Ive been on a comb of lexapro 20mg, and synthriod 50mcg for years now.. Ive been battling depression for awhile now. Ive been on everything under the sun for depression and anxiety. The past month my depression has seem to turn for the worse.. The doc believes the lexapro isnt working and is switching me to Viibryd. I havent started it yet. I was just wondering about it. Ive been on lexapro for so long im scared, but im also scared of my depression and cant live like this much longer. ## When it comes to severe depression, I find it is very essential that the underlying causes of your depression be treated for you to feel true relief without the use of medication. I too suffered from severe depression (for a little over 2 years). Only recently have I been able to overcome the struggle o...

Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it? Thanks! ## Started taking it on 07-13. Coming off of Effexor and Lexapro. ## Thanks, and keep me updated on how you feel. I take Welbutrin and am adding this med. Used to take Lexapro with the Welbutrin, but it just make me feel like nothing, so I got off it. Hopefull, and from what I have read, this is a lot better!! ## Will do! Am very hopeful as well. Lot of anxiety during the transition, but I think that's the Effexor getting out of my system. ## I have never taken it, but can provide a little information about it. It contains the active ingredient Vilazodone and it is approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder. Unlike similar medications, it has been shown to help in as little as one ...

I love this medicine as far as my depression and mood go but I’m having major stomach pain when taking it. I had diarrhea for a few days on the 20 mg but then when I went up to 20 mg that went away and the gnawing burning stomach pain is here. It’s day 3 of 20 mg and I’m curled up in a ball in bed. I’m not sure I can stick this out but really want to if it’ll go away. Is there anything I can take to help with pain? I’ve noticed fasting helps a little but with my bypass I’m not sure what else is ok. ## I'm sorry, but you said you went from 20mgs to 20mgs, which I believe to be a typo. What was the original dosage you were taking? Stomach pain, diarrhea, headache, dry mouth, and stomach irritation can be normal side effects of this medication....

I started taking Viibryd three days ago, and have started to see negative side effects. I'm currently taking 10 mg. I get extreme hot flashes, and sweat more excessively. I also noticed I have been experiencing migranes, and tingly sensations throughout my body. My doctor said that this is normal for the first few weeks, but I'm starting to wonder if this has happened to anybody else. Should I just ride it through the next couple of weeks, or should I get off of Viibryd now? ## I have been on Viibryd for for 5 days. The first day I experienced nausea and loose bowels, but that has passed. Now I am getting hot flashes. Also, the heat and sun bother me more. When I woke up this morning, my hand was numb. I'm also on Leumectal. I'm going to keep going on the Viibryd and hop...

Hey All. I started the starter pack of Viibryd two weeks ago while weaning off of Pristiq. I am on SSRI'S due to obsessive/intrusive thoughts and GAD. The first few days of the 10 mg of Viibryd were okay. I just had some mild diarrhea but no nausea or anything else. By week two, I experienced severe diarrhea, nausea, drowsiness, extreme fatigue, vertigo, and angry irritable behavior. I called my Psychaitrist on Friday and told him that I want off of this stuff! He told me to stop taking it and to call him Monday morning.... two days later I still can barely function at all. This is the worst SSRI that I have ever been on. Now, I am just wondering where to go from here? I seriously didn't even drive my car over the weekend because I felt like I was overmedicated. Anyone else expe...

Has anyone else experienced sleep paralysis accompanied by hallucinations since starting viibryd? I have been on the medicine for about 4 months now and for the last 2 1/2 months have had several very scary episodes of sleep paralysis... I have never been on a anti-depressant before and never experienced sleep paralysis until i started this medicine. I am a 23 year old female and i take no other meds except a daily multi-vitamin. Ive noticed that if i accidentally miss a viibryd pill i have sleep paralysis... but have also had it on occasions of not missing a pill. It occurs about once a week... its to the point where i dread going to sleep at night in fear of sleep paralysis, but the hallucinations that come along with it are what I dread the most. Has anyone else had a similar experie...

I have been taking Viibryd for almost two weeks. I am on the 20mg dose in the starter pack working up to 40mg. My psych switched me to it from Zoloft due to extreme blunted affect and complete loss of libido and inability to climax. I am being treated for PTSD and postpartum depression. I am very nauseous. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to ease the nausea. ## Are you taking it with or without food? That may be the root of the problem and if you're doing it one way, it may be a good idea to try it the opposite way. Learn more Viibryd details here. Otherwise, I'd suggest consulting your doctor to see what would be safe for you to use. Its difficult for anyone to make any suggestions, without knowing your full medical history. Another question, are you taking it wi...

I started with the starter pack 2 weeks ago. First day I took the 10mg in the morning, was severely dizzy all day. Waited the following day and didn't take until night time right before bed. I didn't experience any of the sleeping side effects that others here have mentioned. Over the whole period of the two weeks of taking viibryd, my leg muscles(upper and lower) and shins have been increasing in pain and now having pain in my forearms and stretching into my biceps. (Can the viibryd cause these effects?) After the first week I bumped up to the 20mg as instructed, still taking before bedtime. In the morning severely and then throughout the day I began having nausea and diarrhea. I've also been having skin sensitivty on my scalp, shoulders, and neck. I visited my Physician ye...

Will the diarrhea stop after being on viibryd for awhile? ## Hi, Ruth! That can certainly be an annoying side effect. And yes, it should go away after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your body has gotten used to the medication. If it doesn't, or if it becomes severe, then you should consult your doctor immediately. In the meantime, as long as you're not on any fluid restrictions or been told by your doctor not to do so, you may want to add a little extra water each day to prevent dehydration. Other side effects may include nausea and insomnia. Learn more Viibryd details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What about if the first time you take Viibryd and immediately start vomiting and continuous painful diarrhea with horrible stomach pain? I was afraid to even take anymore...

Started with 10, my depression continued to week 3 was, I felt it wasn't going to work, on the last 2 20mg pills i felt very depressed for a day, and woke next day with deep depression but as day progresses came through it like a break through. I'm hopeful, enjoying things, and laughing and able to make jokes. All good ## Awesome!! Glad you are doing well on it!! It is great for me too!! ## Fantastic! It's great to know someone is doing well on it and having a good experience. Learn more Viibryd details here. As is the case with most medications, the people posting online are usually those hunting for answers because they are having a problem. Those doing well rarely post and say so. I'm suffering from depression/anxiety/bipolar disorders. Today, as of 6th of October, I have taken my 6th pill of 10mg of Viibryd. Just after my second pill I started experimenting dizziness and nausea. I've been having troubled sleeping, and as soon as I wake up everything seems to be spinning around me. The first thing I do in the morning is running to the fridge just to grab something to eat, otherwise I'm extremely nauseous and have an upset stomach. I've been having daharrea along with painful lower part of my abdominals for the last 4 days. I'm feeling very depressed, sad, heavy, and lethargic without an ability of completing simple daily tasks. Taking viibryd and remeron. The remeron is at night though to help with sleep.....not working as of yet. Waking up in the middle of the night soaking wet in sweat. Viibryd is 20mg in the morning. Any ideas? Tired of waking up so early and freezing. Also, my legs seem almost wobbly unless I continuously eat throughout the day. Please help, all advice is welcome. I started these 2 meds coming off of ambien, wellbutrin, cymbalta and clonazepam. ## How long has it been since you stopped the other medications? It is possible that some of your symptoms are being caused by withdrawal effects. The FDA warns that you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound depression, and anxiety. ## Ok thank you, feeling a lot better now. The last to go and is decreasing to almos...

Fellow viibryd folk, I am taking 40mg (been on it for approx 2 mo at this dose). In simply 24 hours I notice a need to take it or I begin to feel very anxious, and afraid. I'm not literally scared, but rather the feeling of having been frieghtened. It results in being emotionally constricted and feeling frozen to move. It feels like it is related to taking the meds, its not my normal self. Any common stories, or comments? ## Yes! Have been taking viibryd for almost 2 years. If I miss one dose, I feel horrible! I have severe panic attacks and immediately feel extremely depressed. It's like an impending doom feeling. I feel CRAZY when I miss a dose.. It's the absolute most horrifying feeling. Im fine as long as I take it every day. I have noticed that it does not work for anxi...

I have been on viibryd for a week and have been having awful headaches. I am wondering if it is safe to take a leftover hydrocone from a dental procedure. ## Hello, Mary! How are you? I'm sorry about the headaches. I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these medications, but it's always best to double check with your doctor to be sure. Viibryd has been known to cause migraines, in some people that take it, according to the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dry mouth, weight changes, palpitations, decreased libido and night sweats. However, they should taper off, after a few weeks, when your body gets used to the medication. If not, you should speak to your doctor as it may not be the right medication for you. The FDA classifies Hydrocodone/Acetaminophe...

My psychiatrist prescribed Viibryd today, and I took my first dose with a meal a few hours ago. He said that Viibryd can cause stomach pain, but the pain will go away. I had gastritis and colitis in the past a few times. I have some stomach pain or cramps now. Could Viibryd damage my stomach or GI tract? ## Yes, there is a chance that it might, that is a risk with most medications, according to NIH studies. You may also experience dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. Do you take any other medications? Have you tried anything to alleviate the stomach issues? What medications have you taken for the gastritis? ## A few years ago, when I had had gastritis and colitis a few times (well before I started Viibryd), my internist recommended that I go on a low fiber, bland, no dair...

How can I stop taking 10 mg viibryd ## How long have you been taking it? It does contain Vilazodone, which is a type of antidepressant, so if you've been taking it for awhile, it may be necessary for you to taper off. However, if you've only been on it for a short time, then you should be able to just stop taking it. Learn more Viibryd details here. Are you experiencing problems from taking it? ## I've been on 10mg of Viibryd for 7 days and 20mg for 2 days. The side effects are intolerable. Is it safe to just stop this early on or would it be less agonizing to take one every other day for a few days? ## I don't know if Viibryd is right for me. I am on 10mg which I have been taking for about 6 weeks. I feel hopeless. I feel overwhelmed with life. I struggle sometimes to g...

Hi everyone, I stumbled upon this site just doing a random google search. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with any advice or experience. I was only on the drug for about 2.5- 3 weeks tops. Once I went up to 40 mg I became horribly depressed and stopped taking it cold turkey. What concerns me is the lingering side effects. The Viibryd made me very angry/irritable, and that lasted for a while after I stopped taking it, but the sexual side effects are still there. Not as bad as they were while taking the drug, but it's been 5 WEEKS, and I still have a much decreased libido and some impotence.... How can it still be affecting me 5 weeks after? Honestly I'm pretty worried. Any thoughts would be welcome. ## That isn't unusual, it can take 4 to 6 weeks for a medication ...

My depression symptoms were anxiety and depression stemming from lack of self-esteem and felling helpless/hopeless after being in a bad work environment with my boss and after losing some work and property that I created in a hurricane. I had feelings of grief and depression and in lack of motivation. I had PTSD, with anxiety but I also just felt completely demotivated. I had difficulty concentrating. I would feel overwhelmed and also de-motivated. I would be agitated and on-edge while at the same time I just wanted to retreat and stop trying to fix my situation. In 2013, I decide to mood stabilizing medicine. My doctor started me on Zolft. I took it for six weeks or seven weeks. However, on the Zoloft I felt dull and I had a lack of libido. Then, I switched to Viibryd. Viibryd is worki...

Hi everyone, this is my first post here but I am looking for some answers and opinions. I am a 21 yo female who was first prescribed Viibryd last year after lifelong GAD. I took 5mg regularly, at dinner, for three months with little to no side effects besides slight insomnia. It seemed to work well but as a forgetful person, I missed my dose many times with no withdrawal. After forgetting to take the Vii, I eventually stopped altogether, I was completely off the Viibryd for about 8 months. After a rough semester at uni, I fell into a depression after becoming ill and missing class. I had the flu for a week, and then bronchitis that I am still recovering from (this was two-now almost three- weeks ago!!). I began the medication again, about one week after getting the flu. I now take it be...

I found half a pill in my sons wallet. It has the number 20 on it and it's a peach color kind of oval or rectangular. ## Hi Missy, I found a couple different pills that share a similar description (though these are full/complete pills): 1. Viibryd (20mg) - An oval/elliptical shaped light orangish colored pill with 20 engraved on one side and blank on the other - Made by Forest Pharmaceuticals. Viibryd is an antidepressant. 2. Omeprazole (20mg) - A rectangular/oblong shapred brownish/orange colored pill with 20 embedded on one side and blank on the other - Made by Major Pharmaceuticals. This one has National Drug Code of 00904-5834 and is used for treating symptoms associated with GERD. Do either of these sound like a potential suspect based on any conversations with your son?
