I have been on Viibryd for a year or two. I have been very athletic for years and i now have pain in the side of both of my knees. I cannot run anymore so i use the elipitical machines. Does anybody know of any relation to this ? or is it just a coincident ?

After a year or 2, my guess it is not Viibryd, rather some arthritis that has developed from your years of physical fitness. If you're concerned and want to know, see an orthopedic Dr. They can do X-rays & MRI's.

Best wishes!

Just finishing second week on Viibryd. It's really helped has really boosted my libido, although I did have the stomach upset and nausea the first couple of days, it has passed. I don't have joint pain, no trouble seeing, no nightmares, only bad thing is that I've gained 7lbs in two weeks which really sucks. Just gonna try and watch what I eat and up my exercising. Other than that Viibryd has been working. I've taken Wellbutrin which was like taking nothing, taken celexa and lexapro... both killed my libido anyways, other than weight gain I'm happy w/ Viibryd.

I was the same way. Find someone in your area that does chelation therapy treatments. It did wonders for me. I had got to where I could walk. Now I'm back to hiking and enjoying life. I still sometimes have bouts of pain in my legs especially at night before bed

I've been on it for a yr now and slowly titrating down to get off of it. I've developed horrible joint pain in my fingers, hands, toes, feet & back. I can hardly walk & I have always been an active person. It hurts to put my feet on the floor in the mornings! I have to wear slippers b/c walking on a bare floor hurts too much. This is just the latest side effect. The first few months were great other than the vivid dreams. Then it turned into nightmares, I became very depressed & crying all of the time and I've gained 30 lbs. My eating habits have always been healthy but I can not loose the weight no matter how much I try. After I decreased from 40 down to 30mg it was like night & day difference. I felt normal and happy again. But that only lasted a few months again. This drug does not seem to stay stable and just quits working. I'm now down to 20 in an effort to get off of it. I am in so much physical pain unlike I've never felt before. Mentally I'm doing fine. I hope to be off in the next couple of weeks and see if the joint pain goes away.

Ditto! It's a messed up drug that will make females feel like they are taking Viagra, especially the 1st mo (& I mean ouch!), & for too many, the night terrors are too much (admitted flaw w/ drug that causes part of your brain to wake up during sleep). I have struggled w/ all over pain since finally getting off Vi & this was 3 yrs ago! Since dx w/ sjogrens & fibro. I am nearly bedridden w/ pain. And the brain explosions I had when weaning off the recommended dose then of 60 mg, leaves awful memories for me. There is no other antidepressant like it. And remember folks! I took it for 3 mos. before the sleep paralysis attacks started up.

Everyones experience is different. I certainly didn't, nor have had, any Viagra like experience as a woman- I wish!

You said you were on 60mg? I thought the highest dosage was 40mg. Anytime meds go up past what's standard, the more side effects can happen or increase.

I never had nor have night terrors or sleep paralysis. All antidepressants can cause this, everyone reacts differently to any med. I've been on Viibryd for 7 months. I did have unusual body aches 3 months ago that brought me to this site but I was found to have low vit D. After 5-6 weeks of 4000 Vit D3 daily, the aches & pains disappeared.

Lastly, I have never heard of any medication being linked to causing autoimmune disease like Fibro or Sjorgens?!

People reading this site: before you panic hearing horror stories about Viibryd, know that EVERY antidepressant has side effects. Most wear off. If a bothersome side effect lingers, there are many others you can try. Just because one person or even 500 have a horror story to tell, there are just as many, likely more, with a raving review of their medication.

Keep in mind most people who have a positive experience with anything in life, rarely post about it. Most posts are from people who have a question about their med or are disgruntled with it for whatever reason. "A happy customer tells a friend. An unhappy customer tells the world."

This is a thread about Viibryd side effects, is it not? And I was on the top recommended dose, which they since reduced due to the many who reported unusual sleep paralysis side effects.

There are plenty that report pain in their joints now. Hope it doesn't happen to you.

Remember to read negative reviews 1st when shopping on Amazon. Same with medications. Drug reps will post positive reviews here, because this IS the internet. Yes, it's common sense that happy customers won't always take the time to comment. So one has to wonder why lesweet1 is defending this IMO very dangerous drug under a post about side effects. Hmmm.

I too started on the trial pack, got up to the 40 2 days and ended up in the ER. Blood pressure sky high.. EMT'S were fearful of stroke. Now I am staying at 20 MG but now have had intense crazy dreams! The kind where Iwake up and go back to sleep in the same dream, like I can't get out. Blurry vision quite a bit as well.

The day after I increased Viibryd from 10mg to 20mg my lower legs, ankles and feet swelled terribly. The joints in my knees hurt so much, I could barely make it up the stairs. I have not noticed any difference at all in my depression, I actually cry more because I get so confused and forgettful and it's frustrating. I have Porphyria and am hesitant to continue. My Dr. Is out of country for three more weeks.

I have been on this drug for nine months and it is supposed to be taken at the same time everyday (I actually do set an alarm) and should be taken with at least 400 calories. When I do not follow these instructions I get brain zaps, sleep paralysis, and hallucinations. When I follow these two simple things I have virtually no side effects.

Once those side effects hit me, they continued. All it took was missing a dose. From then on, it was many mos. of attacks, that Stephen King would've loved to write about. I do not have a dark mind. Don't watch scary movies. I had to remind myself to talk of Jesus & Faith in my nightmares & the night that I had enough of the SP & night terrors, I began fighting the demon that was holding me down w/ words of the Holy Spirit & after feeling so much fighting & pulling of this demon out of my body, it finally left me alone, jumped the the floor & it slapped my feet & my husband's as it ran out of the room. I was no longer plagued by --what is actually talked about on Google-- this short demon figure. I had many auditory hallucinations for mos. after & felt hit in the head by a softball while napping. Having said all that, it was just weeks ago that I decided to add Wellbutrin to my Lexapro. I woke up w/ the bright orange brain explosion again & also woke to feeling slapped so hard it rattled pain into my sinuses. I've stopped the Wellbutrin. I was also taking Wellbutrin, I think, w/ the Viibryd. I will never take Effexor due to my experience w/ Viibryd. And yes, it was about the same time as finishing up my glorious Viibryd mos. (snri's work best for me) that the all over body pain hit. I've been bedridden for over 3 yrs. SED & CRP high. Rheum. said whatever it is, it hasn't shown itself yet. I've been dx w/ Fibro Sjogrens PN TN ET....and my Dr. who prescribed the Viibryd & chose me as his 1st patient, after all I've been thru w/ past cancer, well...he should be ashamed of himself. Never an apology. His nurses acknowledged the problems w/ Viibryd.

ive neem on vybriid for 5 plus years. i have had side effects. it is very important to take your medication with food. to not skip a dose. i take mine at night. im on 40 mg. if i dont eat with it i get brain zaps. you also need to stay hydrated so drink plenty of liquids. i learned the hard way. there are things about this medication people dont like. i dont see those things unless i deviate from my schedule. when i transitioned to 40 mg as my insurance company is a jerk i was taking 30 mg a pill and a half. it was perfect. took a couple months to adjust. my dreams are extremley vivid "lucid dreams" i had stomach issues too. but im good now..still have the dreams. i get brain zaps from time to time and u just gotta roll with them they go away. just stay on top of your dosages u should be fine.

Just curious. Have you found that you were able to get things done & stay focused (like paint, etc?) Because that's how Vii worked for me.

It is like an SNRI (ser & norep in brain)...much how like adding Wellbutrin (dopamine) works for energy, but increases anxiety for those who are sensitive.

As I've said before, supp there is something w/ Vii that causes parts of the brain to awaken during sleep, causing the SP. I've always been a creative person. Enjoyed scary movies until mid 20's w/o issues. All those fun gory images must be stored in our memory. Like the movie Inside/Out.

60 mg? the highest is 40. i so agree with you. i think its possible that the people who are having issues have only been on the medication for a relatively short time. they also seem to be on other various drugs as well. i try to post as much as i can as i get so frustrated with the negative comments. a drug like this is not an overnight cure. it takes time your dose with your starter pack is just a starter pack. i see a psych dr. i do not get my meds prescribed by a gp or primary care physician. they are not very qualified to prescribe meds like that. my psych dr worked with me kept on top of me. i saw her every 2 weeks in the beginning. if my dose changes like it just did because of insurance reasons i was back to her every 2 weeks. it took a few months of enduring some side effects but it is worth it. i watch horror movies every night i dont have dreams about satan. i have bizarre dreams that make me feel like im living it. i wake up and am like wtf crazy night but that's it. you roll with it. if u want to feel better you have to take the good with the bad. in the end the good outweighs the bad and u can live a happy life. this drug got me through a really difficult time. it has helped me even out. be happy. i think some of you guys have more serious issues and really focus on these side effects. which is not good. so much of it is in your mind. you MUST stay on top of this med. You MUST take with food. you MUST stay hydrated. you MUST take this med at the same time daily. you MUST take this med EVERY DAY. if you do not do this you will feel like s***.

I was on Viibryd for 3+ years and had no side effects besides the common ones when I missed a dose. I was on the 40 mg dose for over a year when I started having night terrors, extreme dizziness, and horrible joint pain. My psych doc denied that Viibryd was causing it, but my family doc disagreed. I decided to stop taking it, and after really bad withdrawal symptoms for several weeks, my symptoms slowly went away. I've been off for 4 months and my joint pain is almost gone and I'm feeling so much better.

Yes, it's a very SERIOUS med. The first 4 mos. were great & the last 4, hell. And then some. Finally! My Dr. realized that I needed Prozac to just get off of Vii. (Common).

Anyone here to read & post about Vii side effects...you're in the right place. -or--Hopefully you've done your research before filling your expensive prescription.

(I was on 40 mg, btw.../top dose).

Google sleep paralysis & hit images. I saw that after it hit me.

Until one is raped, molested, suffocated, & held down ALL by demons, every night...for mos, while properly taking the Vii, then one won't understand. Then when you think you can escape it, the very loud auditory hallucinations could hit you too. So loud they'll make your face wince w/ pain.

I can laugh in the face of those who blow off their side effects, because it just hasn't happened to them yet. Good luck. Vii needs to be removed from the shelves.
