W 40 Oxy Cr

Updated

My doctor prescribed me Oxy Neo but when I went to the pharmacy they weren't covered they cost $350. That's way to expensive!!! Then the pharmacist told me about a generic brand which cost $170. So I got that brand but it doesn't help my pain. I looked on the net for some info about them but I can't find anything that looks like my brand!!! The bottle says Co-Oxycodone CR 40 mg, Oxycodone Hydrochloride 40 mg. The pill is round and yellow with the words OXY CR on the front and W 40 on the back. I haven't seen this kind of pill before!! What is it?? Is it generic OxyContin or what?? Plz help me out!! Need some info!!

Hello,

I am having trouble locating the pill you are describing. Does the bottle say who manufactured the pills? I can tell you that it "might" not be working as well because of the fact it is a generic. Based on my research, the FDA permits generic formulas to vary by as much as 20% from the active ingredients in brand formulas. If you find out who the manufacturer is, I can try and find their contact information for you.

I hope this helps!

No It doesn't say who manufactured it. That's my problem too I have looked all over the net and none of the pills look like mine!!! I'm hoping the pharmacist didn't give me the wrong meds by mistake!! There is a din number is that useful?? Should I just call the pharmacy and ask who manufactured this medication?? I have expressed my concern to my pharmacist about this he just insists that it's generic OxyContin but when I can't find ANYTHING about it on the net that worries me!!!!

I can tell you right now, every bottle of any prescription you get has the manufacturer on it, its just abbreviated down to 3 letters. But that's generic oxycontin yes, manufactured by Cobalt Pharma. Jenna, the reason why you couldn't find anything for it is because you're from the States. We're from Canada. But yeah. That's by cobalt. I'm surprised the pharmacist even gave you those if you had a script for Neo's. But I've been hearing the Apotex generic Oxycontin (Apo-Oxycodone CR) is the best for the generics. Pretty much as good as the old ones.

I now get the oxy CR on one side and W 40 on the other. Much better then oxyneo.
Also on Hydromorph Contin take two times a day12mg. The Dr. last week put me on Hydromorph 4mg. it's a pill not a capsule to be taken twice a day. Does anyone know the difference between the two? Thanks

I'm assuming that the doctor has given you the 4mg tablets for breakthrough pain. These tablets ARE NOT "time released", or "sustained release", or "continuous released", or "extended release", etc, etc...

Often when treating a patient with chronic pain, most physicians will include a pain reliever that will provide quick therapeutic effects, ie: pain relief. These medications are generally not referred to by any special terms, but it is possible to see them sometimes referred to as "immediate release" or "instant release"....Basically, these medications are "normal" capsules and tablets that dissolve just as any other medication would.
