I was wondering if anybody has experience suggesting or encouraging his/her doctor to write a specific medication? In my case, it's Vyvanse for ADHD. ## My son is prescribed Vyvanse 50 mg and my pharmacy told me that I can get a 30 day prescription for free he is disabled and I can't afford to pay 900.00 for medication I don't work because I have to take care of him his psychiatrist prescribed this medication for him because it is the only medication that works for him. Hello, I am 39 years old and have been prescribed vyvanse for almost 8 years. Being diagnosed with this as an adult was a game changer for me in so many ways and what I have been able to achieve. Unfortunately, I'm tired of feeling like I'm bothering someone no matter if I'm calling to schedule an appointment, have a question regarding medication or God forbid you would like to speak to the doctor themself. Some of the things I have put up with are mind blowing but I don't know how to find another doctor and I'm afraid of being off my medications. I am a better person, mother, friend, daughter ect.. as long as I do not slip up on appointments and continue to take my meds daily. Okay, so I have a prescription that is exactly 1 month old tomorrow. It is for seven Vyvanse 50 mg and in 2 days I will be getting my normal monthly script for 60 mg Vyvanse. Can I fill the 50 mg for 7 days today without having a problem filling my original script of 60 mg for 30 days? ## Most likely not, it could be seen as suspicious, essentially you'd be going down in your dose, then suddenly back up. The FDA warns that his medication is a controlled substance that carries the risk of being habit forming, it may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and weight loss. Am I going to be OK? ## I took 210mg of Vyvanse and took 60mg of loratab all in about 12 hours? I thought my heart was going to jump right out of my skin. I don't have a question but do have a few thoughts about Vyvanse. I noticed that in the official Vyvanse drug info that Vyvanse was being considered in the treatment of Major Depression Disorder. I have struggled with Bipolar ll for many years with Seasonal Pattern, ie I have extreme depression in the winter and hypomania in the summer. My depressions generally havetreatment resistant and I have been hospitalized several times. A couple of times only ECTs could break my depressions. There have been times when depression threatened my life because it was so unbearable. A couple times ECT's was the only effective treatment. I began Vyvanse 4 months ago to help with weight loss and binge eating. The first month was great and I dropped 10 lbs with no side effects. Months 2-4 have also gone well. No binge eating, no craving. In fact I probably consume around 1000 calories a day. But I have only lost 2 lbs in three months. My doc is mystified. All my blood work was fantastic. No thyroid problem at all nor any other reason why I shouldn't be losing weight. Not a heavy drinker, smoke occasionally and am otherwise healthy. Can Vyvanse cause a false positive for methamphetamine when taking a drug test? ## No, Vyvanse hasn't been known to cause false positives for anything else. Was the person in question taking any other medications, even over the counter products? ## Possible. So will ephedrine or pueudoepedrine. Darvocet or Darvon, (propoxephene) now withdrawn will come up positive as it is related to methadone. I stopped taking Vyvanse for 5 days then took one 40 mg cap on a Thursday, then didn't take anything for four days. Will it show up in a urine screen? ## It is a stimulant, so yes, it might, according to FDA warnings. Was it prescribed for you? If so, you only need to inform them of that, when you are submitting your sample, so they are aware that you have been taking it. In such cases, results for controlled substances are usually thrown out, unless they have not been prescribed. Is there anything else I can help with?

Has anyone heard of such a high dose being prescribed ?? ## Hi Bry, According to the US National Library of Medicine, the maximum recommended daily dose of Vyvanse is 70 mg. They go on to state that "doses greater than 70 mg/day of Vyvanse have not been studied." Doctor took me off vyvanse due to BP issues and put me on low dose of Adderall IR and so I threw the remaining script away for vyvanse, two weeks later put me back on it because BP was resolved and Adderall had bad side effects. I was prescribed Vyvanse to help give me energy because I am diagnosed with fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. I was prescribed Hydrocodon to help with the pain but have not taken it with Vyvanse because I worry about drug I interactions. Would it be safe? I tested positive for cocaine, i do not do cocaine, i am prescribed Vyvanse 70 Mg can that cause a false positive drug screening? ## No, Vyvanse hasn't been know to cause false positives for anything. I had a huge blowout with the woman who runs the urine lab the same day I got the false positive. I also wonder if the result really exists and that it may have been reported to me wrong..? Everyone reacts differently to medications. For me I've decided concerta is the best because this medication, though supposedly less hard on the body, doesn't let me sleep at all. I've always had a lot of trouble sleeping without adding meds to the mix and this trail was hell for me. I'm not an addict overdosing on the medication either. 40mg and I can't sleep, meaning after a week I'm so burn't out that the medicine doesn't even help because my mind and body are run into the ground. I didn't understand why so many people misuse any of these meds. You are putting yourself in danger of heart problems! Is this normal to take this med for 5 yrs? I really never even knew she had adhd? In fact I really dont know why she is taking it or even started. Her phyc. precribed it to her , he also prescribed viibryd which is a ssri. She also takes precocet 10/325 for back pain, i am not sure how many she take, but she has pills located in 3 locations of the house, so she does not always take 4 a day. I have been on Vyvanse now for about a week and a half. I am only taking 30 mg and was diagnosed with Adult ADD. I am not sure if this is usual but I am feeling very sleepy. I see that a lot of people post that they can not sleep, well for me that is not the case. I feel like I am half awake through the morning and the afternoon. The medication seems to wear of in the late afternoon because I slowly start to feel more alert, my apatite comes back, and so does the symptoms of ADD. I have been getting headaches at night. When I am on the Vyvanse, I do feel calmer and able to deal with things better. It has helped with my anxiety which I believe was cause by being unorganized, late, and all over the place before. I like that about this medication but wonder if it's the wrong one for me...

I would like to say that I am a 31 year old man I am 5"11 and weigh 320 pounds I recently took 7 x 60mg vyvanse and need to see what I can expect to happen and if I should consult a doctor or poison control center please?
