I'VE BEEN ASKED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC. VERY WELL... LORTAB'S ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS OF DECEMBER... ANYONE STILL BUYING THEM WITHOUT TROUBLE, ESPECIALLY AS A WATSON GENERIC ?, ALSO, THE WATSON 853 WHICH IS THE NUMBER WATSON MAKES FOR " NORCO " , IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE,,, ANYONE STILL ABLE TO BUY THEM ??? I WOULD SURE LIKE TO KNOW IF SO, WHERE AND WHEN. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE, MAYBE A FEW LEFT IN LARGE CITIES, OR IN PHARMACIES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN DEPLETED YET, BUT I VENTURE TO SAY , IT WONT BE FOR MUCH LONGER, AS THEY ARE ALL GONE HERE, AND NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE...

Hello, Dr. Moki! How are you?

What is actually going on is an overall change to all combination prescription medications that contain Acetaminophen. The FDA has requested that the dosage in all of them be lowered to no more than 325mgs per dose. This request was made due to the risk of liver damage or failure that can be associated with long-term use of high amounts, as well as the risk of overdose.

Some companies have already begun to implement the change and the rest must have it done by the beginning of the new year (2014), so all the previous doses are disappearing from the market, part of that is also due to the shortage that occurs this time of year and when they are available again, it will be with only the low dosage of Acetaminophen.

As to the Watson tablets with the 853 marking, the issue there is the shortage, which almost always occurs this time of year due to the mandatory manufacturing limits, plus the fact that they are reformulating their products to remove the dye.

Learn more Norco details here.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
