contacted Walgreen's who claims they haven't had any complaints besides mine (yeah right) and I've emailed Actavis. I also downloaded the form to complain to the FDA and encourage you all to do the same. This is unacceptable. Here's the link to the FDA form. fda.gov/downloads/AboutFDA/ReportsManualsForms/Forms/UCM349464.pdf

Hello all,

Yes Jan, I'm having intestinal issues too. Worse than usual. Thankfully a stool softener has worked so far. Is this Actavis crap some sort of cheap Hydrocodone? Why was Hydro brought up. I did notice on the med sheet it said "do not take this if you are allergic to hydrocodone". Dont remeber it saying that before. Vicodin (Hydro) does not work for me. Not strong enough.
Went to bed at 8 last nite. Sick and in pain. Have taken a few more Actavis than I'm supposed to cause theyre so weak. Not a ton more but I'm sure the doctors will scold me. Somebody turned the heat up at work yesterday. It was like 80 degrees in the office. I have headaches. This doesnt help. It was pure torture ladies.
Jan, I know about the docs. My docs always try if you say your pain meds arent working all kinds of other crap. I WILL be going in and saying Oxycodone works, lets not change ANYTHING. It was working until the Acatavis junk. I guess my choices are Roxicet or pure (brand) Oxycodone. Thats what the pharmacist told me.
And maybe add Tylonel OTC to it. I may call Actavis but doubt they will do much. I tried once and was on hold for a while. Should I email. Hope everyone is doing ok today. yesterday my co worker called in sick. I had to do two peoples jobs in horrible pain. Absolute torture. happy Friday gals!
