I am 46 and have been taking SSRIs for around 20 years. Tried at least 4-5 of them. I am so sick of all the side effects. You get rid of one aspect of a mental problem and find out the med causes a new problem of its own. I went on Effexor for awhile and didn't like it cognitively, so I am looking for something else. I guess the major things I'm looking to get away from are sexual side effects and weight gain and sleepiness. I tried Zoloft, and instantly couldn't climax. Got off it in 2 weeks. I saw Viibryd is one of the SSRIs with the least sexual side effects, so thought I'd go for it. I think it might be causing dry mouth. I just got a cold and it's been hell finding moisture to breathe. I woke up so dry and breathing through my mouth that I called an advice nurse...

I was on Viibryd for almost a year and felt like it wasn't working anymore so my dr switched me to Wellbutrin. How long before I know if it's right for me? It's been 4 days and I feel horrible. ## At this time, you are most likely experiencing withdrawal effects from the Viibryd, as well as side effects from starting the Wellbutrin, which the NIH lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, anxiety, insomnia, diarrhea, and dry mouth. It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for your body to adjust, so things settle down and you discover how much the new medication will help you. Has there been any change?

Has anyone experienced seeing stars or floaters while starting Viibryd? It is very scary! ## Hallucinations are actually considered to be a severe a side effect of Viibryd (vilazodone). Listed below is a list of other severe side effects associated with this medication: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); behavior changes; black, tarry, or bloody stools; bloody or dark urine; blurred vision; decreased coordination; fainting; hallucinations; irregular heartbeat; new or worsening agitation, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, aggressiveness, impulsiveness, irritability, ho...

( that was hard to believe in 3 days) Its like day 2 I was able to get out of bed, day 3 I actually have stopped crying and I feel like I have come out of a awful darkness? So I am loving the medicine but now on day 3 I woke up to very puffy eyes (awful looking) I didnt seen anywhere in the leaflet about this symptom... Has anyone else had this problem. I SO do not want to stop this medicine the others meds caused awful weight gain etc. etc. so why is it in find something great and now this ??? Any input would be appreciated on the eye swelling .... ## Have you ever had any allergies? It sounds like it might be a slight allergic reaction, of some type, though I can't say whether it's to something in the Viibryd, or somethi...

I've been taking Viibryd for about 2 months. All of a sudden I have hearing loss in my right ear. My doctor has me on a steriod treatment, thinking it maybe from nerve damage. I am just wondering if maybe it is from the viibryd and wanted to know if anyone else had any problems hearing. ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? Sorry about the hearing loss. I've searched various user based side effects reports, as well as the detailed clinical side effects and there has been no mention of hearing loss being associated with Viibryd. Additionally, I've not seen it posted on here from users, either. Learn more Viibryd details here. It may have caused it in you, because there's really no way to know how any given medication will affect any given person that tries it. Have you consulted ...

Please let me know if you use vibryd how long it took to work and what your dose is please anyone ## Is anyone out there on viibryd please respond if you are does it work if so how long did it take ## Hi Theresa, I've never taken this medication before, but I did want to post some additional information that may be of help. Viibryd contains the active ingredient Vilazodone; which is an antidepressant used for major depressive disorders. Apparently it can take up to 8 weeks to for some people to notice vast signs of improvement, but I've heard that this time-frame may actually be longer with other similar medications. I also wanted to let you know that there's actually another Viibryd discussion thread here on this same topic if you're looking for more immediate feedback ...

My husband has been on Viibryd for almost a year, he has a extraordinary stress level for his job and now works 7 days a wk, 12-14 hr days, the problem is, he is barely recognizable of the Old Husbands personality. Total disconnect from me, only concentrating on work, he is beyond narcissistic, such a chip on his shoulder. Coincidence or has anyone else had or been told they see these same mood swings/personality changes? Thank you! ## Hello, Marilyn! How are you doing? Has there been any change with your husband? Some of these medications can cause that, in some people that take them, medical science has never found any way to explain it, but they do sometimes cause the opposite of the desired effects, according to the FDA and the NIH. In such cases, it is usually best to inform the pe...

I have been on 40 MGS of this for several months....I've experienced what I can only describe as brain zaps.....worse than the spins...almost like a convulsion. It happens when I lay down mostly...it is so bad it makes my arms jump around. Has anyone had this experience? I'm just wondering if it is due to the meds or if it is because of something else. ## Hello, Tay! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. And you need to contact your doctor about it as soon as possible, that could be the sign of a possibly dangerous reaction to this medication. It just might not be the right one for you to take. How often does it happen and how long does it last? ## I am also on a 40mg dose of Vybriid. I have been experiencing "brain zaps" for over a year, while on ...

I have been on seroquel and buspar for about 4 years and my doc just added viibryd for the anxiety. Does anyone else take this combination and does it seem to work? My anxiety has gotten worse lately so he added this med. I started today with the 10 mg and supposed to do that for a week then 20 for a week and then the dose I'm supposed to stay on at 40mg. Thoughts anyone?? ## Hello, Bewinter! How are you? Actually, the Buspar and Viibryd shouldn't be combined. There is a high risk of developing serotonin syndrome, if you take both of them, which could be life threatening. I'd suggest double checking with your doctor, before taking them both. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Viibryd at 20 mg completely destroyed my anxiety! A miracle drug for me. ## I've been on...

I've been on viibryd for 2 weeks now (starter pack) and started to notice my eyes have become very sensitive to light and i am getting what feels like sinus headaches daily. ibuprofen and Tylenol do not seem to help. Neither does sinus medication. Might be a good med but can't deal with headaches like this. ## Hello, Stacegrl! How are you? Has there been any change? These issues have been reported by the FDA as possible side effects of this medication, along with nausea, dizziness and mood swings. However, they are usually transient and go away, once your body gets used to a medication. Have you informed your doctor of the problems?

I feel great when I am on this med but the diarrhea continues. I weaned off of it and started feeling depressed again. Started back on it and the diarrhea returned instantly. Will it ever stop ## Hello, Mr. Lago! How are you? Side effects such as this usually last about 4 to 6 weeks, then tend to taper off and disappear, once your body gets used to the medication. However, if it's very severe, or continues after that period of time, then you should consult your doctor as it may not be the right medication for you to take. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No matter what time of day i take it always have violent diarreah. Cant wait till it stops. ## Same here, first med that helps me but the awful diarrhea is just ruining it. Can't even get pepto to work anymore. Been on ...

I can't stay awake! I almost made my daughter late to school today! I'm on 3 mg of Xanax a day and 40 mg of by rid PLUS my thyroid is out of wack! I know I need to be on more! I think this is why I'm so sleepy all of the time, but I'm thinking of cutting my viibryd in half and just taking 20 mg a day! To see if that will help! I'm on a drug they give soldiers that come home from war and take 3 a night to sleep or I have horrible nightmares :/ Any ideas??? ## It is most likely the Xanax, it is well known to cause drowsiness and, in some case, when other options aren't working, it's actually used to treat insomnia. It may be best to speak to your doctor, as 3mgs may be too high of a dose for you. The FDA warns that it also carries the risk of being habit formin...

Going off Viibryd: From 40mg, I went to 7 days of 20mg then 7 days of 10mg. I felt the affects and mostly it was anxiety/irritability. I was able to work but kept to myself. I did not socialize. I felt sick. When I went off totally it was/is horrible. I'm on my 6th day. I was unable to go to work. I was unable to drive. I was unable to leave my house for fear of flipping out and ending up in jail or hospital. I feel rage. I want to break things. I have yelled at the top of my lungs to two people on the phone. I'm confused, dizzy, disoriented, itchy (that's not new) and out of it. I'm confined to my house until further notice. Very scared and very confused. ## I am very sorry that you are going through this. Have things gotten any better, yet? These types of medications a...

Due to some mild anxiety and low level depression I was put on Viibryd two months ago to supplement the Wellbutrin 150mg I had been taking for a few years. I titrated up as scheduled from 10-20-40mg. Over the past six weeks my levels of stress and anxiety have climbed thru the roof, sleep has been awful, and sense of self-worth and usefulness has plummeted to levels I never felt before. Worst of all is a sense of depersonalization and complete loss of identity--it is very unsettling. I'm now down to 20mg and it's helping but as of today my doc has had me quit Viibryd altogether...substitute Zoloft whcih has worked for me in the past). Folks, I know that each of us have different reactions to various meds, but please watch for theses signs once you start on viibryd. ## Thanks for...

Please let me know if u take viibryd and how long it took to work... please any responses from people who take it please ## Hi Theresa, Did you find answers? I come to this site when I get email updates on Viibryd. It was the scariest AD that I've ever tried. Hope you didn't have a bad experience, like many! ## I have been on Viibryd for about 6 years now....and I absolutely love how it works for me. It didn't take long for me to see positive effects. Initially it did make me a lil jittery but it subsided. I also take mine in the am vs many who take theirs at bedtime. Everyone's body reacts differently. ## How long did it take to work? I started on 10 mg. A week ago, and feel sick to my stomach, have gastric problems, am gaining weight, and don't want to do anything....

Over the past 15 years I've been on most all the anti-depressant medications on the market: effexor, celexa, paxil, cymbalta, wellbutrin, and prozac for a long time. I started with a new psychiatrist in January of this year and he started me on Viibryd (I'd been on 30mg prozac for the last ten years). He also put me on lamictal because, well, the more the merrier? Anyway, to make a long story short, I was doing pretty well on the Viibryd and Lamictal so I decided heck, I'll try and go off meds and see what happens. I titrated down over 3 months during this past summer and things went from bad to worse. Basically I became suicidally depressed so I quickly went back on Viibryd. I quickly felt less suicidal but haven't fully 'recovered.' For the past three months I...

i have suffered from panic attacks for about 4 years now. Dr gave me Ativan to take when I felt one coming on. Earlier this year the Ativan seemed to quit working and the attacks were happening daily. Dr started me on Paxil 4 months ago. It has really helped with my attacks but I gained 30 lbs on it. Friday I was started on a viibryd starter pack. Today is my second day with it and I can already feel the attacks coming back under the surface. Is this normal? ## Hello, Jon! How are you? Yes, that can be normal. Usually, you'll experience withdrawal effects from stopping the one medication, accompanied with side effects of starting the new one. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. If it gets too severe, you should co...

My husband became sepsis with sections of dead intestines, after using Viibyrd for 1 month. He died 9 days later. ## Hello, Jeanette! How are you? I am so very sorry for your loss. That's horrible! The FDA does list that this mediation can cause gastroenteritis, which is a type of intestinal infection, but it's usually self-limiting and goes away within a few weeks. Was he experiencing severe diarrhea at any point? Sepsis usually denotes a bacterial infection that has run rampant throughout the body. Did the doctors have any idea of what caused it? ## I have no words. My thoughts and prayers to you. I will immediately stop viibryd 20mg which I have taken 16 days with unimaginable stomach upset. ## I am okay, thank you. My husband remained rather subdued during the month and trie...

First day (morning) after taking Viibryd. Took my first 10 mg last night before bed. Slept ok. No weird nightmares. Regular 6/7 hours of sleep. But I do take Ambien. Did not take with food and was OK. Woke up with tummy hurting and had to go to the bathroom twice. (they're right on that part). But... best of all- I def. feel so much happier after just one dose. Not sure yet how it will work on my panic attacks/anxiety but so far I am hopeful. After trying just about all the other SSRI's that always did not work for one reason or another... I am hoping this one just keeps getting better. Worked fast. I usually wake up very lack luster. Today... I woke up happy. Big difference!!! And that was just the first dose. I will check back after a week to update. I was def nervous taking t...
