Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 10)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

Hi everyone,

Today is a better day! I think my body is getting used to the Mallinckrodt brand. Martin I am so sorry to hear, that this new medication is not working well for you. Do you think it's a matter of getting used to it? It took me about 5 days, after being on the Actavis to see pain relief from the current medication. I can wait longer between doses now. Lola, do you plan to get something for pain? I know it's scary, trying to figure out what to try. For me, I had to take a chance because I had to have some kind of pain relief. You don't want to be in bed all day, which is what happens when you get no pain relief. I feel bad for everyone here. Pain really changes the quality of our lives, and for people to make it worse by using us as lab rats is terrible! At least if we get some sort of pain relief, we can get something done on an average day.

I am also a chronic pain patient and tonight received my first prescription of A333, the Actavis generic for Percocet. I immediately thought the Target pharmacy had pulled the wrong med. I am a pharmacologist so I know FOR A FACT there is something terribly wrong with this formulation. Please stop taking and report it to the FDA. Of course the drug company won't do anything but the FDA will but only if there are enough reports to trigger an investigation. I don't know how to put the link here so if you want to report, google this: FDA and FAERS. I am reporting now.

If you know Annie that it's something totally wrong how is it not approved yet but on the market? This all seems so crazy to me my fiance with all these people are in so much pain and on top of it sick and what's weird is some targets supposedly don't have acta vis but it seems that's the only manufacturer around. Walgreen CVS and now your saying target which I know in prior talks someone said target had another company. What are these people and my fiance suppose to do until something is done suffer?

Annie how do you report to this agency? I went to the website but not sure do I call or email? I'll report and have my husband do the same and I will guarantee these people will as well is this not okay for people to be taking besides the side effects is it dangerous???

Lola, do you have a Rite Aid? They do not carry actavis, I called. The pharmacist told me yesterday everyone is saying the actavis have no pain relief now. No side effects, just no pain relief. Martin, I am sorry!! I am also one who benefits from the tylenol with oxycodone and not just oxycodone. I am not trying brand name until I get a lower dose Monday. I am taking half of the 10/325 mallinckrodt now with no problems.

That article is oxycontin, not percocet.

Hi Lisa...the article says oxycontin which oxycodone is the generic for...notice at the end of the first paragraph it says oxycontin (oxycodone)......there's also another link on the bottom of that article under the reference that I clicked on and found interesting. This is horrible how they can mess with our medicine. What they need to do is crack down on people who are going from doctor to doctor to get one script on top of the other to abuse it...not mess with the medication itself. I wouldn't doubt that eventually a manufacturer will start promoting that they dont use these abuse deterrent polymers in their oxycodone, promising the best form of generic pain relief to those who are in need of. Just give it a few years....unfortunately, that doesnt help us now. Im seeing my doctor this morning and am going to ask to have my script split into two different scripts this way I can get one filled with a different manufacturer and then try another after and see what happens. Im going to call everywhere, even little independent stores to see what they're carrying. ....will go from there!

Thanks for the info but if they don't have Actavis what one do they carry then? I think we do have rite aid in my area. Thanks

Hi everyone,

I just wanted everyone to know, if you type in Actavis in the search box, there is a whole different thread going on about how it doesn't work. I found that out by accident, when I didn't have the link to go to from my email. I was surprised that a whole different group of people are complaining about it.

Hi Martin,

I've been thinking, and If you do other oxycodone searches on this site, you find a lot of complaints. I'm wondering, if someone has decided to alter a lot of this pain medication. You said you got something stronger, and it still didn't work and this Mallinckrodt isn't working that great for me either. Just a thought!

People are saying is not a good formula and that's scary and for taking out their addictive stuff or whatever to get messed up for people abuse it, it seems your taking out the pain relief for everyone else. I think they need to worry about other things and not messing with people's pin relief and how bad it's messing with people's life. And a pharmacist is saying it's a not OKAY or not at good thing. The FDA can't think it's okay and we need to keep writing them

I was so sick from the actavis! I returned it to the MD and had to pay over 500.00 myself at rite aid for another med that does not work! Only consolation is less side effects but it does not work and makes me so tired. Name is Amneal. Will not get it again. Will get script for brand only or pharmacy shop but I was told this was OK and its not effective.

Hi Nancy, saw your post and so sorry to hear about that. I posted awhile back that Amneal and Alvogen were no good - I'm sorry you didnt see that. I am wondering why though did you have to pay $500.00 for another generic? I received the brand name percocet the other day 5/325 because my insurance accepted to pay for most of it cost me $100.00 and the pills are blue and are pure CRAP. Do not get the brand name they are not working and again gave me an upset stomach so bad that I hardly slept last night. So I am like you in the same boat AGAIN for another month. I think I have to face the fact as I guess we all must do now is that nothing will ever compare to Watson in effectiveness and not havng any side effects. It just isn't worth it anymore with all the side effects i might as well just take OTC meds now. I am tired of not getting relief and then ON TOP of it all side effects! I am afraid there are no other generics. A friend of mine once had roxicets though and he said those are the closest to Watson. However, I have yet to be able to find those. If anyone has any ideas please let us all know.

I read somewhere on another site awhile back that there is a conversion chart somewhere that u can list a medication and it will give u the active ingredient with percentages and list other medication brands in order of which is the closest to the one u listed....anyone know about this? I cant believe that even the name brand percocets dont work? I dont get it? There has to be something!?

Hi Lola,

No, the Mallinckrodt is not working for me! I had the worse pain day ever. In fact, I am going to ask to start my ambien again. I don't get very much sleep because of the pain. I am going way over my daily limit, in order to try to get some pain relief. I hate to say it, but it wasn't this bad with the Actavis. I really don't know what to do. Doctor's seem to get upset when you complain about these drugs not working. The most pain relief I got, was when I put my wet towel in the microwave, like they did at physical therapy. I'm going to do it again in a few minutes. I'm going to buy a new heating pad tomorrow. I have to have some pain relief. Something has to be going on! All of these people suffering this way.

Hi all,

I never thought I would say this, but I guess I will go back to Actavis. These Mallickrodt's are way worse, because I am getting no pain relief! At least with the Actavis toward the end of the bottle, I got some pain relief. I am getting none right now. I'm back to not feeling like doing anything, my stomach feels awful and I just feel terrible. like I said, I'm afraid to tell the doctor as I don't want to end up with nothing. I can't believe I'm in this position again, of waiting for time to go by! Let me know if anyone finds something else that works. Otherwise, I might as well go back to Actavis.

Hi all,

Have any of who that aren't getting pain relief made an actual complaint with the FDA again this is a trail enough complaints and stuff might stop it. Also my fiance got 5/325 and I will have to find out what brand it was but said was better and stronger than actavis 7.5mg it's crazy. I will post later what brand off the top of my head I don't remember.

Hi all,

Update from me. I am now on the Oxycodone IR for 6 days. It is better than Actavis but not nearly as effective as Watson. Side effects are minimal. Nightmares and like amorning hangover. They are not that great for pain. Rate them about a 5. Not sure what to do but probbably suffer for 3 months until my next appt. if you mess too much at the Pain Clinic they think you are a druggie and will try and cut you off.
I called Actavis last week to complain about Quality. Thye transferred me to another dept. I had to hang up. They have called me like FIVE times since. Do they really care about my health? Or afraid of legal suits?

Jan, I would be careful about Actavis. I was very sick and would NEVER take it again. It one time made me feel like my heart was gonna explode. No idea whats in that stuff. Hope everyone is well
