I started viibryd about 5 months ago and after the starter pack and my first month on 40 mg I started have noises in my ears. Went back and he said 20 mg is just as good as 20. The noises are getting worse and he said it could be the viibryd but it suppose to be such a wonder drug he wants me to stay on it. I can't stand the noise they are getting worse I'm going to go back on Prozac. Has anyone else had this problem ## Hello, Yvonne! How are you doing? Sorry about the tinnitus. Yes, many doctors get up in the new wonder drug hype, I understand why, since they want to help their patients, but sometimes extra caution would be the best approach, in my opinion….but that's just my opinion. Tinnitus isn't a common side effect, but if only started when you started the Vi...

At first I was a wreck, super high anxiety and depression and I cried several times a day. I think that might have been due to stopping my previous med Celexa though. I'm on day 8 of Viibryd and I really feel like it's starting to help. I take it at night when I plan on going to sleep soon because it gives me stomach upset, not really nausea either but a bad sharp burning pain above my navel. It's nothing that keeps me from sleeping but something I'd rather not deal with during the day hence the night time dose. Another con to my experience with Viibryd so far is I took my first 20 mg. dose last night and had a horrible night trying to sleep. It was hard for me to fall sleep because I had bad anxiety and mild panic attacks. Then once asleep I kept waking up. However desp...

I filled my pill minder and now can't remember what it is ## Hello, Debi! How are you? Are you on Viibryd, by any chance? There's a 20mg Viibryd tablet that matches this description. Learn more Viibryd details here. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and sleep paralysis. In the future, it would be best to leave at least a couple of pills in their pharmacy bottles to identify them and avoid mix-ups, or write down the description and markings of each one.

Background: I'm 47, male, 5'7" 170 lbs. Married 20 years to a great wife, two wonderful children and successful entrepreneur. In 2010, things began to go downhill. My 80 yr old father, to whom I was very close died suddenly. He was the most influential person in my life...a great father and a common sense man that made me the person I am. I followed him into the same career that he pursued as a television broadcast engineer. To say his death took a toll on me would be a massive understatement. Shortly after his death, the television station I worked for (20 years) began to experience major financial problems. It went up for sale. As the guy in my department with the the longest tenure, most experience and making the most money I was in a bad position. When a television stati...

Interesting side effects just on the first week on 10mg. Tonight I will be starting the 20mg. In the past couple of nights I've had almost hallucinations. The shadows in the room at night seem to be moving when there is nothing that could be causing them to move in the room. I'd close my eyes because the moving shadow business was a little too much for me to handle and when I did that I saw like crazy lines and junk, hard to explain. The following day (today). I've felt extreme anxiety. Had kind of a dejavu moment and have been super paranoid all day. Getting kind of zappy tingly feelings on the top of my skull which feels pretty weird. As far as mood goes? I don't know. It just feels odd, like different. No better, no worse but different. The GI side effects the first n...

I was doing great until I took Viibryd for 1 month @40mg...Then I developed: extreme fatigue, nausea, vomiting, painful, burning red rash on both legs and swelling of hands, feet and legs. This caused a 12 pound weight gain over night! I tapered off of Viibryd as quickly as I could due to the extreme pain from the rash. I been off of Viibryd for 7 days and rash is gone! I thought I was going to do good coming off of this drug, but nausea, vomiting, confusion, dizziness, suicidal thoughts, extreme depression and panic attacks are bad!! If you have not started this drug, I would recommend you research before taking it. It may help some but in my case it just caused more pain, disappointment and sickness......... ## HI, DC! I am very sorry about the problems you suffered from taking the Vi...

I started my Viibryd starter pack on 8/6/13. Got through the 10mg pills with no big problem. Started the 20mg pills and noticed some increased energy along with some sore joints (ankles for me). Was on the 40mg pills for almost 1 week and went to see my doctor for a check up to see how I was doing. The doctor noticed the increased amount of acne on my face and chest and told me I should be using a more gentle body wash on my face and chest - I never had painful acne before this time. I didn't have much to tell him about how I felt on the 40mg of Viibryd - I told him maybe I need to be on it longer to trully see how I feel. I had been a little grumpy at times, but just thought that was me. Well, by the weekend following my Dr's appt. I fell asleep on Saturday night and forgot to ...

I have tried viibryd twice. Once last year up to 40mg. Viibryd works for me, really works, but stomach problems were constant. I had to stop taking it. In May I diecided to try it again, but only 20mg. For the last two months, stomach problems all day. They have got better, but I still have to run to the bathroom all day. This is such a drawback for this med! ## Hi David! Sorry about the problems you're having with the Viibryd. What type of stomach issue are you experiencing? Is it just frequent bowel movements, or do you also have stomach pain and/or cramping? Learn more Viibryd details here. Have you tried anything to alleviate the symptoms? ## A lot of gas. I seem to have to go every time I eat. Visit doctor this week and will ask to try something else. ## Hi, I'm about to tr...

I'm 19. Had a bit of a panic attack/nervous breakdown last year while dealing with school and some other issues in my life. I went to a psych. She gave me some Viibryd (starter pack, of course) and I took it. 5/10/15/20 MGs. I stopped at 20MGs. This was over a year and a half ago, and I'm starting to have mixed feelings about Viibryd. It turned my life around at that point, for sure. I was able to handle my anxiety and get my life under control. But, 1.5Yrs later I'm still on 20mgs/day because of 1 bad day I had with my anxiety? Idk. I feel as if it's unnecessary. I actually feel worse on the days I take it. Stomach issues, etc. are things I don't want to deal with. So, doing the wrong thing, I kinda just pulled myself off of them and haven't taken them in 2-3 we...

Still on my starter pack. At 20 mg. I haven't had any dreams, my big concern is energy. Should I take it in the morning? or at night? Discuss. ## It may really be a matter of trial and error to see how it affects you, so you know when to take it. It may cause drowsiness as a side effect, so if you experience too much of it, then you may do better taking it at night. ## I have tried both and would rather take it at night. Then I started experiencing these weird surges that made my eyes squeeze shut (not unlike a quick seizure) they best way I can explain it is if you stare at something a long time and force yourself to look away you blink involuntarily. It would happen at the point of being almost asleep. It scared me to death! Now when I take it in the am I have no energy and have a...

Terrible stuff, disturbing dreams, anger bursts, crying bouts, blood vessels in eye burst first day or so. I am 74, female. This is awful- Unpredictible anxiety, feelings of doom, insomnia. Have weaned myself from 40 mg to 5-10 mg. daily-must continue on that, I feel, to eventually have no side effects that upset my entire well being. NOTHING is worth feeling like this. God help me. ## Hi, Judy! Wow, that's terrible! I am so sorry you've been so miserable due to this medication. However, I can assure you that you aren't the only person this has happened to, these medications are known to backfire in some people that take them, regardless of age and there have been other posts about it. Have you consulted your doctor? They may be able to help you wean yourself off of this las...

hi i'm coming off 40mg of viibryd tapering down to 10mg. i'm on day 4 of the 10mg was told to take the 10mg for 3 more days then on day 8 take nothing then on day 9 start taking my new drug called cymbalta, 30mgs, for 7 days then up to 60 mgs once daily from now on. my question is as long as i wait the day in between the 2 meds, must i go a full 7 days on the 10mgs of viibryd? everyones ready to kill me here and i am ready to do the same so please advise me if its ok to come off the viibryd sooner...thanks ## Hi joe, The only person who can legally advise you to come off your medications is your doctor. But if it's anything to you, I would personally suggest sticking with it for the remainder of your tapering period. Reason being is that the main point of weening off is to a...

I'm 28 and was taken off welbutrin and buspirone and put on viibryd 40mg I was not dosed up BC I was already on the others. I have hard horrible headaches, more anxiety, muscle pain, sleeplessness, more frequent bowel movements (which I am greatful for), cravings for sweets and have gained 5lbs over the past two weeks :( I don't know what else to do the old meds only helped me concentrate. But did little to nothing for my anxiety and depression. ## Hi, Ashely! Sorry about the problems you're having. Side effects such as this may be experienced any time you start a new medication, or increase the dosage of an existing one. They can last for about 4 to 6 weeks, then they will usually start to taper off as your body has a chance to adjust. However, if the headaches are that sev...

I've been on viibryd for over a year and I'm still depressed. I get up, go to work, come home and go back to sleep. I don't want to go anywhere or do anything. I was on prestiq for about 4-5 yrs and I was about the same. Does anybody know if there is another anti depressant I can take along with viibryd or something else I can take that will make me feel any better? ## Hi, Bo! I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. And yes, there are many others that you can try, either in combination with it or by themselves. Have you talked to your doctor about the problem? Pristiq is a SNRI class antidepressant and Viibryd is an serotonergic class antidepressant, so it may be that you require a tricyclic or a tetracyclic, there are also SARIs and SSRIs. There are se...

Is anyone else pregnant and taking Vii? I have the episodes of sleep paralysis, hallucinations etc. IS THIS EFFECTING MY BABY? My OB said he loves Vii and his patients like it HOGWASH!!!!!!!!!! I start a new OB next week I am curious what she thinks?!?!?! Any comments are more than welcome! Aksonflower ## Hi, Aksonflower! I understand your concern and it may be well founded, under the drug category listing, it's a pregnancy category C, which means that animal studies have shown evidence of fetal risk. No controlled studies have been done in humans, of course, since that would be unethical, but it is suggested that you should make sure that the benefits outweigh the risks, before using it in a pregnant woman. And if I'd been on any type of medication back when I had my son, thoug...

I thought I was losing my mind until I read the posts about the side effects. I've been on 40 mg Viibryd for at least 6 months and it WAS working for anxiety and depression but it seems to have stopped working as well. The side effects of night sweats, sleep paralysis, and especially the 'brain zaps'...that one really knocked me for a loop b/c I thought I was losing it. I haven't really slept well for months b/c of the side effects but am going to talk to my Doctor now. How bad are the withdrawal symptoms? Worse than the side effects are currently? ## Many of those who have complained about the withdrawal symptoms list them as being very similar to the side effects you've mentioned. The best way to usually stop these types of medications is to slowly taper off of the...

I only missed my dose by a few hours. I lied down to go to bed and it was like I was tripping on hallucinogens. Everything I saw in this dream-like state was in a honeycomb type pattern and at one point I thought I was turning into a spider, at another I thought the covers were suffocating me and I was fighting to get them off and screaming for my husband to help me, but in reality I was just dreaming but could not wake up. When I finally did get up I called the pharmacist and told her what happened and asked if I could just stop taking the meds. She said it was dangerous to just stop and that I should talk to my doc about tapering down. I have never had an antidepressant do that to me before. It was really scary and I don't want to take a pill that will have this affect from one mi...

I have done a lot of research on this drug all over the internet for the last week because it's been the absolute worst week of my life. I started taking Viibryd 3 weeks ago for generalized anxiety disorder. I have previously been on effexor for 2 years, took 2 years off any medication, and then recently needed to start medication again. The first week, i had the typical side effects. Nausea, high energy, and insomnia. I knew that my body had to get used to it. By the 3rd night on the 20mg dosage, I was having 5-10 episodes of sleep paralysis with exploding head syndrome & hallucinations a NIGHT. I weened off for a few days, and now i'm completely off for 4 days and STILL having the episodes. I am scared to death to go to sleep at night because it is that terrifying. So, I a...

After taking viibryd it caused my penis and testicles to swell to the size similar to grapefruit and lasted 5 days when I was rushed in for emergency surgery. I still have lasting side effects and will need additional surgery to correct problems. I want to hear from you if you have a similar experience.
