I started taking Vyvanse in July of 2012. For about 4 weeks prior to that, I had been taking about 40mg of AdderallXR that I had gotten from a friend. I know taking anything not prescibed for you is a terrible idea but I was convinced that I had severe ADHD and when things started getting stressful at work, I started to fall apart because the coping mechanisms that had become part of my life couldn't cope enough anymore. It was very, very difficult to find a physician that would help me, they would want to do a list of tests or therapy or some anti-depressant that never worked when I was a kid. On psychiatrist wanted me to do neural feedback therapy that would be months of treatments, hours at a time, and cost a lot of money. I didn't have months, hours, or money, I WAS LOSING M...

Well I've had many late nights the past 7 months on vyvanse but I have never had a full one..I'm talking up since 11 am yesterday and it's currently 8 am (took 80mg but at like..3pm)..really no point in sleeping now, and I took 0.5 mg of clonazepam and it did nothing. BASICALLY for me to get through the day (until 10 pm ish) should I get the f*** up and get a vanilla latte at Starbucks and then take my 80 mg again? I really hate feeling as if I'm "abusing" my medication because it truly has worked wonders for my GAD and inability to focus... But right now is crunch time and I have to finish a paper today for tomorrow, and I have class 6-9 I need to be alert for (in class-quiz)... HELP PLEASEEE ## Hi Alessia, It sounds like this medication is working too well if y...

My daughter is 12 and has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. She has been started on this medication..Vyvanse. It seems to be helping her concentrate and her behavior seems better. However, her appetite is poor. I would like to take her off the medication for weekends. Her doctor thinks it is better for her to take it 7 days every week. Do you know if thats necessary? ## Hello, I'm sorry to hear that. My research suggests that patients who use Vyvanse should be aware that they can suffer from serious withdrawal symptoms if they abruptly stop using the medication. Therefore, I think it would be best to speak with your doctor about switching your daughter to something that won't alter her appetite- or have her continue to take the Vyvanse every day of the week like your doctor has...

I have read on this forum about auditory hallucinations with vyvanse. Is this a common side effect? Is it a side affect for meds like Adderrall also, or just this medication? ## Hello, Based on my research, mental/mood/behavior changes (such as agitation, aggression, mood swings, depression, hallucinations, and abnormal thoughts/behavior) are serious side effects of Vyvanse. Those side effects may also occur with Adderrall- but are rare. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Vyvanse Details You can learn more about this drug on the page for Amphetamine + Dextroamphetamine Details I hope this info helps!

I'm a senior in high school and have been taking vyvanse since the middle of my freshman year. I take it every school day for my ADD. I'm prescribed 40 mg. I've never been able to think a perfect way to describe how I feel when it's wearing off. After about 3 hours I'll start to feel like there's fog in my head. Everything seems hazy and dream like. I'll become extremely irritated to the point where the next person that talks is lucky they aren't getting punched. At lunch I won't eat from no appatite and I'll sit there with my friends as I say nothing. I feel awkward, nervous, anxious, alone, and paranoid. I don't want anything to do with anyone maybe because I feel like something's wrong with me. Later on in the day I begin to feel my fac...

I have a 12 year old son who has been taking Vyvanse for the last 6 months. His performance has been outstanding, but he has not grown in height since he started the Vyvanse. He grew eight inches in the year priort to taking the meds. We've taken him off for the summer, but does anyone else have experience with this? ## The FDA actually does acknowledge that growth stunting has been known to occur in some kids that take stimulant medications for ADHD and, if it occurs, they may need to stop the medication. Learn more Vyvanse details here. Have you informed his doctor? They are actually supposed to monitor the weight and growth of children that are taking these medications, on a regular basis.

My son is 14 and has been taking Vyvanse for about one year now. His current dose is 60mg daily. Over the past 4 months he has been experiencing side effects that led doctors to think that he has Neuro-Cardiogenic Syncope also known as POTS (Postural Orhtostatic Tachycardia Syncope). So now on top of his Vyvanse he is now taking Toprol 25mg daily. His symptoms include rapid heart beat, dizziness, blurred vision, and chest pain. He had a TILT test performed and failed. But now after reading more, I think that these symptoms are all side effects of his medication. He participates in sports and can no longer get through a wrestling match without the symptoms so severe, he has to quit the match. Has anyone else had this? ## Hi Paula, I'm sorry to hear about what you and your son are goi...

I am a 21 year old college student looking to buy vyvanse wtihout a prescription.... I know that is probably the worst intro and most people will think I just want it to cram for tests or whatever, but that is not the case. I have struggled with focusing, procrastinating, forgetfulness, and mistakes in my school work since I was very young. I am not comfortable going to a doctor with this information because I am still on my parent's health insurance and they don't understand why I would need something like this. I don't need a lecture - I have tried vyvanse several times and it helped so much! I felt motivated and focused without any bad side effects. Now I want to try taking it on a regular basis, but I have struggled to figure out a way to get it... help.

I have been on Vyvanse for 6 weeks. I started at 30 mg for 2 days, then went up to 60 until I saw my doctor about 2 1/2 weeks later. She then prescribed me the full 70 mg dose as well as 30 mg of Adderall for the afternoons, which I have taken either 15 or 30 mg in the afternoon maybe 2 times a week at most. Well, I have lost about 23 pounds which is great, but this weekend I started noticing these dizzy spells, which last for about 10 seconds and seem to come out of nowhere. I am thinking it has something to do with the fact that I am barely eating anything, and when I do its just a few bites here or there. I have absolutely no appetite and I wouldn't doubt that my blood sugar is getting too low and causing these odd spells. I have also not been so great at keeping up with my water...

are you aloud to be in heat while taking this cause i went tanning and im itching all over but i dont know if its that or an allergic reaction ## PLEASE HELP BECAUSE ILL BE ITCHING FOR A WHILE THEN IT WILL STOP ## Most medications can make you more sensitive to the effects of the sun, or tanning apparatus, so it is possible that you've had a photoallergic reaction. Do you have any rash, or redness of the skin where it gets itchy? Have you tried anything to relieve the itching? Your doctor should be able to take a look and tell you if that's what it is, or if it's due to something else. ## oh,

I started on Vyvance about 1.5 years ago by gradually working up to the maximum dosage of 70mg. once in themorning. I thought Id try gettin off the drug and crashed for 3 whole daus. Now I feel likr a Zombie, no energy, no motovation just limp. I realize now that it really did help me tremendously. My question is: Can I now just start back on the 70mg. capsule again after being off of it for 2 weeks? ## Hi Allen, I suggest breaking your 70 mg pills in half and take one of the halves once in the morning for 2 weeks like you used to. Doing it this way shouldn't shock your body and will give it more time to re-adjust to the medication. After the 2 weeks you should be ok to start taking 70mg again, but just listen to your body and do what you feel is right. Learn More: Vyvanse Details I...

I've only been taking the drug for about a week, but I feel great. I have much more energy, confidence, and possibly strength. I have also lost a good portion of my appetite (which is okay, as I'm somewhat overweight. 6'5" 280 lbs, though I am also an offensive lineman for the high school). How long do these effects last? Do they wear off the longer I take them? ## Hi Cameron, I'm glad this medication is working well for you. Over time, the effects you are experiencing may level out some due to an increased tolerance and may not continue to be quite as strong. It's impossible to know for sure though, since everyone reacts to medication differently. Learn More: Vyvanse Details I hope this helps! ## Okay, thanks. I started on 30 mg / the bumped to 50 7 weeks ago and last Fri started on 70 mg. I did not see a huge difference in my weight or appetite about 3 monts ago. It kicked in full force. I had no appetite and my energy level sky rocked. I have went from 176 pounds down to 150. I went from a size 14 down to 8 and sometimes a six I am also on 150 mg of Wellbutrin 3 times per day. This was a huge boost in my energy. Has anyone else had huge weight loss ## Hi Dee, What medication do you think caused the rapid weight loss? If you post back and let me know, I can definitely do some research and see if anyone else has had a similar experience. Thanks!
